Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

I woudn't exactly call those "characters." I mean, yes, when you do a spectrogram of the signal you can see the difference between the high and low tones but that's kind of what a spectrogram is. The difference was clearly audible and the decryption of it was done by ear.

Not sure if you have seen the image in my (now approved) post #12044 on page #803

The UP uses octal chars 0-7 and also the division sign. I've decoded it and the octal characters match up with the binary numbers.

Hello CMDRs, first post on this forum. I believe I have discovered a discrepancy in the layout of the Alien Ruins. I have posted about it on the reddit as well, looking for insight into this. In the image, the top screen is from another CMDR that I saved and had been referencing, it matches with all of the others I have seen. However, in the image below, which I took, the layout of the Obelisk Arrays does not match.

Lost knowledge does not mean advanced knowledge.

There are plenty of legitimate archaeologists who would argue for the methods used to build the pyramids being perfectly placed given the technolgy known to be available at the time.

The problem is that no complete records or blue prints remain from that time to give complete quick capsule evidence of how they were built. What we know has been pieced together from centuries of study.

This vacuum of absolute fact derived from absolute evidence over time has obviously given room for wild speculation and urban legend to develope. Tall tails ranging from Atlantis to Extraterrestrials.

Many legitimate archaeologists would argue very strongly that we have a good idea how of they were built. And yes we could build the same structures today using modern technology, when you look at structures like the Hoover dam and the Channel Tunnel.

Its also easy to forget that the Ancient egyptians were not the only culture to build pyramids, many ancient cultures did and for one good reason.. It's the easiest and most energy efficient structure to construct given the building materials available at the time. Wide foot print, that gets smaller and lighter the higher it goes.

Mountains and hills are not cubes... Gravity forces them to become mounds. They naturally find equilibrium.

We are off topic.

So back to more pressing matters..

Aliens!!! in space!!

....in a game.....
May I enter your vacuum of absolute fact and mention the work of Christopher Dunn

It's all?

Did you mean is that the complete msg? No, I just showed a snippet of it from Audacity. I was just trying to establish whether these octal chars in the spectrogram were known about or not. The octal has the same info as the binary, so tells us nothing new, unless things have changed in the latest patch.

It's useful to know because we can use the UP as a Rosetta stone if we have further communication in the same language without the binary present.

Okay, I can confirm that you can get pieces of data just doing nothing in instance with other players. Just got Tech 9 and 11 and Linguistical 13 while alt-tabbed away, with my ship parked next to ruins in Mobius private group. Combinations to get these three pieces are currently unknown. So it's either of two things:

1) some data pieces just don't get through when you scan an obelisk, and appears much, much later.
2) data 'spills' from other commanders in the instance.
2) it's just random instancing bug, you get random data at random time.

Oh, and Linguistical 10, while I was writing this message. It's worth noting that no one in instance with me has these pieces.

Did you already go and scan with objects? if so, this is a known thing, it seems to be lag of some sort. Me and a few others have experiences unlocks while sitting idle in our ship

So if you're in the business of analyzing audio, there are some strange noises being heard at the ruins site. Drifter and a couple others have confirmed their presence.

If the site is some kind of comms station, it might be possible to activate it and then get a recording of any data transmissions.

Last of my scans were around 01:00-02:00 IGT, more than 12 hours ago. That's some serious lag.

it clearly shows the two cylindrical "pads", with what looks like a terminal on the middle one.

What I find odd is the the very non-organic looking tech at the ontop of the middle-pad-with-terminal, that reminds me of a pilot's seat.
This is consistant with the thread cockpit screenshot as well!

Shock and awe, this is possibly the most detailed screenshot (156 MB) of the thing so far! I don't quite see the terminal you mentioned yet, but the "pilot seat" is clearly visible and it definitely looks non-organic. In fact, the part in question could not only be the pilot seat alone, but also depict the very pilot herself (I'm convinced it's Thargoid, and they're all female), wearing a sort of helmet and space suit tailored to alien needs, just like human pilots do. Good finding!

EDIT: Ok, I think I found the "terminal", I just saw both structures together as one. Hard to tell for me if its a single structure or two, still.

Also, since there are noticeably different obelisks glowing today for scan, I feel there might be a day of the week component to this...

I wonder what could trigger changing the active obelisks. I still see the exact same 15 as yesterday. I'm still stuck on 13 pieces of data and I've tried all combos on all obelisks.
Have you fooled around with the relic towers?

I'm assuming this thing is terrible bugged and/or broken until someone proves otherwise. Different results for different players, getting reports up to 12 hours later, people in wings getting results w/o having the right items in their hold... seriously FDev?

I havent, but people have in open, they are up. some of the same ones are around, and after scanning new ones in a grouping, the old ones come back.

Forgive me, good people, if this has already been mentioned somewhere, but if it has I haven't seen it and that rather surprises me.

This is not science, more of a speculation, but it is certainly food for thought. It relates to one particular log entry:

(Emphasis mine) To me, the phrase "gel cocoons" made me immediately think of these:

its the same thought I had....that's why the scream when they pop, they are alien escape/survival pod....been around intact foooooooever....scream in anger/frustration cos you just got them popped when they could see salvation on the galactic horizon

that's maybe also why they were scattered around one of the alien wrecks.....how many of our wrecks have you seen with escape pods scattered about them??

you people have been muuuuuurdering them!:)

So, now that I think about it, has anyone tried to take one or two of these and see if you could get any data using them? If it was related to the Guardians maybe it would be one of the things missing.

Im not sure what point you are trying to make here.
Christopher Dunn isnt an Archeologist or Egyptologist, he's a Professor of Political Science and wrote some quack books on the Pyramids being power stations, He's up there with Erich von Daniken sans the theme park.

They were grain storage bins...just ask Dr. Ben Carson, neurosurgeon.

New/another Map with better lightning

I've just completet a map with better light and all positions of the artefacts. Numbering of the obelisks is the same as used in the map here for the project.
Feel free to use it:
