i gave in, leveled 4th crewmember to just off deadly. and guess what happened...

Lol unlucky.

I can only assume you was still classed as "in danger" when you tried to quit, which brings up the annoying timer.

FD need to do two things.

1) fix the (legal) combat log dialogue, so you quit, confirm the quit, and after 15 seconds it logs out.
Real life does call, and postmen tend not to wait 15 second. Lol

2) give us, atleast a chance, a way to recover lost crew using missions.

i agree with both of these things. hell i would take even increasing legal log out to 30s IF it would allow me to get up and run AFTER confirming and it auto log me.

2) but this one is the biggest "yes please" from me. so many gameplay options rather than just having a black or white - live or die - mechanic. (my fear is people will complain so much they will just make crew invincible, possibly if we fit an escape pod... but for me this is *almost* as bad as 100% loss on death. give us some gameplay around it please!.).

@ other posts in the thread
as for making everything telepresence so no risk at all....... i hate multicrew telepresence. I belive i saw the baby flying out of the window along with the bathwater when FD wrote multicrew telepresence into lore.... if it has to happen without anything gameplay related to back it up FD should have just let it "be" just like instant regen of your body and ship replica destruction.

They didnt.... but please god dont go even more overboard and make everything telepresence.

Sorry for your loss.

Regarding what has happened to you and from my own experience , I never trust the menu again and when I want to be safe I quit the game for good towards desktop . And when I really can't do that , the safier way to be out of harm is just to drop from supercruise to normal space . Then you can stay with very little risk.

I mourn A.Ashley.

Ps: it seems that in beta some people have reported that crew member no longer die but are treated as yourself . Hope it will go live.

I fell in love with mine.

When I realized she would eventually be killed I decided to self destruct so we would always be together.

Now I'm looking for another. I imagine this relationship will end the same way.

Mwuhaha mwuhahaha mwuhahahahaha!!

Totally wrong with your outlook on combat logging.

If you need to go answer the door for real life issues, you just get up and walk away from your pretend spaceship.

Making combat logging even easier than it is, is totally derp.

Since you have the ability to hire a person in game and you also have the ability to invest in that person and train him/her thus creating a bond, it is rather stupid to let them die, while you escape in your pod. If thats frontiers idea to make this game more challenging and difficult then.. what can i say.

I know 2 people that dont bring their elite crew to pvp because they dont want to lose them, and i know one person that logged once on another cmdr for the same reason. One may say that they are lame, but i would say that the game needs fixing.

15 second logout timer was a nice idea, but implementation is worthy of facepalming.

Easy easy fix:
Increase timer to 30 seconds.
Game auto-logs out when timer runs down.

Done! :D

Missions to recover lost crew would be great. Even if it were a basic nav beacon scan and travel to a signal source to cargo scoop them. The mechanics are already in game. The "loss" would be the time and effort to go out and find them again.

The best and most immersive option would be: We never ever even can't logout. If we quit the game, we are still there......idling in the space or starport or wherever we are at the moment.
Everything can happen while we are absent.

Be like SHODAN treat the AI crew as expendable assets after all they are just data ;)

If you're afraid to lose it, don't have it. Your friend wouldn't last a minute in Eve with that attitude.

A game only qualifies as a game if you can both win and lose, at the moment "losing" is only having to press the rebuy button if you make a mistake, at which point you lose nothing but credits which everyone will agree; are ridiculously easy to make.

This entitled right to keep your crew is a result of FD hand holding for to long and not acting soon enough with real loss within the game.

I can imagine the threads that Hutton Orbital is completely full of dockers.... :D

I dont understand why the crew doesn't telepresence like the rest of us.

i am not happy posting this as personally i am dead against writing in magic crew telepresence given lore wise it is already decided it has a 3km range limit .... but for arguments sake

perhaps only pilots federation members are "special" enough to be given the equipment needed, much like the ejection system we have compared to the cryopods npcs have to put up with.

Hear, hear.

Did anyone even notice the penalties from death before? Like seriously?

I know some people like to moan that the rebuy cost for big ships is huge, but for the love of lemons....good. Since when did anyone at FD say "you should be able to fly a several hundred million credit ship around the galaxy basically for free"?

The only time I've noticed this being an issue is in PvP if you want to bring a bigger ship to several fights in a row. At present we just kind of have to deal if you can't hit up 17 draconis or similar and suspect that will be the way for a very long time. Good thing I love my iCourier...

LOL, That would turn the tables on all the PVE = easy mode comments.

Aye, thing is, to lose something like a Conda or up, you've reallllyyyyy gotta screw up. It might cost a fortune to rebuy but A: its hard to lose in the first place and B: you can make the credits back in less than a day! Big ships like that can pull in some serious £££.

I just bought an Annie to give it a bash, made me realise how much i love my Clipper :D.
