PSVR support? PS4PRPO features?

I guess there will be a thread on this anytime soon, so i can just ask right away:

Will it get PSVR support? What will be the PRO features?

As per Dale on Reddit:

"We've got a heck of a title for VR, as already seen with Vive and Oculus. We're definitely interested in doing this, but right now we have no news on it. We've got a lot of work to do back-end to make sure that any new technology we support maintains our high quality benchmark."

I really hope Elite on PS4 get's support for PSVR. I already have Elite for PC (because I backed it), I have it for Xboxe One (because I prefer playing on the couch and my PC isn't near the television) and I would love to buy it for my PS4P, but the only reason for me to do so would be support for PSVR.

Like I said over here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...zons-for-PS4?p=4874265&viewfull=1#post4874265

We're looking into it, for sure, but we've not got anything to announce today. VR is something we care about though... what with ED being a flagship VR game.

fingers crossed - not for me, i have a rift.

would it be possible if you guys ever have the time to have a dev diary video regarding coding for different platforms, the challenges, the differences between them all, and stuff like that?

maybe i am just a geek but i would love listening to that sort of stuff.

cheers

This would be brilliant, as hopefully it will be something that can be done without issues over NDA and also not revealing ongoing 2.X dev stuff.

As a non software person, I have no idea how all this happens and having a documentary style vid from Frontier about how they go down the console coding path would be a really interesting insight.

PRO is easy... It'll look prettier, there will be plenty of scope to throw more bits at the extra GPU cycles.

I have a psvr and it's a must purchase for me but..

This has obviously been in dev for some time with a q2 release date so why no psvr news? I understand there will be issues but can the devs confirm they have inhouse vr builds? As I said the PS4 has to have been in dev for a while so obviously they are playing with the idea.

Frontier could you give us some clues as to the issues? I'm sure Sony would love this to be vr too due to the lack of triple A games available.
Talk to us guys I'm itching for news...

Ps pro games have to be fully PS4 compatable.

Yes, and that isn't really an issue, you just scale back settings, it is compatible, but PS4 pro games use higher graphic settings.
Personally I wouldn't be too surprised if PS4 Pro would be recommended for PSVR with Elite. Normal PS4 would need settings scaled down even further I think.

PSVR is allready waiting for me at the postoffice :) would be a shame if E:D is not VR on PS4 so i totaly trust the Team at Frontier that they weill manage ot get it done the right way ( and if it requires a PS PRO.. so be it :) )

Quite probably that. If the non-Pro was really stripped down (like really terrible textures etc) to hit the min fps, and the Pro version was the "real" version, I wonder if that would get around their stipulation all Pro games must run on non-Pro too? Terrible from a marketing point of view though ;-)

Also if people haven't been keeping an eye on the PC VR section, a number of us playstation owners have gotten PSVR working on the PC. Functionally meaning you can play VR Elite with PSVR right now.

It's using TrinusPSVR: http://www.trinusvirtualreality.com/psvr/
It runs decently, my laptop is a Razer Blade 14 (i7 6700HQ, GTX 1060): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQ73kFn2fVY

This is very much an unsupported hack, so the framerate and so on may get better if they improve the drivers, or if Sony ever releases official support.

As for the experience, I've only ever used the Rift DK2 and PSVR is frankly much much better. This is a hack, low spec laptop, console-VR, and positional tracking is only now being worked on, but worth having a go if you can.
