There you go guys. Ram Tah can access the monolith network. We can't.

We can go to a new ruins site and scan more obelisks with more relics in our SRVs though...

Such gameplay.

And yet people are still having more fun with all this crap than the dour "we told you so" sayers are having telling us so. Everyones mileage varies.

THE HUNT IS BACK ON!

All hands to these systems and commence the searching!
Synuefe ZL-J d10-119
Synuefe XO-P c22-17
IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101
IC 2391 Sector GW-V b2-4

For those who can't see the Galnet article:
Following his recent appeal for data from the Synuefe ruins, engineer Ram Tah has released a statement:

"Using the data contributed by the galactic community, I have succeeded in accessing the monolith network. But although I have detected a number of further Guardian sites – which is very exciting – I have not been able to divine their precise locations. All I have been able to do is narrow the field to a handful of systems – specifically Synuefe ZL-J d10-119, Synuefe XO-P c22-17, IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101 and IC 2391 Sector GW-V b2-4."

"Locating these sites is of central importance to our ongoing research, which is why I am encouraging the galactic community to explore these systems. Together, we can further our understanding of this fascinating race."

ON THE FRONTPAGE

I was trolling around in the Alpha Dark Region hoping to get Hyperdicted last night, no luck, so I headed to Merope 5c to check out the barnacles.

Does anyone know the location of some barnacles (I'll save you googling, it is -28.8637 -113.9954)

Ruins location is -31.8 -128.9!!! They are on the same heading from 0,0! 256 degrees

Did you know Merope 5 is a Y class ringed brown dwarf.

Bit of a coincidence?

I'm curious , where is 0,0 ? more importantly, who decided where 0,0 is? I thought most planets wobble around a centeral-ish axis, so logically 0,0 is some sort of average of the center at the 'top' of the planet, define top?, from whoms' perspective?
We ( as a species ) have have decided which way up the galaxy should be viewed. It's just as likely an alien race might decide on the opposite way.
It gives me a headache to think about it, but at some point in history, someone decided our magnetic north, was up and south is down. Logically the north and south poles of any planet are dependant on your ships rotation at the time of viewing, our ships have no UI to tell us how we are rotated in space relative to the galactic plane, so we have to manually figure it out based on our known location and how the star field looks, which is fine on edge of the galaxy but impossible when you get close to the center. So getting back to my pointless point, which way is up ?

Im stuck 500ly from the bubble in a fully loaded T9 running hauling missions. Hmmm, self destruct is tempting at the moment. If it wasn't for my crewmate, Rebeca Malone, I'd probably do it.

So, any plans to organize the search so we can focus in a planet at a time or should be better to cover more planets at the same time?

The data told us the ruling clans came from the north, so maybe thats a hint that they regard north as "up" much as we do.

^^^^ UP ^^^^

There are only 13, I wish there was a sticky thread about this as people are still confused. Brookes didn't say much, but he wouldn't lie.

Maybe getting more clues will lead us back here but for the time being it's done. If there are more artifacts they'll surely be scattered around the other ruins, and I would assume they would only work at those particular ruins. Some dedicated CMDR will sure end up doing it once the trail meets a dead end again.

Actually in Solo mode 15 different obelisk light up but only 13 can be unlocked.

I've done it maybe five times now and I can just about manage counting to 15.

And there are stickies on the front page of this thread; https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ology-and-other-mysteries-Thread-9-The-Canonn

I can think of one way to simulate PG/Open with Solo. Take 2 artifacts in the SRV, and whilst in scanning distance from the obelisk/s, send your ship to Orbit, bring It back, land near the obelisk/s, etc.

Has anyone tried this?

I have suggested this twice now over the last few days, and no one has listened or attempted to try it. :x:(

Hey mate, don't worry, I listened and I'm sure others did too! :)

So while I haven't actually gone out and tried it directly, here's the info I have to feed in - having your ship close to the obelisks stops scanners working - this applies to both your scanner and those of other cmdrs. This doesn't necessarily rule out your idea though - perhaps there is a goldilocks distance for the ship. In my personal experience there seems to be a goldilocks zone for how close to an obelisk you have to be in and SRV to be able to scan it, and sometimes it's quite big and sometimes it's frustratingly small. Maybe something similar applies for ships. Also, perhaps ship size plays a part - I was in a clipper. A smaller ship might be easier to position precisely.

On the recalling your ship bit - good idea, but it's a real lottery where your ship will land and it's probably not going to be where you need it to. So that side of things might not be a go-er unless anyone knows of a way of getting your ship to land in an exact spot when you recall it.

Hope that's all useful!

Damn stuck @ work

Actually not, I'm working from home but do actually have work to do :(

Maybe I can have a crack in my lunch hour.

Me thinking the same, but ...

Here is a pointless thought - No one go looking!! we have NO TOOLS to search a planet - which makes ZERO sense - we need FDev to give as proper scanners NOW!!!
