So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Just made it out here now, at alpha base at the moment, going to beta soon.

So has anyone worked out anything that could narrow down the search? or are we simply just looking around systems on luck? sorry if this has been covered.

Head out to this system: EAFOTS GL-Y E2
And planet # 6 is where the last Delta site is... somewhere...
(This is what we are all hunting for in the Rift at least)
See you out there!

Yep, already on it :D sticking to the light side of the planet for now combing over crevices and craters.... Npc's love craters in this game i have noticed!

I'm on PC in Mobius PVE, hopefully someone else is out here aswell in Mobius and not wrapped up in them ruins  this is a lot more interesting! Getting lonely out here haha

On xbox, loading times change when you are within 1Mm of the facility, so I'm SCing every 500km and dropping out until I detect a longer loading time.

I'm also going down the latitude, starting from 0,0, then 10 degrees to the right every time I do a full loop

Regarding the search on GL-Y E2 6, perhaps we should split the search in quadrants? I am currently searching the area highlighted in light gray, where most of the bases seem to be. Regardless whether this is correct, most likely not, splitting the search in quadrants should make it easier to deal with. In the picture below, going from latitude 0 to -45 on the prime meridian (the 0 longitude) for example, takes 3 hours, if you fly at 1500Km/hour (440m/s). We could go back and forth in that light grey box (0 to -45 on the 0 longitude, then -45 to 0 on the adjacent negative longitude and so on). Then move to the next quadrant (the one highlighted in darker grey). We would have a total of 8 quadrants to search. Thoughts?

Ill try, but despite getting better with co-ordinates im liable to fly off course! Currently at a large crater at:

-35.1134 / -151.9711

Ill have a good scout.

I hate to add to the latitude longitude issues, but how does our nav computers select the reference longitude? On the earth, the prime meridian passes through Greenwich, England for 0° longitude.

The spin of a planet can give you a standard north and south.

I'm out there on a 2nd account (CMDR Reaver One) but I'm in Open.
Not much point flying in a PG so far out, you would only run into other explorers!
I'm assuming everyone else is also searching in open?

Yeah i don't want to risk it, i haven't died this far out before. I take you you re spawn back at the last space station you came from?. Mine was back in Diaguandri kitting out my asp with all lightweight gear for the better jump range, and AFM's in case i damage something due to gravity lol.

Im glad someone mentioned this. You get a slight delay once hitting glide, if there is something to render.

Frakkin hell, thought i had something then! Damn data point beacon for the Empire.... i take it these are still random this far out in space and not linked to the settlements?

Every blue POI I have come across has amounted to nothing, and I have seen at least 15 or so.

Sorry, not "nothing", but meant not related to the settlements.

Guys, I have also done some math.

To cover 0.0010 degrees in a straight direction (0 degrees, 90 degrees, etc) you will need to be at almost precisely 125m/s (125 in normal space flight)

That means every full 1.0000 degree covers 125km. I'm covering 5.0000 degrees with every gliding jump so I'm popping in every 675km. The facility should attempt to load within a radius of 1,000km (or 1Mm ingame) so if I or anyone here detects a longer loading time they are at least 1,000km away from the facility in any direction.

Just a thing for you guys to consider

Edit: this is on GL-Y E2 6, by the way. That also means 1,000km is a full 8.0000 degrees in long/lat

We would probably be ok at adding 1 ship for every 10 degrees down the longitude we are exploring. Or something like that. I would be ok switching to latitude if the light from the main star can be left behind us to avoid glare. But then we would only be able to search in one direction becasue the return latitude we would face the star. Searching the longitude should leave the star to our sides (right or left). Sorry for mistakes, on phone rn.

Ah yea, good point about the star, hmm.....

I'm playing in open btw

Perhaps this is an old observation already accounted for, but has anyone else noticed / observed that at the -23y mark there appears to be large patches of T and Y stars? Around the rift, yes, but other places as well. Is it just a matter of the co-ordinate system originating at Sol, which is above the galactic plane slightly?

Can't say I have noticed this on PC, but will test it out.

It's instant anywhere else, except the bubble. I noticed it when I went to the alpha base, I forced dropped out of sc 30km above and there was a 5-8 second delay, same at the other sites. Dropping in on random spots it's pretty much instant but only outside the bubble, which it also happens on PC for me and on Xbox.
Anybody out here on Xbox atm on open?? Man it's lonely
