As someone mentioned before, at least in solo the obelisks to not reset - after scanning all and returning to 1 on map I waited 15 mins and no reset. Besides as has also been mentioned my regular kicks due to auth server mean if relogging breeaks it I'm doomed to fail anyway.

ya I have the same problem, I get kicked out of my solo instance quite frequently

could this be linked maybe to the towers?
Did you activate any of them before you checked?

I didn't activate any or check them, but other people in open might have.

Also pretty much all items were looted and did not respawn. (So I guess you have to collect your items in solo)

Unless something was bugged yesterday I highly doubt it has anything to do with the towers. I activated several different towers throughout my search yesterday and saw no difference, and pretty much everyone was having the same results yesterday irrespective of what towers were active. I think if anything, the obelisks are probably triggered by specific times, alignments of objects in space (maybe the binary planet?), etc...something we don't have control over. Which would explain why the mission gives you 4 weeks to get them all.

I count 122 undamaged obelisks, so if all of them can be activated, it is theoretically possible to get all the data from this one site.

Thanks for counting, think we're going to need to put together a new numbered map! With 101 possible data decodes, and what looks like 100 required to wrap up the mission, I'm starting to think everything we need is right here at this site.

more obilisks are active in open because the have been unlocked and the instance hasnt reset when you relogged to relight your obilisks, as you progress, more and more obilisks will light, but the is reset in private/solo when you relog, when you relog in open you join a server that is between the start stage and the stage you have reached so far so you can perceive the new obilisks as lit too, but it all depends on the server to connect to.

What we should do is meet up as a team, once guy scans the obilisk and then tells the others which type of artifact is required from the types of data that where scanned, so long as its in the same instance it will be persistent, i think

I counted around the same. Some are doubled up back to back and i didn't know whether to count them as one or two. Now we just need to find out the pattern.

Back to the Thargoids. As CMDR Malactus has already pointed out, there is a strange, obviously non-organic structure to be found in the alien vessel's central cockpit. I extracted the part in question from the huge 16K res image file (boy, what hardware does the CMDR who took the image run the game on, mainframe cluster?) and enlarged it by 300%.

This part is odd for sure, I did not find anything comparable on the entire screenshot. What do you think this could possibly be?

Ive not fiddled with the towers yet, so im just wondering if they have some purpose outside of the WOW moment you get when you first see one... and of course the relic.
They towers do have Triangle symbols on their base, to my knowledge the only structures at the site to do so.

Yeh ive just been in Solo... that way the sites not been trampled.

Human tech on Alien ship?

I was going through a screenshot that was uploaded onto a dropbox that was 16k screenshot, not sure of who here actually took it, but it was on the latest lave radio (warning the original image is quite big). and noticed something interesting.

The following is a cropped version of the screenshot, focus being the cockpit:
http://i.imgur.com/qAcamuR.png
it clearly shows the two cylindrical "pads", with what looks like a terminal on the middle one.

What I find odd is the the very non-organic looking tech at the ontop of the middle-pad-with-terminal, that reminds me of a pilot's seat.
This is consistant with the thread cockpit screenshot as well!

I was looking through that same picture and came across what seems to be human tech on the alien ship.
not sure if someone noticed that before. if so, I'm sorry.

I would post a picture, but it won't let me (maybe I'm stupid or it's because I'm new to the forum. Either way the upload always comes up as "not valid image file", but it ist)

Anyway, I have to describe what i saw. you can look at the original picture (16k screenshot) in the quote.

On either side of the cockpit are 3 pods, or so it looks at first sight. because on the right side the top one is missing. and where this pod should be, is a strange object that looks like human tech.
I'm not that familial with the existing models for weapons and so on, so maybe one of you guys recognizes this.

What does it mean? First the cockpit, now this thing. Are those ships even Alien?

Well I did some log in/out checks while I was grabbing the required items.

Reloading will indeed "reset" the obelisks. I always had the same ones activate as well.

The down side is the required data to activate changed every single time. So for the commanders out there planning on doing it on solo that just made your lives a whole lot harder. Unless as someone else suggested selecting one activates another elsewhere. Not tried to test that yet

EDIT: O.k so I did a speed run after another relog. (Bear in mind I have a partially eidetic memory for routes/maps so I've memorised each set of active monoliths) - After bouncing all of them with no particular regard for correctness I then relapped a few times and no additional monoliths became active, nor did any of my previously marked monoliths reactivate either.

As such I suspect Open is very much the way forward or something is not working as intended.

Hey CMDRs,

First time poster but have been following the thread and completed my sweep for the 13 pieces of information. I've attached a link to my spreadsheet and what I experienced to get them. It's in line with what other CMDRs are getting with exception to the 13th. In my case, the technology info was found at obelisk 14 and 15. I also was kicked from and purposely reloaded my session as I progressed to fix session glitches. I hope this helps other CMDRs out there!

there is a french architect who has a pretty good theory how its made and its proven to be doable in a computer simulation. the giant gallery actually is a sliding mechqanism for a counter weight.

Oh, the expert architect knew it could be built, what I should have said was.. he didn't know how they could have done it.
We could build it now, but it would be a massive undertaking even with our modern technology.

Building it 5000 years ago without that technology doesn't add up.
Conventional archaeology says it was slaves with tools, like chisels, and ramps, and that's it.

But those kinds of theories are only looking at the physical aspect of it... it's over looking the most amazing thing about it,
which is the knowledge, the design of the Pyramid and the maths involved with the perfect construction techniques is extremely advanced.
It's too advanced for the knowledge they had to have not been lost at some point in history.

Sorry guy's I've kinda gone well of track this evening.
This topic is just something I'm very passionate about.

Could this perhaps be an Easter egg? Something from the old games?

Haha ive been checking that now. But i can't see anything.

To be fair we are looking at an image that has undergone alot of enhancments and layers of processing to get that result.

how much of it is noise?

But i have to be honest... i look at that image and there is a bell ringing in my head.
