Read First Those Lakons and millions have to go

I'd say excellent news... if it wasn't for the one remaining

Btw. I don't want you guys to think I'm panicking over this or anything. It's just that while I'm comfortably set up myself, and can afford to get another Cobra and continue testing the new gimbals balance, I feel really bad for the guys who have joined later, and who are not only being hunted by people wanting easy sidewinder kills (buttholes) but really struggling to make money with trading as the margins have been shaved so thin.

I'm certainly not, I'm average at best, I just know how to use a pen and paper.

+1

And taking a look around at all the stations. Gold used to be a favorite commodity. Gold is now even rarer. Look to new commodities and compare prices. Trading is viable. Of course, during peak hours (especially right after a new build is released!) the system will be strained. There's still good things to find though!
I know of more than a few who didn't hack, exploit OR pick up dropped gold canisters who are in a Cobra with hundreds of thousands of credits or even in a Lakon.

Progenitor Cells 36@ 6038 = profit of 28116

in ONE trip.

That took me all of 30 seconds to discover and I'm not even in game. Damn this game is hard.

Sssh! Don't tell everyone! :D
Getting a lakon through the docking bay is tricky enough sometimes without adding to the traffic.
Medicines on the way back work as a 'might as well' cargo

So if you're not in game, you can't verify that that trade run is actually accurate. Which was my point.

There is 15,000 people in the Beta. A few hundred people are crashing the economy for the rest. This is far from optimal. Having nothing to limit the attery of those committed to blowing up starter sidewinders is bad enough, but allowing this situation to continue is really not helping.

I came back after being gone for several months. I'm slogging my way up from the bottom as if none of this ever happened. It seems to be working fairly well. I bought a hauler and am very nearly back to the Cobra I had in alpha...

You know what they say... "Ignorance is bliss"

Oh, it's accurate enough - see for yourself if you don't believe him
Well I tried it last night (latest version, yadda yadda), and it wasn't accurate. None of the top listed trades had available stock in the stations. I tried it over the course of an hour, updating the tool, logging in and out... same situation.

Starting out in pb1 I was in the free sidewinder grinding for bounties, "free" as losing that ship means nothing and costs nothing.
that's where your startup capital for trading comes from

What about those with no skill or no interest in combat? Also since we're all in a rather limited set of instances compared to the number of Betas, there will be a lot of PK danger and kill sniping.

No, you just seem incapable of working for some easy creds and find it amazing someone else can do it. So because you can't I'm lying.

You are exaggerating. Let's see a breakdown of a route that nets the kind of money are talking about, in the times you claim.

If someone has done us all a service by reporting an exploit or hack they are welcome to the cash. In my opinion. With a big thanks. I really doubt those same people are using their well earned big ships to trade when they don't need to. I trade, and have been doing better than OK, maybe get a Lakon sometime next week. But I wouldn't do it if I already had enough money to buy anything in PB2. I'd be doing more interesting things. I think the market is fine. The figures DraigUK mentions match what I find.

And your starting capital for making that was? How does the new player make use of that?

There are also performance enhancers at about half that price with a similar rate of return (buy at ~3k, sell at ~3.3k). 6 federal distress signal fighters per ton of those isnt exactly a steep barrier.

You can work that out yourself. If you have 6038 then you can move one unit. But there are cheaper goods that have a better proportional margin this example is better when you have worked up to the large stake. Or go to the resource extraction and fight until you have a stake. My experience exactly matches DraigUK's.

At the moment - you're out of luck since the other credit-gaining mechanisms such as exploration and missions arent part of the beta yet. Once they are, those are other avenues you can go down to gain the capital to be a trader

Are you ready to admit how wrong you were yet?

I told you from PB2 I was making those sums and you don't believe me. I had the Cobra and funds enough to get going with different routes making even more per ton.

Starting out I done different things, combat mainly to make fast money.

Admit you are wrong and leave it there. And next time don't make out someone is lying just because you can't do something.

just for you that route I found on using Slopeys tool which took me 30 seconds, I just did.

It took me 7 mins to do one run from buy to sell. That is basically at 781cr profit per ton. And that is without even TRYING.

Using an external tool to do the work for you will do that.

He mentioned the tool because people seem to want it easy. I have made over 400,000 moving the same stock (tea or coffee the other way) but found it with the old pen and paper. The point is the profit is there. Being killed by a bored player is the only difficulty.
