Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Hi All,

I'm not sure if this helps pin down a planet, but i could help rules out a system.

If you plot the coords of the planets in a 3d program, the following systems create an almost perfect equilateral triangle in 3d space

Synuefe XO-P c22-17,
IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101
IC 2391 Sector GW-V b2-4

the internal angles are 61.77, 59.43 & 58.5 degrees
and the lengths are 69.97 LY, 72.3 LY & 70.88 LY (this a approx as i took the coords from EDSM not sure how accurate they are

also, should you go the the pole star of the Ruins, which is B Centauri, the triangle is visible as an equilateral

anyway we can probably de prioritise the search on Synuefe ZL-J d10-119

I won't lie, I literally just started laughing when I saw the CG result. We'd been complaining pretty hardcore about not having tools to find things on surfaces and what does Frontier do? Give us 4 systems with like 14 planets to search with no tools. I know it doesn't mean much or contribute in a positive way, but I'm just waiting until you guys find the sites; enough is enough, and people not participating in Frontier's nonsense is one of the only ways that they'll get the message.

Only last week ppl were seeing threes everywhere! Next week I predict 7, after all it's lucky :)

Pfffffh.... 3? That's crazy talk... ;)

And I forgot: the ruins walls themselves form a pentagon. Five sides. If each vertex represents one of the five data-types/patterns, then perhaps the circles on 2 of the vertices signify that two of the types/patterns have some special significance for that site.

My prediction: the other ruins will also be pentagons, but each with similar(ish) circles on different vertices.

Ok officially tired of this now. 3 hrs and not a sniff. Not a whiff and no help from FD other than "heres half a billion square Kilometres. Go fetch, scanner pfffft you got eyes dontcha
Elite Dangerous is now shelved until we have something that doesn't feel like thousands of people scrambling in the dark while god mode developers sit back and quaff at us.

This is crazy.... even with amount of cmdrs looking for the ruins now it can take months before we find something... there must be some hidden clue or anything that can help us... fd can't want from us to explore such a huge area... i don't believe this...

Can't help but feel this is a waste of time. We have no reliable way to help us narrow down the search for the sites, its all going to be down to pure luck. I'm done chasing this particular carrot for now.

Yeah but you need 4 degrees across multiple disciplines to find it

That is assuming the sites are actually in game and findable at the moment. We still have no idea if the first ruins actually had the information for us to find these additional sites, or if the original puzzle was just busy work while we waited for a community goal to complete.

thats the idea, the littlest amount of developer time for the biggest grind and players sucked into the narrative, what we need is more easily accessible but procedural content. But the amount of player frustration with the game isnt at the point yet where most just ignore these little storylines and do theri own thing. So lets get on and find those ruins

the CG is over, one would expect the sites are there at least on the server side, but are they bugged like all content before it quite possibly

an intermediate scanner to find points of interest ( especially once they pull their finger out and deliver procedural content) is very much needed

One way point indicator just to know im going in the right direction of a feature I have selected but no. No way to calculate co-ordinates, no way to measure where you are In relation to anything that isnt permanent or mission essential. Now an impossible mission. We are being laughed at.

Today sucked for me, i only went looking for the ruins based on what FD said. so far iv'e spent 7 1/2 hours searching on about 4 different moons. I want to keep looking but i feel as if I wont make an effect on the whole of the research. keep me posted, i'm going to bed.

Nah...all we have to do is wait for the next CG to complete, then we will get the next chapter...Thanks to the great help from all those tons of data, I have been able to divine and suss out a bit more focused location...whew they make these tough, but thankfull I am Ram, and so very smart all by myself in my own little research facility not sharing anything with anyone...I am the border collie, and you are my sheep!

The spreadsheet has a number of finds for all 4 systems nothing significant....the more people looking the better are chances of finding it. As I posted on Reddit, I have only seen 1 crashed SRV with 8 tons of stuff, not sure how that one happened. I also found an alliance beacon other than that not much except one of the high metal planets gave me a ton of yytritum.....

Still catching up with the thread, so apologies if this has already been shown. For those of us who were hoping alignments at the original ruins would help point out something important, I made a little picture of my calculated horizon headings of the four new systems when they rise/set at the known site:

sVMzyIj.png

Make of it what you will! No immediate conclusions, other than they are all close to perpendicular to the rotational axis of the original ruins moon (i.e. 90/270 degrees). The first step in my own search will therefore be checking the pole stars of the new bodies to try to find which ones are also close to perpendicular to the approximate plane of the collected systems. Then I'll focus on the latitude bands where the galactic center lines up with the horizon like at the original site. After that, prayer :)

Whatever is happening with all these sounds and malfunctions, its creeping me out so I'm just gonna land, log out and get back on and back into the search in 2 hours or so, good luck to everyone still searching in the mean time

Haven't noticed anything odd with the equipment so far, but I just checked the module health on everything and saw this odd setting: Thrusters have priority '5'. What? Since when? I've always had them on priority 1. I never, ever, have them on anything less than 1st priority. Check your module settings and see if that might have something to do with it.

Made it to -30.2 -103.7, no issues, turned to course 180 for a few minutes then 090 for a while.

are some peeps carrying UA and UPs without resistant racks ?

"The better are the chances of stumbling on it"

As stated by another commander, this is throwing darts at a dartboard while blindfolded, you know where the dartboard is, but the chances of hitting the bulls eye?

Should have said triple top with all 3 darts, and the chances of that are even better than finding a small area on a the large surface area of a planet.
