What happens if you are doing the smuggling CG, don't you have to speed to avoid the scan?

Don't speed get scanned? Speed get ganked? Awesome. :)

Found that if using docking computer and I line up in front of the letter box (so that any final approach maneuvers are kept to a minimum) before engaging the DC I have never been successfully scanned by the fuzz, granted, any large sized outgoing traffic may mess this up. Usually start at about 3.5 clicks out. Also I have not used the DC for quite a long time.

I sure hope you learned your lessons, OP.

Never fly what you can't rebuy. Obey the speed limit. Don't clog.

What a hero.

Clearly you choose to ignore the fact that suicide ganking is a thing. The real question is...why?

I suspect we will never truly know the answer, whatever you choose to reply with.

To be honest, I don't think that I would be using the 'keep to the speed limit' option, when playing a CG in open; even though I would recommend it to others. Smuggling is my forte and running into stations is my kind of fun, but I am yet to see a sickly sidewinder, waiting to up-set my day.

Its clearly a problem.

Suicidewinder ganking is a thing. Weve all seen it. It shouldnt BE a thing.

Simple. No?

*shrugs

No it shouldn't be a thing, neither should idiots on bikes turning into a truck's blind spot, or car drivers that deliberately crash into you for insurance scams. Cover yourself by following the rules inside the NFZ. It's not like you have to do it all the time in ED, only in open play at stations with heavy traffic.

The reason why that idiot targeted you was because he knew you were breaking the law.

Yeh apparently its your fault for some total idiots behaviour. I honestly don't see why people would defend such a peon. :S

Exactly my thoughts.

Edit: How would you deal with a sickly sidewinder on the dock and you were smuggling to avoid being stopped by the sidewinder (and scanned) but if speeding potentially getting done for murder?

I don't see anyone defending the "peons". People are just pointing out that their antics are easily avoided or rendered ineffective most of the time.

I get what youre saying..but unlike idiots on bikes...this problem can be fixed with maybe one line of code....

Sall im saying..

Yeh while no one is actually saying "Hey, that ramster, great guy! Good job". Its just the general tone of responses I guess.

To the guys complaining about the current way it works, I'd like to tell you something. This is a very complicated matter with no perfect solution.

Remove the speed limit and make it so you don't become wanted if you're hit by a suicidewinder? Okay, then instead of suicidewinders you'll have big ships ramming you until you explode.

The current solution offers you an easy solution to avoid any problems: Don't go over 100m/s.

Flying without insurance, is also a thing. It IS a choice the game offers to us all, but it can be an expensive choice.

As ive said about 56 times. It still cost millions annnnnd millions due to an exploit. Rebuy or not. The point is entirely missed.

Is prevention not better than cure?
In the current situation, obeying the speed limit is prevention. As mentioned earlier, the speed limit was put in place to discourage antisocial players disrupting others' gameplay by ramming them with big ships & effective impunity.

Would like to hear what kind of fix you had in mind ("this problem can be fixed with maybe one line of code") though.
