It's not the junior devs that need questioning. The person in charge of this entire line of project should be at Braben's place right now explaining what has gone on to avoid losing their post. I would be spitting blood and fire if this was my game and it had gone out live like this - all that was needed was for the responsible senior dev in charge to go into Open post launch and fly to each site to check each one was there, working and different.

Nobody did it. At all. That's pretty obvious - every cmdr has seen the same thing and gotten the same result so anyone going to check this stuff would have found the same.

lol looks like the SRV in That Pic cant get the Obelisks to light up either :)

I think in C22-17 AB3 is the only candidate

It does kind of jump out from the system map doesn't it? I'm flying over Synuefe XO-P c22-17 AB 3 at the moment, trying to follow the orbital path of the moon. Nice view if nothing else:

Clipper with a 30LY jump range, two SRVs and boosts at 575 ♥ What more could you want for checking planetary surfaces.

So like does the stellar forge algorithm generate the locations of this ruins?

That can be the only explanation of this being a "bug".

There could potentially be hundreds of procedural ruins out there that are in like 3 or 4 different configurations just like the planetary data sites.

We just got unlucky and happened to find one of the duplicates first. So at best this is Fdev putting a bit too much blind faith in their forge.

That's gotta be it because the other options are they designed all this from scratch and either were too lazy to actually make each site unique or couldn't be bothered to literally take 20 minutes to physically fly to each of these sites on the life game and make sure they are not bugged. Hell you wouldn't even need a QA guy for that.

Just to confirm. Site 'Alpha' and Site 'Deja vu' are identical including which obelisks are active in solo and what combo's are required to trigger a reward.
I've scanned all 13 known combos and got 13M at Site 'Deja Vu' I flew straight to Site 'Alpha' and did same scans with known combos and got nothing.
No new items, no new data, no new anything.
I so glad I only wasted a few hours searching planets with just my mk I eyeball. Such a disappointment.

Was this the picture used to determine the location of the site? Cuz this is someplace totally different. Also the guy who was on the planet with green gas geysers and a huge moon. There should be a site there. Not only that but the galactic plane can be seen right next to the moon when wieved from this angle. There should be either a very bright sun or a relatively close one indicating one of the first few planets with a moon. Which planet was the one with the green gas geysers and a moon anyone knows?

Hah!!! Site Deja vu.... im dying

I gotta ask; why is there ALWAYS something that goes wrong in this game when it comes to its "mysteries"?

Without fail. So glad I'm not on the ground spending time on this and only periodically checking in.

That is just a fancy shot that encases the whole of what Guardians was, it came with volcanism, SLF's, and ruins, that is not a picture of a specific site at all

Haha right, I'm starting to see it now more and more.
Sucks to have spent countless hours searching for something that is just the same as the first. At least as far as the ruins situation goes it sucks. I expected each site to be different make it unique but if it's always going to be the same I don't even care anymore. Especially if they are all the same bugged mess.

Luckily one good thing came out of all of this and that is that we now have a basic criteria for how brain trees should spawn. I've decided I'm halting my ruins search and am going to see if the trees are specific to this are or if they can be found throughout the galaxy. At least I know how and where to look for these guys and it won't be just an endless search.

^^ this.

Coulda launched just showing SLF's and some cool geyser action. Left the ruins as gentle teases.... but this spoilt how they look then the trailer showed them completely so none of it was a surprise sadly.

It's like film trailers - most memorably Prometheus with the spectacular ship crash shown in it's full glory to everyone. I spent the whole film waiting for the even-better moment that must be waiting because you wouldn't spoil it all in the trailer would you?

An idea about the Guardians:

Ram Tah's data shows that the Guardians fought a war against their own AI. What if some Guardians escaped in an Hyperdrive-fitted version of their old Ark (Generation) ships and are still alive, unaware of humanity. I think that some day in the future, maybe when walking around ships is a thing, a lucky explorer (or a smart Canonn scientist) will find this last Ark, and we will meet the Guardians themselves.

If these last Guardians became our allies, maybe we could own Guardian ships, visit Guardian stations, hire Guardian crew, do Guardian missions and fight Guardian criminals.

If the Guardians become our enemies, well.... We'd get some different CZs. And probably lose a war as well.

This is just a little (probably very, very wrong) theory.
o7 CMDRs and Fly Safe (or not dead :D).
CMDR PlungedSphere34.

I just woke up to see this, WELL DONE COMMANDER! At least we finally know that there are in fact more ruins out there, I'm still greatly disappointed that it took brute force searching with eyeballs to find it though.

Wait, is the layout exactly like the original ruins? That wouldn't make sense, it's on a different planet....??? :S

Well, humanity seems to utilise standard settlement layouts (e.g. Rift/Gap/Conflux alpha, beta & gamma station layouts, There are a lot of repeated pois in the bubble with standard layouts for mining stations and whatever the other bases are supposed to be for, so this does not surprise me. Why shouldn't the Guardians have a standard layout for their library/network nodes? They may have subcontracted to the aguardian versionof Ikea.
But I'm sure there will be some differences between the sites, either we haven't spotted them yet or FD need to sort out an instancing/referencing bug, we will see in the next day or so. Keep up your spirits guys, this is a game, something to do for fun. If you're grinding too much or no longer having fun then take a break, do something else for a while, then come back & carry on sciencing! :)

would be nice atleast after the initial dissapointment to try and decode some more of the obelisks if indeed it is possible, however griefers seem to be decending in droves again! back to solo..

He means the damage to the ruin, and he is right, it should not be the same.

FYI there is no difference in the sites at all, every lump of dust is identical. It's all good, its just a game and assets get re used, primary concern is the identical data available.
