Occurs to me if this was in live you'd have everyone from the alien ruins sites, Formindine rift etc all descending on your location to see whats going down
Seriously FDev take note - this is a good way to have some gm "curated" content - release something like this as recovered vid logs or some such and then have actual content and missions hanging off it when folk get to the "abandoned" base.
Who knows whenever we get "space legs" it could lead to something akin to exploring deserted bases/ships along the lines of Soma from Frictional Games.
OMG! OMG! You're not leaving us hanging there, are you?????? Yikes.
Great work. Loved it. Suspense = 10+
THIS is the camera work we've been dying for.
Question: How do you get your character's mouth to move in synch with your voice? Is that supermarionation? If so, Gerry Anderson would be proud of you.
lol, that was the intention, to leave the video at that point.. so your left wondering what would you do if in the commanders position.. face the consequences of staying in the SRV and running out of oxygen, or face whatever lies in the settlement..
I was trying to find a quick and easy way to animate characters faces. So I used CrazyTalk.. but the results were not what I really wanted. I could rig a 3d Character, but it was going to be too time consuming. However in the future, I might reconsider this.
A lot... lol... A lot of it had to be re-shot as well. I just did a clip count in my project file and there are 146 separate takes. Of course not all of them were used.
I have actually talked to him, as I wanted to know the process he used to create the characters. For me, its a bit too time intensive at this stage, but I am going to look into ways on how to speed up this process.
"Picture if you will... Vindicator Jones, a salvager and adventurer such as you would find plying among the spaceways, with an Anaconda ship and a faithful if somewhat sarcastic crew. On most days, a distress call might mean payday or a chance at heroism. But today is not most days. Vindicator Jones has just taken a Witch-Space jump... to the Twilight Zone."
great job, as always, but this cam is definitely a new level!
a hint: turn off the in-game clock, it can easily make some continuity errors sneak in
spoiler alert (ignore if you haven't looked at the vid yet):
eg., just before the ship disappears the reading is about 4:00 in the srv. minutes later, when the cmdrs is staring around looking for it at the spot, it reads 2:00
DAMN.. I actually forgot about the clock.. Nice catch..
But yes, many shots had to be re-shot to match the script as it evolved, and so of course a lot of the shots were shot out of order... Which meant the settlement was sometimes in darkness, and other times in the light! lol
I couldnt control the flow of time on the planet, and waiting until the next cycle was just way too long.
To Everyone else, thank you so much! I appreciate the positive feedback, and I am so happy everyone liked it. Part of me was thinking this was going to be a failure due to my sucky voice acting and pathetic attempt at a russian accent.. lol
