Maybe we should look for equilateral triangles in the star formations.
If we have 3 ruins and a home planet, that would make a perfect tetrahedron. With same distances between them (communication range)
That would enable someone to find every location from only one. Maybe thats the reason the Devs need so little adjusting.

so we have been trying in solo and p/g with one player, and there is one sure thing when you get to the trigger point, its a crash to start menu, we have been testing for the last 3 days and it happens every time, and also the non exsistance of oblisk respawn is still not working, 2 players in p/g get the same, its not till we have 3 players do we get passed the trigger crash and the oblisk's were not resetting so we had to log one at a time to get the re-lit oblisk's.

this can not be working as intended in any way !!!!!

any one else getting the same thing ?

Yeh i have been reading about the possibilities of bugs etc , but I have also sat down and brain stormed with other cmdrs about possible continuities , I think that some of the bugs people are having may not actually be bugs but more of a engineered test built into the game mechanics to make the task challenging ... perhaps i'm posting this on the wrong thread . Apologies if so !

No, this is the place, we love a good theory, though we're sometimes grumpy when they don't work out! If you find anything interesting let us know, and the first page is always a good source of info :)

Hi - just a quick question. I have about 10mil in scan data so far. If my ship is destroyed before I head back to Ram Tah will I lose that data like in other missions or will it be ok? I really need to take a break from going round in circles at the ruins!

I don't know, but I was killed in Open by a griefer and I respawned at Felice Dock and still got the mission. Undocked with no problems.

On a related note, another few questions about handing in data early for cash, as it has been established the mission can, later, be reacquired.

1) What happens when you get the mission again? Does your data gathering continue from where you left off, or do you start from the beginning?

2) Also does your mission timer continue from where you left off (a pause), continue constantly from when you originally first got the mission (i.e. it never pauses), or does it start again from 28 days (a reset) ?

Or.... humans are descendant of guardians, one of the arks maybe? It seem that a lot of their history, culture and even biology can be related to humans one way or another. Then..... maybe we should be looking for more clues back on Earth (Moon?) then?

Found this on 1 B A on exact ruins coordinates. My excitement knew no bounds when I saw it from ship from far away...

!!!!!!!!

Utterly new mate. Scan all the things all ovevr again and earn the same CR... Mind you - half the population at the Ruins are just hovering while scavanging other peoples scans so not sure that renewing would be an issue.

I gave up and cashed in only to find two Cmdrs who I wing with were heading over there. So signed up again...

All the best

I might try that today, thanks. (I don't need the money, but having the knowledge and wisdom of the Guardians is reward enough.) I need to catch up with all my friends at Distant Stars.

has anyone analyzed the sounds that come off the ancient pillars (om addition, has anyone compared if the sounds coming off different pillars differ somehow)? If someone has, is there a place where I can read about it (and possibly see the spectrograms)?

I found this too and posted it about 20 pages back. I too was really excited :D but I don't think it has anything to do with the Guardians.

So, apart from being bugged (presumably), it is exploitable. There is no facepalm image on the internet to explain how hard I just hit my face.

Few questions instead of answers:

- Why there are double obelisks?
- Why obelisks are grouped in triangles, rectangles, etc? What does it give besides "aliens like geometric shapes".
- What are those coffins everywhere around? Is it just kind of reinforcement against wind or something more?
- How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Do we know what the Guardians are supposed to have been guarding? Maybe that would help us find a centre point and possibly a band of places to search?

Any time.
and if you want to take on the mission again you can, just leave the system and then re-enter it and dock again at the station - you'll get the mission again.

NOTE: I hesitate to mention it because I guess people are happy to be making lots of money from this but there is another bug, related to re-taking the mission, ie I cashed in my 26M, re-got the mission and returned, re-stocked with all the items and hovered over the site in Mobius PVE - after a few hours, I checked and I'd got 2 new data scans, but my mission reward said 13M !! so I cashed in again - then re-got the mission and returned again, after an hour I'd got no new data scans but 3M in mission rewards.
I have been trying scans and combos myself in mobius and I'm sure other cmdrs have been getting that data too, but I've not got any new scans for a while.
I'm not actually sure that ANY part of the ruins site and mission is working as planned!

Don't get me wrong, I love Elite Dangerous and have invested many many hours( and money: ship kits, paint jobs and 2 accounts! ), I've explored and mined and traded etc, but the number of bugs and stability issues around this one element to the game is scary!!

I would guess that you not getting scan messages is because you already had those scans. I have the same "problem" I only get the new messages that I did not scan yet. I handed the mission in when I only had the Solo one's so any additional Obelisk now gets me a message. Did you delete the scans from your message log?

Also: Did this not go under investigation as a bug and could be patched out any second so that you are stuck with the reward you already cashed in?

I'll add my stone with my theory.

First of all, I'll base my analysis on the following image. It's an old picture of the old site (before change), but the obelisk plays no role in my theory. It's also more convenient as this picture is oriented with the North on top:
2b.jpg

I already stated earlier: I believe this is a map. Most public maps have a thing in common: The "You are here" label. I believe this is the role of the large circle. Standing in the middle of it, you can see the yellow star raising in the north-west slot and the ringed star in the north-east. It need confirmation but it is possible that the third star would raise in the south-east slot. Please not that each slot size seems to be directly connected to the star raising into it (The biggest for the yellow).

The second circle, smaller, has the 3 same slots, but bigger (while stil keeping their proportions). I believe this second circle is the moon:
- The moon is smaller than the planet we're on (smaller circle)
- The slots are at the same locations: There are the same 3 stars we're talking about
- The slots are bigger: The suns light will cover a bigger % of the moon's surface

In this theory, the walls between these 2 circles represent the connection (gravity) between the 2 bodies. The moon's wall (west) isn't connecting to anything, telling us: Nothing is orbiting this one.

And now the elephant in the room: What is the 4th slot for? It is far bigger than the other 3, and is also present on both circles. As shown with the stars, slots are points of interest: they connect our location to something else in space.
I believe this shows us where to look. The location can be seen from both planet and moon, but I also believe the Pyramid (south east) is here to tell us we have to look for it from middle of the big circle.

As per the east-west wall, I believe this is some sort of sundial, telling us when to look. Noon will be in a few days on this planet, might be interesting to se which bodies are visible in the sky. We might be able to connect the second pyramid and the 2 weird triangles pointing south to something.

I don't blindly believe in this theory, I just thought it might be useful to mention it.

Forget about the plane. I'm an idiot.

The towers does not draw a plane. They draw a cone, like this:
https://s24.postimg.org/v81bgt739/Cone.png

Z points to south pole star.

The network would then have to be a 3D shape, like a pyramid or something.

It's what I meant by a ~120° opening angle for the circle.

This means that if we are looking for a equilateral triangle that includes the ruin system,
the two stars have to be separated by 60° on the circle.

I might try that today, thanks. (I don't need the money, but having the knowledge and wisdom of the Guardians is reward enough.) I need to catch up with all my friends at Distant Stars.

Heh I’m just the opposite of you, I’ll be leaving the Distant Stars group in a few days to catch up with my friends at the Ancient Ruins.
