Have you had someone kill themself on your hull when flying below 100? Does that negate the bounty? If so..i didnt know that. Its not a question about it being hard. But thanks for the info.

I have had people try over the past year, none of them succeeded because I kept my speed in check. Kill your speed not your credit balance.

If you're below 100m/s and a guy rams you to death you won't become wanted and the station won't attack you. The comms contact of the station will probably tell you to slow down though haha

Ive had my ship rammed to death before even though i was Auto Docking (so not speeding).

Its doesnt matter.

Trolls gotta troll.

Im open to suggestions.

Not tears. Annoyance.Anyway, i just wanted to make my point HERE before FD got the video so i would have at least some case to defend myself.

Hi Op , truly sorry for your loss, I am but Cmdr Sugarat is right, you could have thought about the insurance part.
Dont fly with out sufficient insurance. Honestly m8 there are no excuses..
Hope you get topside soon ;)
Cheers Cmdr's

No, it's not that hard to keep under 100 but you miss the point This kind of childish and vindictive crap should not be allowed to continue. The complete disregard for a crime and punishment system is really starting to wear thin. I'd like to play in open but I refuse to be the thing some adolescent jerk gets off on that night.

Your speed, or keeping it under the limit; is probably your best defence.

Question for the 'guys in the know'. If you don't go over the 99ms (also taking into consideration the other ships impact may increase your own speed), if the other ship dies, you don't get a violation punishment; is that correct?

I ask this because I get the station announcer warning me not to recklessly fly; if another ship runs into my ship. Even if I have come to a full stop, before contact.

What happens if you are doing the smuggling CG, don't you have to speed to avoid the scan?

Don't speed get scanned? Speed get ganked? Awesome. :)

As ive said..its wasted millions due to griefing either way. Rebuy or not.

With respect, im not missing the point. You are.

BUT we can agree to disagree.

The collision rule is simple:
- when ships collide, anyone flying faster than the speed limit (100 m/s) will get a fine
- if one of the ships is destroyed in the collision, the other one will have a murder bounty on them if they were speeding (regardless of what the other ship was doing) and will walk away as if nothing happened if they were not speeding

The speed limit was introduced precisely to give people a way to prevent this kind of behaviour from affecting them. When there was no speed limit there were already suiciwinders, except they could get you killed even if you were completely still.

...I might be wrong about this though, I don't know if there were full consequences regardless of speed or if there were no consequences at all for ramming and killing ships... Can someone correct me?

EDIT:
Kinda.. the speed limit was introduced to stop people in larger ships ramming players to destruction, the change just made it easier and cheaper for the rammer tho'.

Im getting conflicting reports on this then.

You dont need the station to kill you. A troll player will hang around a station in a cheap ship and can simply Ram you while you are docking.

Depending on his ship and hows its equipt he will choose his targets and boost/smash/kill/lolz.

Silent running and or pop a heat sink when you get the scan.
I do it just for practice when I'm cashing in at a CZ. Also to hear the grumpy Fed controller.

Hard to stealth with someone ramming you I suspect.

Once again, it doesn't matter if someone rams you if you are flying below 100 m/s. It's not complicated, keep your eyes on the scanner, remain below 100 m/s if you want to ensure safety.

You can also stay off the authority patrols scanners whilst remaining shields up - Shut down non essential systems, keep an eye on the patrol patterns and dump a heatsink on the way in.

The patrol patterns are predictable, the NPC's generally fly in formation around the slot.
