So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Just been looking at the 2.2.03 upgrade notes & spotted
Avoid tinting weapon impacts on environmental surfaces
So just thinking-the coloured patches of ground at the ruins (&someone found in a poi somewhere else)- could they be alien weapon impact points? Has anyone checked the ruins to see if those patches have disappeared following this fix?

How does the player journal work? Is it something I can use to make notes in? Never found an explanation of this feature!

The thing that gets me is that planets are so big. I have a hard time finding a POI even when I know the exact coordinates.

This is why I cannot be a**** with eyeballing surface structures, thats just too much for me. They really need to add an in-game way to find those things, e.g. an upgraded surface scanner or something like this...

I'm on the planet now searching. While going through EAFOTS on the way, I hit a USS which resulted in a ship wreckage (looked like a Clipper) and a small survey data cache...I picked it up just in case. Not used to seeing USS this far out.

Not used to seeing USS this far out.

I'm currently at the edge of the galaxy with supercharging required for each jump and still seeing USSs. I checked out a few for the same reason but its always just data caches. They could at least throw in a few beacons to scan so I could collect something for the trouble.

I'm getting an indicator for a surface POI:

Are the Unregistered Communications Beacons back? I doubt that the locations to search would have changed but if for some reason they have, then these should be transmitting the co-ordinates to be searched. Good luck to everyone out there!

I hit a POI at -8.8796 / -154.9734, it was non-persistent and the usual blinking red light wreckage with a public data terminal.
