Why are some names on the Cartographers' datasheet highlighted with yellow?
Nevermind, I re-read the PMs. :)

If anyone is on Xbox add me it's awful quiet up here!!
What's your gamertag? And message Padericon, he's got the private group a bunch of us are using.

Here we are on AH Cancri 3c.

I wonder how you will RP your return to the bubble - except of course you all plan to stay up at the Cancer Cluster :)

Seriously though - thanks for sharing all these images and videos - and have fun up there :)

There is this conspiracy theory that someone send all explorers here to get more room for him self to discover all the cool stuff. There was also talk on discord to stay here until we get earth like planets in the game and populate the one earth like planet we have hear.

Tho, the galaxy look beautiful from this point of view from the edge of darkness, The sky is really dark here.

Spreadsheet updated, cartographers given search assignments. Please read all instructions: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xuW2zJH1vXNEBtlr7GPPHoLNhgFtaZw02iuN1hir6BY

Were we not supposed to do that during our original visits? I didn't go super in depth but I have found a couple interesting locations on a couple landables already, mostly in my first system. Took screenshots. I have about 150+ shots to go thru. I'm still going thru them for the spreadsheet.

I just want to point out that because I only have occasional access to Horizons, my detailed surface scan data on the DSE cartography sheet is of an imgur album showing the system view information, not a high-res surface screenshot with manually filled-in data. (I was running EDD when I made the scans so the data should all have gone into EDSM, where it will be preserved). My ability to search for surface features is therefore constrained but I did attempt it this evening, without any luck: no POIs whatsoever on three different worlds said to have volcanism on the system map, visiting the two most promising-looking areas on each. I shall try to get through the 18 celestial bodies I've been allocated to search for surface features but, realistically, I do not expect to have the time. Since most of my time is going to be in non-Horizons, I'll just go through the cluster and scan as much as possible, reinforcing what's going into EDSM.

Important question so let me explain and I hope everyone reads: if you have already have a lot of Discovery data for your system and have been reassigned, your data will not be removed. Feel free to stick your name on the albums etc. If only a few people ask, I am happy to reassign if the numbers work but the decision to have different systems for Discovery and Cartographics was made due to a) the difficulty of spreading everyone evenly over all landables and all systems and b) because we want to encourage fun and making friends

Do remember I said all along that after the second day, everything would be reshuffled. Very often you can theorise all you like about how something complex should work, but when you get to it, you realise a lot of things you didn't take into account and ways things would work better. This is how it is now. I never considered that it would be 1403 landables across 219 systems, with 81 CMDRs to look at them all!

Also remember that nothing is MANDATORY. It's very very strongly requested that we get the basics of the spreadsheet done, and that every planet gets looked at and this is the best solution for that. You can still do in depth studies of your own systems and anyone can fill in any part of the spreadsheet, but please do your designated search party systems first.

Finishing up the detail maps of 2mass jo8515515+11394
Mostly have to finish pasting the scan data onto the pictures then put them on imgur.

I already thoroughly explored both landables in my assigned system, but someone else's name was added to search the two in my assigned system.
That's fine, but might be a waste of time if there are other planets they could be checking.
I added a note on the spreadsheet that I already checked them.

I spent a couple of hours on each one last night. Several complete low orbits and 4 or 5 landings in different places on both planets looking for anything interesting.
No mountains to speak of, no canyons at all and no notable surface features. Spent a while low flying at ~2KM looking for POIs or anything that looked unusual.
I found a blue POI circle once but could not find anything in the area with the SRV. One says it has Silicate Vapor geysers but I could not locate any.
Is that sufficient? or should I be doing anything different?
I got 16 more planets assigned to me. If I spend two hours on each one it'll take me 32 hours to get through them so I expect I'll need to speed up the process.

Searching was complicated by the fact that they are High G planets which makes flying low a bit dangerous. I had one accident that took two rings off my shields but no hull damage.

I'm just here to help out, have a good time, meet new people and find cool stuff. Everything I scanned is on my personal logs and that's good enough for me. I'm just here to help :)

That being said, I'll do what I can, work schedule and RL permitting. The coolest things I've found so far were a canyon in the shape of a perfect figure 8, and a mountain that glows when the main star hits it.

I saw this flash briefly in the Hyperspace tunnel. I don't know if I should be afraid, or awed.

Should we add the Dolphin to the search list?

Was in and looked at Obsidians last videos, when i saw drkaiis video about distant stars... I got cold... Could they have departed already, without me? Yep so was it, was ment to be on this exploration, i thought I had time multicrew had not even went to beta.

So I am a bit disappointed at the moment, most on myself for not checking this thread but also a little on the expedition to not wait for multicrew.

So now I am trying to decide if I have the time to catch up on the expedition. Have to fix the last pieces on the anaconda and check so I got enough jumpinium, shouldn't take long.

So cya later, maby by the distant stars
