So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Does anyone know what these things are?

http://imgur.com/a/X2PQz

They're at the Delta site in Hawkins PLAA AEC RY-B B41-1 2B identified as a Comms(?) base.

They look like land mines and the red triangle reads "WARNING: LIVE ROUTING", what does that mean?
There's cases of the thing at this base.

Also note Caine-Massey crates are at all the bases.

I note the hydroponic plants at the agri base PLAA AEC TT-B B41-3 are red-black looking space cabbage.
The color means they can make use of nearly all frequencies of light but least absorb infra-red.

Anyone else on EAFOTS RA-G B11-0 3

My eyeballs are turning to stone and the coffee machine in my Asp is broken :(

I been on EAFOTS EL-Y E2 6 for the last 3 days. last night had the request to record the hyperspace window been the locations of the comms/settlements. mostly been fighting the gravity of the world. there are so many canyons on this world.

Searching until the zone enters the dark side dew to the planet rotation.

the heavy gravity keeps knocking my coffee pot over.

I noticed this over a year ago but dismissed it - but maybe it's worth revisiting in light of new info?

From the Formidine Rift, the view of the Heart & Soul nebula seems to correspond to the small and large Magellanic Clouds. Since Drew has posted a lot of lore about hyperspace recently, maybe there's a connection of some sort? Raxxla was supposed to have a gate to other galaxies.

Probably nothing, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I've had a theory that Raxxla may in fact be a portal to the Magellanic Clouds or one of the other dwarf galaxies nearby. I never noticed the correlation between the heart and soul nebulas and the Magellanic Clouds...very interesting.

Okay, bear in mind that this is just my interpretation - other people may disagree...

There are two threads to the Rift mystery -
There's the 'old' thread, which encapsulates Reclamation, the Kahina trip to Sol system and her subsequent disappearance, and all the mythological references contained therein.
And then there's the new thread, which is the Salome as leader of CoR, Rift/Conflux/Hawkings stuff that FDev has released recently, and which seems to tie in more closely with the UA/UP/Hyperdiction elements.

The stuff you guys are chasing around is the new thread - for which there may be stuff which requires 3rd party tools.
Personally, I don't think that anything found at these bases is going to tell us anything about the 'old' Rift mystery - rather it adds another layer of story on about the Exodus project, which was (at least in part) investigating the Rift. That is, you're looking that the story of Rift EXPLORERS, not the Rift mystery itself.

Feel free to disagree - I've been as wrong as anyone else with everything I've theorized about the Rift so far :D

You are assuming there's a disconnect but I'm not so convinced there is one. I think Salome joining CoR etc is a logical development by Drew of her character and the politics/other characters's motives that apply to the situation, and I think we are beginning to see in these bases and message logs what Drew intended the old lady to have knowledge of. Several people have suggested some of these logs might have been written by her. I don't think so, since from Reclamation we know she lost someone and then in her grief went off into space by herself where she found the FR mystery.

In Altera when the Old Woman is returning (presumably from the Rift) to the Core Worlds she looks down at the course that she plotted. Here's the text from Drew's short story:

She looked down at the scanner, seeing the hyperspace routes she had laboriously plotted; a track across the stars to the edge of the galactic arm. Thousands of jumps traced all the way back here to the old worlds.

Riedquat. Hope I never have to visit that godforsaken system again.

Note: She wasn't fly to Riedquat. Her destination was to Tionisla. This makes me think that her origin point had been Riedquat. Of course the story also suggests that she hadn't found anything during the journey (which took place in 3270 incidentally) but, we find out a few paragraphs into the story, she had already wiped her own memory at this point. She might have found something and then chosen to forget it.

And then
At the end she is presented with all her history by herself in a prerecorded message, at which point she sets up the ship to broadcast the OTSEAFOTSEA repeat message after her death when her Cobra is placed in the Tionisla graveyard

I've been out here in EAFOTS and even ventured quite a bit further out. My ASP has seen better days and has an occasional shudder when jumping more than 30ly. I can't help but think we are going about this wrong. I can tell from system scans that a lot of people are here searching and many of them have been back and forth to inhabited space. But what are we searching for? The bases are all well and good but are we looking for a ship above a planet? A weird anomaly in a system? A vortex that will shunt us across the galaxy to the Puppeteer homeworld? I'm going cross-eyed out here looking at the galaxy map and trying to sort out where to go next. Up or down? Further outward or keep it in EAFOTS? Are the base location stars pointing towards the path that was taken or not?

There should be an in game decal for Rifters. You spend a month out here you get a straightjacket decal.

Can we assume that she was part of Rift mission and one of survivors?

I'll just mention that the thargoid ship cockpit/eye shows a cat face when it glows, and there is a galaxy that also looks like a cat. I should probably mention that I often drink while playing.

UPDATED MY DYNASTY EXPEDITION POST WITH THE LATEST DISCOVERY. Congratulations Commanders!

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ift-(Part-3)?p=5011199&viewfull=1#post5011199

If anyone has more information I can include in this post, please let me know. Particularly interested in:
* Detailed planetary maps to aid in finding the coordinates
* Information about the settlements. I believe some are agricultural, other different
* Actual location and description of what the Formidine Rift Mystery actually is (worth a shot)

Oh god. Spend all day searching on PLAA AEC TT-B B41-3. I didn't know it had been found. :(

Was only a couple of pages back - discovered early hours UK time. Sorry I didn't update my overview page earlier - could have saved you some time. Good practice for the next location though!

yeah, I did, but then tried to reduce the amount of links and clutter as there is so much info in that post now. Then when this last discovery had so much info in his one post, I thought I had to link it.

Ideally I just need image links to navigation assistance maps. The rest can be in the post directly.
