To those who are worried about FDEVS finances..

Sure, I'm playing many games too, however as I spend a lot of time in this game, I would like to know if the game will last next year or if there is a risk of dumping it.
The reason for this thread was due to some members of the community were concerned about the finances of the company.

Previous threads pointing out Frontiers market position have never managed to alleviate peoples concerns and I suspect this won't either.

It's just one of many things people here use to talk down the game or talk it up.

I must admit I do sensibly chuckle when I see threads and posts from people losing their minds over Frontier developing more than one game at a time.

Fantastic Beasts (Harry Potter) or Jurassic Park

Holo Me / Kinectimals show how good FDEV are at detailed people / animals. They could make excellent beasts / dinosaurs.

FDEV keep growing and ED will grow with it. But it takes time.

"LONDON (Alliance News) - Video games developer Frontier Developments PLC on Monday said it has licensed rights from an unnamed Hollywood studio to develop its third game franchise.

Frontier said its third franchise will be based on an "enduring movie franchise of global renown", but provided no further details on which movie franchise the game will be based on. It said further details will follow later in 2017.

Looking at their expertise, it's mostly a: theme-park games and b: sci-fi sims. I can't imagine a movie franchise related to the first. Which makes me wonder if it's a MMO to go along with a sci-fi movie series. The obvious ones would be Star Wars or Star Trek. The most recent ED teaser is definitely more Aliens than either of those.

Wing Commmander. Based on the movie, based on the game - game/movie-ception!

And they'll release it before Star Citizen just to rub salt in :p

Anyone who has expressed an opinion towards frontier being in financial trouble, are there any, was simply a clueless muppet. Which begs the question why even bother starting this thread when it has never been an issue.

You can relax now :D

The new game will be the third developed by Frontier after Elite:Dangerous and Planet Coaster.

However that will take resources and manpower away from ongoing game development (ED/PC), how they are going to manage that will be interesting.

my bet it's going to be a Kong game.. you will have to assemble a squad to take the beast down on a remote island near the Antarctica....

"The third franchise is an important next step in our growth. We have chosen to license this particular IP to work with as our third franchise, because we believe we can create something very special. It is creatively stimulating, already has a high worldwide profile, and is a perfect match for our expertise," said Frontier Developments Chief Executive David Braben."

Hope it is Star Wars elite version.

Dumb. Stock price is not Frontier's finances. A company can be hemmoraging money and still have have high stock price.

Products like Pizza and other short term products really doesn't matter. However Imagine if you time warped back to when the iPhone was introduced, and you needed a new phone.

Nokia or Apple? Nokia was one if not the biggest mobile phone producer in the world, where are they now???

Elite Dangerous is not a short term product for many of us, this is a journey, and we would like to know if the ship that takes us on this journey is in good shape and can bring us all the way to the finish line.

A lot of people are concerned, but the concern is not built on facts.

Elite Dangerous is a computer game. It is not a mortgage.

Well...id lose grip on my latte in surprise when they start developing this one ! P ( By development I don't mean 3 steps back one step fwd)

Thank you for bringing data. Every schmuck who ever took a business class likes to pretend Fdev is in peril. They are not. That paint job you buy is not saving the company despite what some people like to think.

Yeah, if $5 paint jobs were critical to the ongoing success of ED, it was already doomed.
