Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Yes - but for the purposes of the argument the velocity of the propagation does change. Semantics aside, he was correct.

Your man that you linked to, whilst full of info is not a particularly pleasant chap is he. I've rarely seen someone so impressed with themselves.

You are absolutely correct. He is arrogant, but in a comic way. He resembles the guy from S.P.E.C.T.R.E. the bald boss guy. And if you realize his arrogance is just for show and comedy, then you appreciate his ranting more. Annoying, but truthful.

Ken Wheeler for president.. I say.

Yeah, to be honest I agree that the puzzle is not meant to be solvable right now. Ram Tah will release something that will allow us to move further. I was just hoping this archaeology thread moves past photosynthesis/light/skin/QM!

Agreed. However it's evidence that alot of people are very interested in this mystery, yet have no way to progress and so they are going off tangent.

Hey Frontier, we finished you're untimely CG, can we PLEASE progress with this, the map you gave us is too hard/not fun enough for people to bother working out.

No, seriously, it already feels like we've been waiting on the CG's conclusion for longer than it took us to complete..

yep - reckon you are right... still was fun to interrupt the monotony of working with some brief foolish delusions i could contribute to some great solution.....<sigh> oh well.

that said the CG was scheduled to run for 2 weeks, so maybe Fdev wont be ready til thursday week as they rush around to get both 2.3 out and the next ruins sites in place before they can move an inch

contributions are good, but they should always lead to something at least with brute force and even that hasnt led to much

That's exactly it though! Sarcasm isn't damning enough, it MUST be something that we can actually influence, otherwise what is the point of this game being set in a giant map - so much potential emergence of game-play, but in this case even the GC didn't immediately drop progress so my efforts towards influencing that event was superficial as well. This was all looking so promising when it was one site that had to be decoded in it's entirety through brute force - filling in the community spreadsheet was actually kinda fun, simplistic as it was.

Hopefully this delay gives more commanders time to get on board and involved with the mystery.

To do that means they are going to have to spread out and search for ruins 2, but not over focus on one specific site.

I believe that the ruins are already in place. FDev said that the keys to the mystery are already there iirc.

ok fair enough but

In the ruins
Herald articles
Unregistered comms beacons (unfound)
Other content that has yet to be located or the community hasnt seen it as such.

I will go so far as to say that any light that is reflected or refracted off of or through any material/atom/particle/space or otherwise is indeed moving slower than 299792458 metres per second.

The way you're phrasing all this makes it look like you think the act of reflecting off something causes the light to be slower from that point onwards, which is just wrong. Logically this would mean light cumulatively slows down as it moves through a medium. Obviously this is wrong too.

Your statements make it look like you don't understand the difference between the speed of propagation of light and c.
c never changes.
The propagation of light through a medium can have the affect of light taking longer to get to its destination, but the actual light isn't moving any slower than c.

Maybe you understand this, but your statements give the impression that you don't.
It's up to you to phrase your statements correctly, not us to read your mind and correct them for you.
Telling people to "go look it up" just shows that your own phrasing isn't correct enough to explain it.

I honestly cbf searching anymore, there's other games I could play. There are no tools to narrow it down apart from the clues left in the map itself, but I'm so discouraged by knowing that even if I find the right planet, I wont be sure until I have combed the exact square kilometer the ruins is on.

Mmmm is that correct? C is the constant of light in a vacuum. From my understanding light (and lets just stick to the laymans term of 'moving through' and accept that the implication is that of propagation) does indeed slow down as the medium changes. C as a constant does not change, the speed of the light itself does. i.e. light leaves vacuum travelling at/near to C, passes into a medium (say glass) and slows. It stays at that speed whilst still in that medium and then when leaving (back to vacuum), again accelerates back to C?

Galactic News: Data Appeal Concludes
Engineer Ram Tah has announced that his appeal for data from the Synuefe ruins has been enthusiastically received by the galactic community. Hundreds of independent pilots responded to the appeal, resulting in a massive influx of deliveries to Felice Dock, the campaign's centre of operations.

As the campaign drew to a close, Ram Tah released a brief statement.

"I am hugely grateful to the galactic community for its support. It is my hope that this data will allow us to unlock the monolith network and discover further Guardian sites."

Pilots who contributed to the initiative can now collect their rewards from Felice Dock in the Meene system.

So we are close enough to a solution.

Pretty well explains that the CG data will unlock the keys to the monolith network and discover other guardian sites which ram tah will then be able to give the community directions as to find the next ruins (cant get much more blunt than that)

Or we already known a solusion but don't find ruins yet.
News can be read as you'd like. Or wait and you will get a answer or you got time - find ruins or we reveal truth if you will be too slow.

Literally nothing we have can be even be considered close to an answer as to where another ruin may be located. If someone managed to find one based on what we currently have it will be pure coincidence.

Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3 was found not accidental. Read about UP code decoding and make sure that all FD mysteries can be solved ... with enough time and desire.

that's a death star...see the rivet patterns
