Elite Dangerous 2.3 Beta Q&A Part 2 - Tuesday 21st March 7PM - Your Questions Needed

OK, I guess I have one - at the PAX Q&A the question of the increasingly unpopular comm's panel re-design was raised and Sandy said they were aware of the situation and might consider changing it. We've had a few beta updates since then with no changes to the panel. What's the current state of play? (I'm genuinely dreading 2.3 going live with this as it currently stands - sorry).

YESSSSS!

Hello!
Question: What is the status regarding our beautiful moon? Will we get to land on it during season 2?
Thank you very much!

Are there any considerations to buff the shields on the Imperial Clipper to make it a more viable combat ship or reduce its cost and size to a medium hull?

Will the Imperial faction get a medium sized ship like the federation?

Can the commander still pick up missions if there are other players on their ship?

When I join a multicrew ship, I can't see any orbit lines in supercruise. Is this a bug or by design, and if it's by design, could you reconsider? No orbit lines means no frame of reference, and it makes being a passenger in supercruise very boring.

[Unrelated 2.3 Question]
Similar to the PC's CTRL+ALT+G key binding for turning off the HUD, can there be an option under the "Miscellaneous" tab for the Xbox One/upcoming PS4 for there to be mapping of controller buttons and analogs to perform the same action?

I'm sure it'll be far to late to get an answer for this but I'll ask anyway.

Question: For the sake of completeness in multicrew: Are there any plans for a large turretted multicannon? It sucks that the only options for large kinetic weapons that a gunner can use are cannons and frag cannons, both of which burn through ammo quickly.

Thanks to Sandro Sammarco for answering so many questions this evening and to Ed for helping out and providing him with a supply of water and biscuits to keep him going! o7 (Glad to see you all made it back OK from PAX and have recovered your energy/voices).
Thanks for the answer to my question - I did understand it and it sounds like you are using the colour temperature, with some aesthetic modifiers, to generate the colours. I was wondering if not doing that might be a contributing factor to the similar planet surface colours (beige) but clearly it is not. Indeed, since you are doing it properly, this should allow for both a realistic and appropriately diverse colour base.

Just to let everyone know. I see your questions and will be doing a major update after work tomorrow to include them.

The monster list of open questions will live on.
Format is pending a change or two but I'll be sure to copy across everything.

Been down pub. Missed it. Quick sumary plz.

120+ Questions answered, sadly your engine colours was not one of them.

Lots on Exploration, bugs, General 2.3 related and tons of other questions on BGS, NPCs, Missions, ships and weapons and storage..
Little to zero on Hardware or Visual design as Sandro made it clear they are not his department.

Overall I thought it was a pretty great livestream. Lots of enthusiasm, some really good questions and answers, sadly not too much amazing new groundbreaking info but lots of bits tied up and a bit of a feel for the dev direction. Felt like a lot of genuine answers to questions lots of people were asking. Felt a bit like more of a "future stuff" Q&A than "current" Q&A.
Props to Ed and Sandro tacking an extra 30 mins on the end to cover more questions!

3 key announcements I took from it:
Full CG in April in Colonia (Not expansion initiative)
Video/trailer competition starting sometime shortly after 2.3 goes live
Sandro No Sammarco is now Blandro No Sammarco.

As you were.

Full thread update coming tomorrow.

I enjoyed the stream a lot. It would be great to have the questions captioned on the screen since Sandy rattles them off so fast sometimes I don't hear all of the actual question he is then answering. But I know they are trying to get through as many as possible at the same time.

Seeing the questions that will be answered in advance of the next Q&A would be great though. If not on the actual screen during the stream, then perhaps a forum post copy of Sandy's printed list?

Sorry to jump in but... What was the chat on npcs? I forgot all about it.

Thanks and thanks for organising Q&A

Someone may be able to give more details but (1) it doesn't sound like Frontier are done yet on adding more persistence to npc's. (2) There was also an answer that hinted at special circumstances, that might bring you into contact with ultra-deadly npc's, by choice and (3) another that made it sound like npc's wouldn't need to be buffed higher so much but player ships are being brought 'back into line' with their intended balance vs npc's. That's how I heard it anyway.

I just hope for the day when I can target a wanted NPC for bounty hunting in one system.....knowing that I can then track them across multiple systems before finally taking them down. Same with piracy ;).

Great stream!

I think the idea for another one is also brill!

I won't submit any questions next time as I think I had 3 read out...
