It's time to dig out that old copy of Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball 3
Project Scorpio will probably be compatible with all Windows 10 headsets, though, so we'll be able to use the headset of our choice.
The hardest parts of the battle (design & implementation) are all already done, because vr is up & running on the pc version. The remaining challenge for consoles is a technical one; how to squeeze it out of the more limited hardware, cause adding vr into the mix is a HUGE added overhead if you're not skimping heavily on graphics fidelity (you basically have to produce each image twice, once for each eye, and today's consoles tend to already struggle to produce just the one image at the res & framerate gamers expect).
Scorpio I'm sure will be capable without breaking much too sweat, ps4pro will also probably be fine, the base models of xbone & ps4 will perhaps be more doubtful.
Understand from a design and implementation aspect this has already been done for PC, but I was curious how that translated over to the version we have on console. i.e. is there any additional programming that would have to be done for console?
I'm sure Scorpio will be able to run VR, but it will be up to the game developers to support it. I guess that's really the question. Obviously they don't know the specs for VR on Scorpio yet, but is it even on their radar? I'm sure it's going to be some extra work, but there may be very little gain.
I'm dubious on if it'll work with all options, given MS' partnership with Oculus and how all their stuff so far has focused on support for the Rift.
same here, though, i'd only buy it if Elite will support it. no other game is VR worthy..
I'm waiting for the Scorpio to be released, I'll get one for sure.
Then I will see what VR possibilities are available for the Scorpio.
I won't buy a VR set for the Xbox One right before the Scorpio being released.
Exact same spec as Oculus CV1 but no headphones included. Bad mistake as you really would want it all combined and not need to fix fiddly extra buds with wires dangling around your head. They really should have made it same as Pimax for increased resolution. You're being drip fed the technology that they have already. Should be 2k per eye by now!
No its not true, Elite runs perfectly fine on XboxOne. Its similar to a mid range gaming pc.
And i have no doubt it will run perfectly fine on PS4 as well. Even better on The Pro, and Scorpio.
well stick to the pc then its not that hard to make that decision. I'm sure people with more technical knowledge have seen it can work or it wouldn't be vaunted as the next thing coming out on the xboxIm terribly sorry to burst your bubble Dusty but Elite does NOT run perfectly fine on the XB1. The optimization is some of the absolute worst i have seen in recent memory. A similarly powerful( or even weaker) PC runs elite SIGNIFICANTLY better. The XB1 "gets by" but barely. Framerates are not constant and on planets they REGULARLY dip down into the low 20s and stay there. Maybe you dont notice because you are not sensative to framerate issues but anyone who is will be DISGUSTED with planetary gameplay on XB1. I can assure you this is not the case on PC. And dont even get me started on Menus taking 3 minutes or more to load on xbox (which also does not happen on PC). In short....if the xB1 cant support a stable 30 FPS what makes you think it could ever support the 90 needed for VR (or even 45 + ASW)
Source: i actually play the game on both platforms. (VR on PC)
The current XB1 has "virtual viewing room" Oculus support (which still needs a windows 10 PC to run) but i doubt it could run anything but the moste bare bones games or aps in full VR (which is why it doesnt). I feel like ED "COULD" run just fine on the XB1 if a better team of coders worked on it but i seriously doubt XB1 could support Elite in full VR.......ever. Have to wait for Scorpio for that. For now though..... i would settle for a stable framerate on the XB1
You play on an Xbox One and not Xbox One S, right? Because on my Xbox One S, the game runs better as on my Xbox One before.Im terribly sorry to burst your bubble Dusty but Elite does NOT run perfectly fine on the XB1.
