So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

I love and play this game like no other, over 18 weeks played according to the in game stats. Yesterday I looked at the PC and just couldn't bring myself to turn it on.

When I saw that the patch notes started with "- Fix for crash when dropping from orbit at Eafots LZ-H b10-0 D 1" I raced back out there only to find that the mising assets are still not in game. Was I jumping the gun, should I have waited for a patch note of "- Formidine Rift assets now in game"? I thought I was already being very patient waiting for an extra PVP centric beta to conclude before the fix went in.

The things I've been contimplating doing are staying parked on the planet waiting for the fix to be fixed, driving the SRV around the planet while using the bugged scanner, flying back to the bubble and taking part in the Ancient Ruin mission that sound like it's bugged, or spending even more hours jumping around the Maia area hoping to get 'hyperdicted' by aliens. None of these things interest me enough to start the game.

Come on FD, you can do better than this!

I've been playing Witcher 3

Sometimes if you address a thread to a particular dev you can get a response, MB is often good at this, especially if you catch him when he's active on the forum.

Michael Brooks has a pet thread? What kind of pet?

The UA/Thargoid one - that's the only way we've really got attention here in the past aside from Drew's tireless efforts as someone who doesn't even work for them. Well not in that context - new novel action aside having to bug-check and quality control the game isn't really within his remit.

Yeah, I agree. I've worked in IT for a long time and am inclined to cut FDev a lot of slack, but the key to damage control in situations like this is frequent communication. Even Drew can't get answers out of them on something that is a major piece of content.

When Drew posted yesterday it just reinforced the horrible feeling that the whole thing was completely overlooked during beta.

Yeah, that's my fear....probably not a quick and easy fix. My complaint, though, is that FD should just say that and we can then make an informed decision as to whether to stay or go do something else.

The problem is, that it certainly seemed easy to fix. There was a typo in the code of a game asset that was being referenced, which was in the logfile of several cmdrs who encountered the CTD initially in December. This was documented in the bug report thread for the issue.

The ruins data people are getting is riddled with spelling errors too, it's very unprofessional when it's stuff that any automatic spellcheck could have picked up.

There's been a lot of that lately and I'm not sure it's taken Siriously. With the reversed coordinates too there's some basic quality checking missing in their processes and with it happening again and again and again it needs resolving.

I am at this point without any reason whatsoever to believe that the Rift mystery has probably been bugged since launch and undiscoverable.

the usual 'facepalm meme' should be added here.

but i am too much tired and bored to do it.

I feel a bit like that too. I'd like confirmation that at least someone in QA has made a virgin account via normal purchase (no internal process) and gone and seen that these things can be activated and entirely played through and worked in solo.

Clearly this has not been done in any of these mysteries so far from barnacles to listening posts - why in the whole galaxy would they have done it with the rift.

Maybe the only way to get the Rift mystery fixed is for all of us to give up on it (go back to the bubble and do other things) and wait for Frontier to decide the mystery is important for the progression of the overall story.

At the end of the day, and before any of y'all get defensive (ihave multiple accs with skin packs etc on them all) and love the game and the dev's, the rift has always mainly been a treasure hunt run or helped along by Drew and not part of the official plot, well thats how i see it as being treated and hence always seems to come last in the way of updates and fixes etc. Example the Ancient Ruins just got a new CG etc other parts of the game got updated. The rift story came toa grinding halt due to a bug which they simply switched off the calls to the assets on our computer initiated by the server.

We were told this would be sorted in this last patch, the patch notes suggest it has been there has been a server restart since the release a few days back now. But still not a peep I just wish even if it were bad news we had some news. Do we stay or is it a fix quite a way away time wise and we would be better off trying sometyhing different in the mean time etc. We understand somethings take time to fix , but replying to a thread for example this one, the original bug thread, the thread posted by Zac etc wouldnt take more than a minute :) And its quite lonely here at EAFOTS :)

So please please let us know whats up :)

Post about It in all forum and reddit threads about the beta. They're surveying it about all these shiny new combat stuff. This Is a faulty beta content, after all.
