Anyone else notice the wording in the newsletter?

David Braben doesn't care about roller coasters either, he is still trying to be an astrophysicist at Cambridge University.

They are just down the road.

I don't know why he doesn't just bung them a million quid and let him study there, it would put us all out of our misery..

Classy.

It's because they are winding down, getting ready to swtch off Elite: Dangerous before they release their new game (5th in the Elite series) called Elite: Harmless. :p

I heard that they are transitioning Elite Dangerous into Elite Harmless. They first have to go through the Elite Trivial phase.

"With content development reaching it's final stages" As seen here from newsletter #159 ...

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/ofs9kab3h8y4hdi/FDNewsletter159 Screenshot.jpg?dl=0

I have to admit, this has me worried, I did not expect content to be reaching the final stages of development this quickly.

I assumed that meant content development for season 2 / update 2.3 / Horizons, and that the next stage will soon begin with 2.4 / Season 3 / Whatever Model they use next...

They also create an text-based, online variant focused on communication, discussion and social interaction. It is called Elite: Whining.

It also comes in various editions: The normal one, a special entitled variant and the deluxe 'Salty' edition.

A text based Elite would be better - it would have more content. The current developers can barely string a coherent sentence together, so not only is it not feasible, it is impossible.

I have it on good notice that the world will end around mid-February. So if you want to get rid of some of your valuables before then, I can give you a shipping address.

Ouch.

Ouch II.

Eh? What's going on!? It's almost like you don't give a monkey's what those two think! How odd? Surely the affirmation of overly positive, blinkered, ED-obsessed is the raison d'etre of all fora contributors!

Personally, I'd take your comments over their obsequious forelock tugging (that's not the only tugging they do ofc) any day & although I don't agree with you most of the time..& you often seem like a troll or parody of a disgruntled customer - for example, this thread! - a healthy disrespect & cynicism from paying customers is essential to discouraging the kind of corporate complacency which may result in a hypothetical company...I don't know...only completing half of the implied promised content over..say, a 12 month period!

'Final stages' just means they are close to release a version full of mission bugs.

Then they will put it through Beta full of mission bugs, and then release it as an update, including all the original mission bugs.

A classic joke from the 'definitions' thread of another game I used to play:

Beta server - the place where bugs are tested before being released to the live servers.

They wouldn't leave clues about such an important announcement just in the newsletter like that. They would at least hide it at an undisclosed location somewhere in our galaxy, then it would be our fault that we didn't find it and take heed.

"Bring your friends or invite new crew mates to pack that extra punch" ....... clearly we are going to be able to walk around our ships and engage in mass brawling, presumably fueled by Lavian Brandy.

There is nothing wrong with the text.
The Op just did not show the preceding text, placed above the image. This is the full text:

We’ve been receiving numerous transmissions from Commanders all over the galaxy seeking more information on our next update. We're pleased to confirm that Elite Dangerous: The Commanders (2.3) beta will be landing the week ending February 26!

With the content development now reaching it's final stages, we’ll soon be able to start sharing more news and updates on exactly how the features will look and work. There will be more detail about how the core features will function in our upcoming dev spotlight as well as showcasing all of the content in our pre-beta stream!

Look out for much anticipated features such as Multicrew and Commander Creator, as well as a number of other improvements and changes. Bring your friends or invite new crew mates to pack that extra punch you might need in key situations, and add more personality to your Commander with an all-new visual upgrade.

So ready your engines and tell your friends, the Elite Dangerous: The Commanders beta is just around the corner.

Blocking that person last year was obviously a good decision.
Still trying to poison the well, as always.

Yeah, I was an idiot ... I even admitted it ...

Nah .. don't give up. I think we should put the community in charge of the asylum! [up]

from the text; features such as Multicrew (2.3, yep) and Commander Creator (2.wha ...? :D)

you know... after reading the OP i realise that
this is the usual mistake that let you think that FD is not very experienced in marketing and dealing with the customers.

the big lesson missed here is: ''simply you can't leave any kind of misunderstanding in what you write on newsletters and into the advertisements.''

Sterlino gets it.

If they've been working so hard on this new content, that would explain why they've fixed nothing. Not really a worthwhile trade-off, if you ask me.
