Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

The star system was triangulated by a player using the stars & nebula seen in the guardians trailer. They were able to pinpoint the specific planet in the star system by the moon. I believe the site itself was found by a brute-force search with 20-30 commanders.

FDev is probably saying now "Oh you liked brute forcing that one? Well then here you go! Have at these!".

That is actually along the lines of exactly what I think they have done. The scientific playerbase in Elite has proven to be extremely resourceful, clever, and good at figuring things out. The only way to stop it from happening quickly is by simply not putting all the pieces there to allow for a solution...hence the info-trickling through the mission, the CG, the Galnet article, the Newsletter...

"They are not ready yet..."
"Yes, they are!!!"
"No, they are not worthy!"
"But, so much suffering..."
"Let it be then, proud and insolent youth, prepare to meet thy doom."

I still think the CG was a backup plan in case we hadn't solved the ruins puzzle.

See, that's just it. Given the crapton millions of square kilometers on the planets in the systems, it still fits the old adage...twice nothing is still nothing. What Ram gave us was useless in a practical sense...we don't need locations that are so vast as to be impossible to search...we need a method.

Hi 666Savior
I don't mind scanning Syneffe ZL-J D10-119 7D
I found a crashed alien probe when trying to get to the old coords for the first alien site but on this new moon.
(Scanned with the SRV scanner)was at -26.3314 -138.5670

a crashed ship with 6 occupied escape pods at -26.7608 -138.5225 (salvaged them)
Then a system defence force ship landed on the surface virtually at the old alien site coords, which was on a blue point of interest on the scanner
I restarted the game and it dissapeared so was nothing.

I have been flying around where those coords are. there is 2 big mountains there which I flew around.
off back to Meene now as my ship needs its hull repairing after crashing into the planet a few times doing low passes.
See you out in the black CMDRs have a good one. o7

oh and a blown up SRV with commodies to salvage at -31.5224 -128.7138

Unless the locations are hinted at by clues in the ruins. In which case, giving us the system names might allow us to put 2 and 2 together.

This is why I don't think they expect us to brute force search the lot. Or rather, I agree they probably don't expect us to brute force it - in the case of the Formidine Rift there were clues that we missed, according to Drew, the same is likely true here.

i have been able to use the formidine rift method over the existing ruins and i get an almost guaranteed 45 second load from orbital cruise in their sector.. anywhere else and its 6 seconds.. i really think thats the best brute force method we have.

The answer is in the ruins. Ram will solve the puzzle or help solve the puzzle as time goes on. With CGs and galnets, but the puzzle is solvable from the start. You can either brute force the search, decipher the ruins, or wait for the next hint.

Along with clues that were totally missing, locations that were bugged as well as missing.

Text here hasn't changed and still lists four system.

Also Micheal Brooks did not say only getting 13 was correct what he actually said is
"The behaviour for solo sounds correct, but the open situation sounds like it's revealing more than it should. We'll look into it, but I don't think you're missing anything that should be able to...
open is showing more than it should. You can still get the scans elsewhere. "

I still believe there should be a way to get 15 scans from the first ruins site as there are 15 obelisks active, it makes no sense at all to have an active obelisk that can be scanned but have it return no data.

Actualy each of the 15 obelisks gives data. But, 2 of them give data that are already unlocked. More precisly, if you reffer to the well known map the results are :
- C 13 and C 38 both unlock language#8 with Tablet + Casket
- G 19 and D 9 both unkock Historical#11 with Casket + Tablet

Conclusion : there are duplicates.
What is noticeable is the fact that the combination is the same (Casket + Tablet) for the 2 duplicates. Is it intended or not ... Who knows ? ;)
