Two reasons why single player is more attractive than multi-player to me

This seems to be the big issue for ED and I suspect it will remain so up to release and tbh likely beyond. <snip>

I really do hope that for those who are having such a hard time in the beta to the point that they look forward to turning their back on the multiplayer game will at least try it when FD have completed their work on discouraging those whos only way to enjoy the game is ruin someone elses experience.

Lets hope Frontier can find a way to bring back those put off by the multiplayer beta experience.
As an alpha tester I enjoyed taking part but now only fire up ED when the latest patch is released, read the forum then walk away from it all.

At present it just seems way too easy for some to wreck the multiplayer experience of others - and those that do help others out get shot down (mostly metaphorically) for it - weird!!!

I'll give the final release of the multiplayer game a go... but i suspect ED will end up being a single player game for me.

Isn't fun from games always have come from beating challenge? At least all table top, classic games have been that - challenge, beating it, reward. Not cruising around or watching interactive movies.

I am used to hard games. I play War Thunder arcade battles with a joystick with a huge disadvantage these last 9 months. If you have played it against mouse aim you will know what I mean.

At 42 I simply don't have the spare time to restart the game and try and rebuild from scratch all the time. The kind of persistence you seem to favor doesn't appeal at all. I have a real life, house, cars, family, kids and dogs for that.

But since I already spent the money, I'm hoping things improve and the disappointment fades away as the game matures.

You forgot the third reason: latency...

:D S

Yup. Living at the **** end of the world means certain kinds of pvp aren't much fun. Eve frigate combat was sometimes pretty bad. Early versions of Red Orchestra 2 required leading targets different amounts at different pings... (yeah, that was as random as it sounds).

E: D has been occasionally smooth with multiple pilots on grid, and occasionally terrible when I ended up with pilots from the UK/US.

I'm hopeful that in the release version the instance matching will only match me up with people in Australasia, but if not, I might well resort to single player.

1) I don't know what you mean by 'teabagging.' In the States... it means a whole thing. I just want NPCs to be more difficult and not the target practice that they are now.

2) Perhaps you're right, but I saw it as another cat wanting to use their time only flying with friends. Maybe I was wrong, but I think Frontier is going to circumvent that idea.
.

What on Earth would be wrong with wanting to just play with friends, and why would you think Frontier would want to stop it?

DB has repeatedly stated his preference for co-op play, and limiting PvP. I think this early and lawless Beta may have given you the entirely wrong idea about what kind of game this is going to be.

I was wondering if Frontier could pick up a few things about Demon/Dark Souls instancing. Say, if the player has been recently killed, they can be marked as a "Hollow" craft and not be invaded upon by other players until they get the next major ship upgrade, or make a successful trade run.

Well we have had requests to make docking easier and have an autopilot during SC. Do they qualify?

:D I believe that docking computers are confirmed as being available at some point and that there will be tweaks to SuperCruise to make it a bit more intuitive. So, yes and no. ;)

You can say that again. I'm so far up the **** end of the world, no PvP could ever be fun. Even in ideal conditions, last mile ADSL routers (be glad it's not ISDN or PSTN) overheat in the summer, reboot every other minute, drop packets, etc.

I have no choice in the matter — ED will have to be single-player for me.
