Addendum: Every-so-often the sound cuts out for a second (all of it). Has been going on a lot ever since the first patch.
So not just me.... I entered a support ticket for this one.

Concerns me if there's some Morse code or audio I find but my recording will have it cut out.

I notice it every time the splash screen starts, a one second gap. Didn't bother me but I've noticed that it hits in the game as well lately, sometimes on the 4 second countdown, sometimes at some random moment/location.

Anyway, back on target: I can't find anything odd in this area, going to have to knock off for a bit. Sorry I couldn't have been more help but, hey, at least we found out where it ISN'T, right? [where is it]

i just checked and im one the side of the planet where all systems with sites are at least +25 degrees up from horizon. Moon of the planet is now visible as well.

Light, once it leaves a medium, "returns" to its original speed. In actuality it never slows down but rather bounces around.

For example the light from the sun spent thousands of years before it actually "escapes" the sun. And if does so at full speed so if never really slows down.

I know, it was meant as a way to point out a kinda obvious flaw in the 'light slows down after interaction' reasoning.
But thanks for taking the time to answer, spreading physics knowledge can never be done enough (as is countering mumbo jumbo).

I usually hear it faintly at just abpout visual range when approaching the ruins at low altitude. 1-2km tops. Not definitive or measured, but I'm at site 1 now, so will check soon.

Just scooted around known ruins. Cant claim I'm hearing anything beyond normal planet ambients at more than 1km from ruins (any direction).

Something I've noticed is that if you're carrying ancient items in your hold, they chitter (sounds like insect noises) when you're flying close to the ruins.
