Really like this idea!

Perhaps the ruins was the launch pad for the Guardians initial space travel endeavors. Also, that moon is beautifully rendered so this might be a thing.

If you're going by the historical data that's been found, an electromagnetic launcher would require a track miles long.

Instead think of it as a fixed antenna. This is a data center. Fixed antennas get the best reception for short periods of time allowing for large data dumps, such as updating and backing up archives between physical locations.

In my frustration at being trolled/grieved in open and loosing millions in ship re-buys and repairs I've happily joined MOBIUS PvE, I will not be going back into open play in open space again, long live the world of PvE  perhaps FD could consider setting up a null field around these sites that stops ship weapons from firing but still allows srv weapons to be used

Bye.

You won't be missed.

One thing I found pretty fascinating is how all four ruins, when they are activated, can be seen from a far distance. Like some sort of beacon in the horizon.

I went pretty far away on a hill and could see them still. Makes me feel like they're some sort of communication array, and all four have to be up. Would be interesting if there was another hidden far in the hills around the ruins somewhere...and then another....leading us somewhere on the planet.

I'm sure someone already said this, but hase anyone tried to scan with Soonthil Relics in the cargo hold? Or completely other stuff?

Btw:
The map on the first page:

really works. Now we have to go on with the research.

Does anyone have the 81 data packages yet?

Welcome to Mobius!

Still well over three weeks left. It should have been a community goal though. It's very strange that it's not actually... I keep wondering if there's some significance in the way they're handling this differently.

Uhm... Is there any way there could be a Star Wars clue in this? Should we look for stars referenced in it or something?

People been demanding more indepth missions, well this is a more indepth mission for people to carry out by themselves or in wings.

I underestimated the effect of relaxing fighting and flying in Mobius :) its awesome to play it this way without beeing ganked at every CG. Much Fun ;)

Welcome to Mobius!

Kinda sad though, those people can keep doing what they do and they will always be more disruptive to others play style then their own, because their play style is being disruptive, something really needs to be done :( and don't get me wrong, I enjoy PvP, but this isn't PvP or combat or even challenging people.

Geometrically they are not lined up in a symmetrical fashion, so they're unlikely to point at anything.

However, I'm sure very few people have bothered to activate all 4 without shooting them before scanning any of the obelisks.

I sure as hell didn't.

If the ruins are a data store and communications hub: could it be facing that tidally Locked planet next to it? Maybe a place to search on the visible point opposite. Similar planetary conditions I believe?

1-a-alpha
2-b-beta
3-c-gamma
4-d-delta
5-e-epsilon

What If "alpha gamma" response means 13 or ac?

I think the data scan will tell us which Obelisk we have to scan next...
I find it very hard to believe that Frontier designed a puzzle that can only be solved in Multiplayer... and with relogging..

People are getting random activated obelisks in Open because of luck...

I think you can solve this puzzle in one go in Solo play, we just have to find the correct order of scanning[wacky]:D

Well everyone will be pleased to hear that the numbskull killing pilots in Mobius yesterday has been removed from the group...one less tard to worry about at least!

sry nice idea, BUT:
I chcked the distances (triangulating from GALMAP) I get XR-H d11-102 -> Maia around 558 Ly and Centar of CalNeb -> 1107Ly - thats a ratio of nearly 1:2.
Transposed the ration in Log(10) its CalNeb 3.04, Maia 2.75 - makes 3.04/2,75= 1.1054
If U measure the lenght of the triangles sides then log(10) U get a ratio of 1.018 , so neither in absolute numbers nor in log() the length of the triangle axis can represent Pleiades/CalNeb

I didn't consider log() very cool. Thanks for doing this.

Have you tried log(3)?
