Ed said something interesting

I'm sure I've heard him say something similar in past during live streams before a beta launch. Normally it's a small cosmetic feature. I wouldn't read to much into it. But If you want speculation I think it's the replacement of ai mission giver portraits shifting to 3D representations using the cmdr creator.

If so, that's way more exciting than Multi-pew IMHO.

Well as the two headline acts of the forth coming instalment are...

The headliner aka MC is not for me. I'm sure lots of people will use it but by now im heading to the exit as the support bands were better than the main act.

Commander creator, aka nope cant say it... is mediocre, its a one time deal for me yeah I get to give Lok a look but once that's done it done, but its something I've been doing in games for a long time now.

So yeah I really hope FD have something up their sleeves, oh mega ships were cool but that was like the sound guy doing a sound check even before the fist band showed up, it was quick.

So with luck the special guest will be worth waiting for, but at least 2.3 will have some bug fixes im sure as being spammed by NPC's with a default hamlet who are still going to be using the one liners might get old even faster that it already has.

Like you, I'm not interested in the main act - multi-pew is totally useless to me - but the support act I'm most looking forward to is the improved camera at long last. Commander creator doesn't really interest me, but I might tinker with it.

At the end of the live stream today, Ed said something interesting that I've been thinking about:

"Let me tell you something... I don't think you seen the best stuff that's in 2.3"

It's at 1:11:54, check it.

I think one of the things that they're going to be improving is planet rendering and surface features.

My best guess would be another stupidly boring alien-related "quest".

I'll wait for them to show me rather than speculate or outright believe magic marketing talk.

Since we are engaging in rampant speculation I'll throw this really wild idea out...

I know its out on the fringes but maybe..

Just maybe...

They' re going to...

...

[where is it]

FIX THE SRV SCANNER!!!

Wouldn't that be a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge surpise?

Sorry, couldn't resist... [big grin] Okay, fun aside, I talked to Ed last night and he let the cat out of the bag, they're going to let you change the HUD colors... [yesnod]

Mhe. More content for Scott Manly videos then. Cos that's where I've "experienced" the alien additions to Elite so far. Like I've said before, to me Elite is the story of Commander Bobbydylan making his way through the Galaxy.

We're talking about the guy that was making a mess in his pants because he saw his own face in the commander creator. The greatest feature yet to be seen in the 2.3 patch is likely functioning coffee dispensers.

If it really was so exciting they would have shown it on the live-stream.

This is FD were talking about ..drip, drip, drip, some info, drip, drip, snippet, drip, drip, live stream where if I say this the 3 people who tuned in might be back next week, drip, drip...

Slightly delusional thinking there - most recent stream hit over 8k viewers and I've regularly seen it hit over 4k viewers, not to mention all the people who can't make it to the livestream and watch it on-demand at a later time.

They managed to hit more viewers than today's peak player numbers & just under half of the all-time peak, so I'd say the streams are pretty good.

Yes I heard that too.
I think Ed is a cruel person :).
