10 is a meaningless number FD threw out for shareholders for a reasonable lifecycle. FD will support ED for as short or long as it is profitable. They could easily develop the game for 15 years at even twice their current pace. Lots of opportunity for technology upgrades as well.
I know, but since 10 years were Frontiers words, I just repeated that. Everything else is just speculation..
Considering it is FD we are talking about - they will support it as long we will support it. Profit makes less prominence here. This is David's life work after all.

Not trying to be snarky (well, maybe just a little) but where's that game? I want to play it!
Seriously though, I know it's just a cinematic trailer, but the overwhelming impression I get from that is that there's huge squadrons and areas with large groups of player interaction. When in reality, much of elite feels alone and desolate. (yeah, i know, it's space, i get it)
I guess what I'm saying is I would love to see some large group co-op battles similar to what's represented in the vid. Unfortunately, any time you do get into an instance with others there's the overwhelming feeling of "ok, who's gonna try and gank me??"
Ah well, still a really cool video. Especially the asteroid bases part. Please tell me those will be player owned.
Its interesting - but none of what is in there cant be done. And expect high player numbers with the PS4 - install base is massive and always keen to pay online (unlike PC players in general).
If they wern't too long I'd say that playing one of Isinona's videos of his gameplay is apt, and for me I'd say more compelling. But trailers are trailers I guess, and meant to show the sides it might best appeal to the audience.
Thats true (not sure about twice the current pace - I think game development is hard, and while they have new people now, it always takes time to get up to speed).
However - 10 years might be when they decide to make a new one :O - Elite:Memories of a Thargoid Love Nest (Or how I met your mother)

WOW I have watched the video 12 times it looks fantastic but can you here every body scream when its launched and most of what they have seen is not possible, I hope frontier know what they are doing because if it works it will be fantastic if it does not look like that there are going to be a lot of PS4 players asking for their money back. I hope and pray it works because if it does there are going to be a lot of very happy people playing.

I can tell you this trailer is not purely in game footage. However...
In this trailer, compared with previous ED trailers, there were relatively few things which jumped out as not being possible in game. Though still ... enhanced ... this may be the most truthful trailer yet.
I see the day coming, possibly still a ways out, that Frontier will not have to enhance their trailer experience and can just cut together game footage to create a fantastic trailer like this.

Yeh I understand most is not in-game footage which is not a criticism at all. I am just curious and desperate(!) to see how the game looks and performs on the PS4.
