So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

I have to disagree here.
I have no fear of clones of other people. My fear is only of clones of ME - that is, fear of the answer to the question:

Am I the real one, or is he?

Don't worry, you're still special.
Who's a special little precious?
Yes, you are, yes you are!

I know it cuts deep, "What I'm not the universes most important creation?"

No one's special, or everyone is.

I guess you could hunt down all the copies, "There can be only one!"

You're all real, you're all individuals, you're all unique.
Never tell anyone but you're my favorite.
This will be our secret ok?
Feel better now 47?
Please send in 48.

See it doesn't have to some horrible gulag or sociopath factory like british public school.

Okay so, the Rift Mystery remains unsolved but ... now we have "Aliens". Much wow. Certainly was not expecting this at all. Dare we call these things by the big "T" word yet?

If the Aliens are here, in the game, in version 2.2 then ... what in the world is the big "?" in the upcoming 2.4 release? Is that when the Aliens get THEIR Horizons release? I wonder what these guy's SRVs look like?

They're clearly a parallel universe's manifestation of the flower power generation's mind projection from too many LSD-induced trips.
Wondering how they got into this universe. Maybe through the portal left open when David Bowie created his alternate reality.

ahem *getting back on track*

Jaiotu: all of what you said. Nothing to see for us here, move along everybody. :)

So is any of this happening in the general vicinity of the rift? Any impact on our exploration work or are we still howling in an empty wilderness by ourselves?

I haven't read the various threads in-depth but I get the feeling that all of the "action" is taking place around the Pleiades / Maia and the general area where Unknown Artifacts are known to spawn.

Keep howling!

This could be a teaser, leading up to 2.4.

Did I mention my latest tinfoil theory that whatever the "Dynasty Expedition" was, the Old Lady must have been involved in it? Otherwise, how is it that she accidentally stumbled across the mystery of the rift while we can't find it after two years of looking? Why go to the trouble of editing her memory when throwing old ladies under a bus is cheaper and more effective? [So I'm told, I wouldn't know, I just help them across the road].

The obvious answer is that she was part of it. Which raises the question - can we trust her? And for that matter, how far should you trust someone that's had their head interfered with, anyway?

I think the answer to b) is 'No' - but then I really don't think Kahina has the faintest idea about anything that's been going on since before the start of Reclamation.
Her actions can be reasonably described as "blundering from catastrophe to disaster, and then back to catastrophe".

With regards to a), I'd suggest watching "The Manchurian Candidate":

The Manchurian Candidate concerns the brainwashing of the son of a prominent right-wing political family, who becomes an unwitting assassin in an international communist conspiracy.

Sound familiar?

So, you're saying Kahina was brainwashed by Octavia (who was a communist) to become an assassin and kill Patreus? ;)

Well she DID try to assassinate someone ;)

Reputedly, according to Imperial propaganda tabloids

Nope, don't think you're the real one :D

Personally I suspect these aliens are Guardians and the Thargoids come with 2.4...........

Nope, seems to be all happening around the Pleiades

Yes you did.
That's what you say; the traffic camera may show us differently!
Yes, we can trust something is out there to be found, 'cos Drew confirmed it and he should know!

Nope.
I think Kahina was programmed by the organization of which the Old Woman used to be a member (until she got an attack of conscience) - which I strongly believe to be the Dark Wheel - to assassinate Patreus.
I suspect that was only the first stage of the plan, which culminates in Kahina being Emperor, whilst being a puppet of the DW (Dark Wheel / Drew Wagar - take your pick).

The Old Woman's appearance at the hospital Kahina was treated at is no coincidence - it was engineered by TOW so that she could plant the seed of the Formidine Rift mystery into Kahina's head, with the aim that Kahina discovers her true nature and thwarts DW's nefarious scheme.

Now, however, the DW have snatched Kahina so that they can reinforce the programming.

I'd also expect CoR or the Empire to receive anonymous information confirming Kahina's 'innocence' before long - so that DW can utilize their asset again.

I seriously do believe that "The Old Woman" is a member of the Dark Wheel ... or at least an alternative history of the Dark Wheel. Perhaps she isn't Rebecca Weston after all. Maybe she is Rebka?
