From a meta point of view, would FD design something with eight-fold symmetry and hyperspace interdictions that wasn't Thargoid (given those two things are defining characteristics of Thargoids)? IMHO, no, to do so would be trolling the playerbase and I don't think they'd do that. That's why I am content to call these aliens "Thargoid" until they are proven not to be.

But by that line of thought they could equally probably be Osresrian & friendly!
I still suspect they are Guardians, they do sing (similar to UA/UP) before they scan you. Perhaps these are Guardians &they've been trying with the UPs to locate Thargoids.

Lots of hyperdictions lately. All ending well.

But it's not always like that, is it? We have the wrecks. They didn't end well.

The last wrecks are most interesting. T9, several other ships, lots of different cargo, UAs and the Alien ship. What happened there?

I've seen several vids. of commaders in wings, being pulled out. They always end up alone. I think that either the T9 was Hyperdicted and the other humans dropped in later to attack or they were using drive slaving.

I haven't seen any vids. of commanders being hyperdicted while using drive slaving. We know that made trouble for SS1, but I'm not sure it makes any difference for us.

Any way, the non UA comodities at the wreck sites and drive slaving might be worth a test.

Spent quite a bit of time this evening with a cargo full of loot from the relic site (no UA/UPs) and nothing... bouncing back and forth between the Pleiades and so for all is working well... either I'm not noteworthy to our new neighbors or my ship works really well and they can't catch me... either way I think I'll keep track of this.

The hyperdictions actually place you in the original system you jumped from,
but at several thousand LS displacement. (Seen yesterday in german Livestream)
Now i guess, if only that "short" distance is covered,
something must be stalking you in the systems
before you jump.

Bummer.... here I was thinking we may be finally starting to scratch the surface of "hidden systems" as we were told a while back. Back to the drawing board on that one.

Has anyone tried being hyperdicted while carrying artifacts from the alien ruins?

I have a hold with each type of artefacts and bounced between all the main Pleiades systems. No luck yet.

I got hyperdicted on my third jump of the morning. On board I had a UA, UP, All 6 ancient objects, some large survey data caches and 10 occupied escape pods (plus 4 consumer tech). No difference in what happened in the encounter.

This is as I feared.

For all our efforts with the UA, nothing really came of them - it was just intrigue and a visual spectacle.

Same with this :(

It's still exciting though, well it is for me.

Has anyone tried figuring out to which system your ship points after the alien ship nudges you? From what I've noticed it is always in the same direction, as if it's pointing you to a specific system.

I think people have either been too busy chasing the ship or just dumbstruck to have bothered with that yet, but a good idea.

[Science RP hat firmly off for now]

Oh, I agree. It's just... there's always the feeling that it could have been so much more. Trigger it for one commander. See what happens in the community.

Trigger it for another one or two. Wait to see info/video/buzz... then go quiet for a bit.

That kind of thing.

Plus, we science types want to analyse and overanalyse it but I really don't *feel* like there's anything like a puzzle in these incidents right now.

I believe that it's simply a way to get everyone (or everyone with an interest) to acquire the warp scan data to allow them to access something (or somewhere) else in a patch or two.

(Some of us, however, kind of forgot... I'm going to recheck my video but I'm pretty sure I didn't get the blue message, so I'm still parked up in Maia and still waiting for another hit to get mine. UA pls mmmkay tks :D ... came all the way here in a Vulture with out an SRV - anywhere I can grab a free-floater?).

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe someone who's been somewhere special will trigger a different response. Maybe just the right combination of artefacts and relics do something. But I really don't feel like they will (for now, at least).

[Science RP hat back on]

FOR SCIENCE! I don't detect any Morse code, nor any particular sequence in anything I've seen or heard. I'll check my own video again later.

OK first page says:

but then says:

So witch is it? Do I need to get a UA first or no?

UA is not necessary, I've updated the FP. However we cannot say if it helps. As for myself I've not been hyperdicted yet, and I have an UA on board. But I've played not more than one hour.

But it is only assumption that these aliens caused the shipwrecks. As DB has pointed out (I believe several times) there may be more than one intelligent alien spacefaring species.
We know of Thargoids, Osresrians, Klaxians, Guardians!

BOYS THE REAL QUESTION IS THIS:

Remember the guy from the hunt some months ago, i think granger was his name. He said, that after the incident he woke up in a system far away. So what did he have on board when he encountered the alien? Didn't he ask for narcotics? Can someone load up some tons of narcos and see if this has some kind of impact on the alien scene?
