Hardware & Technical which flight sticks should i get? X-52 or X-52 pro?

i cant make a decisions either one i pick it will have to be used since i am spread thin this year for games. I've been digging the X-52 pros, but doesnt mean i cant get the basic X-52. i Would have gone for the X-55's but they are a bit expansive. Any experience with either or would help me a lot

The X55 should be an excellent joystick but has been plagued by build quality problems I'm getting one anyway.

The X52, if you live in the UK, as far as I know can only be bought from abroad. If you go through Amazon the suppliers are in Germany and the Netherlands. And as for the X52 Pro....I had one, it developed a fault which led to its return and I haven't been able to get my hands on one since.

I have an X52 and X55. The X52 works quite well and have no complaints there. I use VAC (voice commands) so don't really need all the extra toggles for Elite on the X55, as Elite can use keyboard and joystick for the action.

Hope this helps

Aesthetically, I prefer the X52 pro - it shows off it's quality better (IMO).

Depends if you want a "Spacey" HOTAS or a present day look. Performance wise, there's not much in it.

I went for Pro because I heard the spring on the x52 was a bit weak. I have only used x52 pro, so can't compare but I am very pleased with the Pro. Worth the money.

Only gripe is the sticky points near min and max throttle are fixed. I'd prefer a sticky point in the middle tbh.

At the moment I have set with zero throttle at the centre with a deadzone and with the optimal power (forwards and backwards) at these sticky points.

It's a good compromise but I am still tempted to remove the part that creates the sticky points altogether or even mod so that it has a sticky in the centre like the thumb wheels.

I'd have to try out a different joystick before considering changing.

well im american, I've been trying to find a used X-52 pro for the time. It appears this game is very popular with ya'll in the UK. Looks like the pro is the way to go.

They are expansive

Since i have been heavy involved with flightsims (Falcon 4.0 bms, dcs A-10, I have the thrustmaster warthog and saitek rudders. Heavy stick and all the buttons you will need :)

I just found one (used x-52 pro) on Craigslist for $100 in my area in Philadelphia, but they are few and far between. Upgrading from my Logitech 3D pro it is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it.

Best of luck finding one tho. :D

I realise it doesn't directly address the question you asked, but if you're stretched for cash what about the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X? I've never used one, but people say it's a good stick for the price.

eh im not feelin the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X

I'm lucky to have picked up a X52 on ebay last year for a bargain price and can't complain at all really, even if I'd paid full price I'd not complain! Never used a Pro version, but as with all sticks, some people love them, others have had issues.

Were you buying new, I'd suggest the X-55 without hesitation. I wouldn't swap mine for all the Tea in Azeban City. :D Early ones may have had minor issues but the current crop seem to be an improvement. And don't forget, a fair few X-52s and X-52-Pros have needed to be RMA'd as well. A certain amount of uncertainty seems to be a part of the Saitek experience, I'm afraid.

Buying used, go for the X-52 Pro model. The hardware side was improved as a result of lessons learned from the original. Enough said...

I bought the pro because I didn't like the silver on the standard, and because I wanted control over the LED colours.

Sad, right?
