Yes, this is addressing the Board Timeout issues some are having.
But it feels like this will limit it to even less Missions than we alrady had. Meaning "Oh, that Mission Board opened quickly, very nice. Ah, no suitable Missions for my Faction again..."

I'll try to explain it a bit (based off of the mission Q&A streams, mind you, I'm not a game developer or have any practical knowledge about how these sorts of things work):

Previously, the server would generate around 40 missions which would all be sent to the player in one big lump. Problem is, this included all missions, including passenger ones, which were severely overpopulated. So you would get 40 missions on offer, but the vast majority would be passenger ones. The new system caps this to 20 (so you don't have to load as much stuff), but only sends you the ones that are relevant to the mission board you're currently browsing, so if you're looking at the mission board you'll see 20 mission contracts, and if you're looking at the passenger board you'll get 20 passenger contracts, instead of the old system which would spit out 30-40 passenger runs and barely any normal missions. It's killing two birds with one stone, really - you get more normal missions and the boards are quicker to load.

@ everyone asking about engineer commodities: general rule of thumb is, if it's not in the patch notes, it's not in the patch. I don't think Frontier ever said the removal of engineer commodities would definitely be in 2.2.03, just that they were aiming to include it around the time the patch goes live. The more likely scenario has always been that there would be a followup patch soon after 2.2.03 which would include this change. I'm guessing the reason is that the commodities tie heavily into both the mission system and the economy and, seeing as most of the mission team were already working on the other changes in 2.2.03, there simply wasn't enough manpower to change it without wither delaying the rest of the patch or breaking stuff even more than usual. It's coming though, probably in a week or two.

They scraped it? Jezz give big ships extra HRP and faster shields... but not a single nerf on them... thats gonna be a big challenge taking down those.... ( not like guys in big ships ever know how to fight anyway... just more time to kill disable them....)

Yeah, good they tested it in beta.

....Wait... the current build never was in beta. Strange way to go about this, instead of putting this build into beta for a few days and see how people feel about it...

Just to say, my launcher says i's ready but it just has an option to play, rather than update. When I go into the game it still shows unable to connect. I assume that by the launcher showing ready, it'll hopefully not be too much longer :)

Given that the removal was planned to be temporary until (eventually) we get storage, there would not have been a need to touch anything but the blueprints themselves. The commodities could stay as mission rewards, in their markets where they are sold etc., just the blueprints wouldn't ask for them any more.

Thank you FD. This update is amazing !
Anyway, just a point, I may had missing something but I read nothing about the commodities for the engineers blueprint. If I remember well, it was planned to avoid it with this update, but there is nothing about that in the patch notes.
Can you, please, giving us some details about the commodities for the engineers, Zac ? Thanks.

try closing and restarting your launcher

Rep'ed. Almost didn't notice that it's actually Dwarden. Nice to see we share a common taste of video games.

I'm well excited to revisit Malden in Arma 3. I enjoyed playing OFP from 2001-2007 and Malden was probably my second favorite Island after Nogova.

bah, thats an OCD annoyance ;) Ship stats are at the top of the stats panel, rather than the bottom or middle
