I logged into my Asp this morning and discovered my paint was at 97%.

I’ve never intentionally repaired my paint. I want my ships, especially my Asp, to look well used. So I must have accidentally clicked repair paint without realising. It’s too easy to do. I would like to be able to disable this function, or at least make it harder to get at.

I suggest making repair integrity the default. Plus put the tab with both of these behind the restock function.

For my Corvette it is the exact opposite. If I see a single spot I stop and have it repainted. I think I take better care of this Corvette than my real one!

I always look after my ships, and that includes their paintwork. They have enough to put with (mainly my poor flying) without having to look shabby as well.

My response was "whenever needed". Last time, I really, really let it go:

I repair mine very regularly when hopping between stations. But I do enjoy seeing the worn look develop over a long trip outside the bubble.

My opinion might be different if I spent more time flying ships which really suit paint wear though.

If anything it is too hard to get that weathered look. Saw a video from the alpha way back, and what the sidewinder USED to look like.. I loved it, it was dirty and scabby, almost rusty looking.

I want soot marks around my positional thrusters, I want my engine too look like the pit of my garden bbq, oilleakage around the hinges of the hard-points and utility slots. I want holes and tears and cracks in the hull and paint where weapons has hit the hull, and if even possible (unless you are willing to REALLY pay big bucks) for repairs to get crudely patched-on plating over old holes. Doing real professional bodyrepair on our babies should cost megacreds.

It's a shame only supercruise wears your paint down. I'd be great if combat or colliding with stuff also wears it down.

Flying in asteroid fields used to destroy paint jobs in a couple hours and smear dirt all over everything. It was glorious.

No more though. Selling ship skins is more important than adding touches of realism to the game.

That's just a trip to the corner store. :p

It's just a pity that weapon damage to the paint isn't permanent.

Frontier won't make weapon damage to paint stay as it would allow us to customize our ships like we want and would be free. Also people would be able to draw things like genitals or swear words to their ships (i don't care about that) but this immersion ground running around probably would (in reality it would be realistic, have you seen what soldiers and rebellion groups draw on their equipment/vehicles) and someone probably would complain that then the games age rating should be higher.

I just want Frontier to copy&paste the emblem creator from battlefield 4.

I fix my paint every 3 or 4 station visits, along with my integrity. If either drops below 99% it's unacceptable.

I treat my ships like I treat my car: with respect and care. When I see gnarled looking ships with barely any paint left, I wonder how a person could defile the very thing keeping them alive in the cold vacuum of space. How many people go out of their way to scuff the paint on their cars? Might as well knock off the door mirrors while you're at it, to complete the look. Maybe curb a wheel or two.

I used to repair it regularly, but then I saw a pic of a ship with very worn paint, and thought it looked pretty cool. So now, I'm not repairing my paint at all.

As a Forester (of Dean here) the local advice always was, if you buy a new car first thing to do is drive it through the nearest hedge, because life's too short to worry about stcratching your paint (lol). Mind you, the same old fella who gave that advice, also replied (when told he shouldn't drive on a belly full of cider) that he had to drive home, from being too drunk to walk! Ancient history though (and long dead, probably through bad driving and too much gold label) so don't try that one at home you crazy kids, or you do deserve to go directly to jail.

I restore paint whenever I store a ship.

Please. If we're talking about drawing phalluses FDev started it with the Ocellus stations.

Being an explorer in the game, and liking to see the paint jobs I bought, I have to repair every so often if I ever want to actually see them... [blah]
