SDC Presents: Operation Healies4Feelies

This is how I know you don't PvP.

Entire wings bring huge beams to the fight on every ship, and because of the combination of this AND resistance stacking, you simply cannot do enough damage to kill any of them. This happens all the time. BBfA and 13th are notorious for this. It is a broken mechanic that needs to be fixed, because it entirely breaks wing PvP.

Now, you may think this isn't a big enough issue, and that is completely fine. The PvP community disagrees to the point that pretty much everyone I've talked to outside of those 2 groups wants them nerfed. The fact that we got 12+ Adle's Armada CMDRs to participate in what is essentially a joint operation with SDC should tell you all you need to know about that.
I never said it was fine. And I do enjoy PvP, I do not do it in full squads though, because that seems pointless, when the need arises I gladly participate, but no, not in big squad fights, this I will gladly admit to.

Here's the thing though, your statement makes no sense from a PvP perspective in my book, if there are ships healing others, you aren't supposed to be able to out do the healing in general, you are supposed to go and kill said healer, disrupt them e.t.c.?
But I would love to see som video proof of your statement.

TBH! The game is getting so "broken", in so many areas, at times I think more of us should be joining in, in a vein attempt to actually get FD to care!

I don't care about designing the size and shape of my ears. I don't care if I can point and click where turrets fire on someone else's ship. I'd prefer to have the core game working more solidly and more interestingly!
Ok please do name said areas, and please don't come with an excuse along the line of, "We shouldn't reveal all of it because, someone else will abuse it worse then us." or similar......because no, the same is not that broken, that or you've never actually played a broken game, the game has some issues and imbalances sure, but that's it. There's absolutely no excuse not to back up your claim, other then your claim not being true.

It only took months to make a really funny video demonstrating how crazy the healing beams really are in a manner even noncombat players can understand.
Didn't watch the video, can you accompany the tube with text next time?

Not just for me, but you'll reach a larger audience and I don't have to sit through some tube. Win - win!

Considering your set of skills to bring the focus on problems and communicate them in a constructive way, I wonder why the UN hasn´t contacted you guys to defeat hunger the world yet.

Personally, I´m looking forward to the block player option.

frontier would be silly to let you block players totally because it will kill open play, they have private groups for that and solo. they would lose a lot of players and the beauty of open play.

No need. Just watch the video. The music is worth it.

^ This.

Oh Lawdy, not the non-consensual PvP!

Consent was given when you clicked on Open Play, buddy.

As much as it pains me to contribute to this thread this is about the smartest thing in it.
Everyone knows what Open is or can be. If you go there and get blown up then just be quiet.

What were you expecting? **Hugs and kisses - Thanks for playing in Open**
No excuses at this stage. Or use the player block if you insist - it's your game.

Not the first time I've seen people doing this. Regeneration and Concordant effects were borderline overpowered from the moment they were introduced, so no one should be surprised that increased resistances, better beam blueprints, and a direct buff to Concordant in 2.2.03 would cause issues.

Damage resistance doesn't apply to healing effects, but does to incoming damage, so it takes maybe a fifth of the damage in regeneration sequence for a well engineered vessel to outpace incoming fire. Concordant is vastly more efficient than this. This is why healing wings are so potent. Even a whole wing can't deliver damage fast enough to counter these effects, and if the wing switches focus, the healers can switch focus as well.

Also, I should be surprised that people are so willing to fly into a station when they see several bright green beam lasers rays just inside, but somehow I'm not. I don't know what these CMDRs would be thinking, but whatever it is, it's both decidedly unsurprising and disappointing at the same time.

Thank you Morbad :)

If you could only have 1 healing beam in a group, you're right, that's not a problem. The issue is that a wing of 4 will bring 4 huge healing beams and that makes them unkillable, which is what the video demonstrates. When you need 12 ships to overcome the healing of a single beam, you literally cannot get enough people in the instance to out-damage 4 beams, which is what those guys bring to the fight.

Like always, Rinzler's video is hilarious.

Station weapons had already been used as a means to prove that engineered shields were over the top. That time FD chose to simply buff the stations weapons instead of dealing with the real issue. Probably it's what's gonna happen again.

Welcome to the revolution, brother!

Only works if there is only one healer in the wing, otherwise the healers can be healed any time they take focus fire.

If they buff the station weapons any more, clueless non-combatant CMDR vessels are going to explode when even grazed in the crossfire, and it still won't be enough to stop those vessels built to endure it.

The fix here is to reduce the magnitude of the healing effect of regeneration sequence, substantially (75-80% would probably do the trick), and revert condordant to it's pre-buff state.

I for one enjoy learning about the Elite exploits by watching fun videos, and more importantly, where do SDC dig up such great music ?

(Also if any mods are reading this thread, I might have displayed poor mobile phone discipline and careless scrolling meant I think I reported someone's post by accident. Please disregard if I have and punish me lightly for having a small phone and fat fingers. A thousand pardons)

Most areas of the development team are doing a top grade, sterling job: the game looks great; sounds great; has some pretty impressive networking technology going on (which is worthy of mention in spite of the P2P networking); and the guiding vision from DBOBE still makes me quiver with anticipation.

Enter stage left the game designers and things start to look far less encouraging.

I'm gradually changing my tune re the SDC. If dumb is what it takes to get dumb stuff changed then so be it because conventional means clearly haven't worked thus far.

Why do people fly in to the station when lazors area blazin... maybe they're like "I've have uber build nothing can hurt me" or maybe they're just on mental autopilot oblivious to all happenings around them...

I don't fly in open but even so if I hear the station go pewpewpew I'll wait til something goes boom.

As far as what to do with the healing beams... I posted an idea back at page 2 - #23 It might not be a good fix but I think it would be interesting to try.

Guys.

Why should SDC be the only ones having fun?

Get your friends together, get some healing beam trollboats put together (Doesn't have to be an FDL, SDC explicitly said they were using them because whenever an FDL gets used in an exploit people pay attention) and go lock down the station guns.

You don't have to shoot other people, just shoot each other so that other people can come into the station and enact their own shenanigans.

The more people who do this, the more FDev will have to accept that there are serious issues with the game and fix them. Hit up the station blind spot, exploit the fact that stations target motherships over SLF's, do whatever, I don't care, just start breaking the game en-masse so that we can get some fixes.

Credit farming exploits gets patched out fairly regularly, but game-breaking combat bugs don't?

No, I'm sorry. A bug is a bug, fix it. Stop leaving the game broken for months at a time.

I was just about to ask this... A wing of FDL's already implies shenanigans are afoot. When two huge beams are going back and forth inside the station? Just back out of the station!

Yet, open is working fine with the only exception being people not wanting to be in open enough that people have made threads posting about wanting people back.
So yeah blocking seems to be just fine, has worked like this forever, doesn't anyone read the manual?

So you are saying the problem is only with 'very' large scale PvP? maybe, just maybe that is what should be looked into then? that said if you have if you have say, 4 wings vs 4 wings, one wing of each is full healers, 'everyone' targeting healers generally would destroy them quickly? then you move on to other targets? other games have had these issues, tactics were the solution, not nerfing the healing itself, why? because it affects everyone equally?

And that's my point, if its equal to everyone, then tactics will likely be the solution, used to be in various other PvP games I've played, and played dedicated PvP in.
