The UK can't possibly survive without the EU.... you know... like it did for hundreds and hundreds of years prior to joining.

Huh? Nobody has claimed that it can't survive. It just won't be the prosperous island, open to business that it has been for the last 40 years. It's likely to shrink down to just England & Wales soon as well (plus some overseas holdings, for now).

Tough, Democratic elections AND referendums is democracy in action, We would have to put up with the EU if they had won, but they did not :)

Now we have Airports, ferryports and one large mother of a tunnel. if they don't like Brexit they can all move to the EU , but none of them are as the EU citizens who still want to stay with us.

Like I said, remember this triumphant feeling. Count what you gained and what you lost in five years. See if you're better off, and how much personal "freedom" you've gained.

In reality you're losing a lot of personal freedom, going from a citizen of Europe to a citizen of a few islands and the Rock of Gibraltar (for now).

And also, this means EU going to make as hard for the UK as humanly possible. brexit is screwed up beyond any recognition.

Why? The UK is going to be, all things being equal, the EU's largest goods export destination. The EU would be ours. No-one wants to stop trading with each other. Politics aside, it's in no ones interest to make this more difficult than it needs to be.

So, in other words (actually the words of liberals)... "This is what democracy looks like!"?

Remember, to them it's only democracy when they win.

Of course the UK can survive without the EU, I don't think anyone's arguing that it can't but the fact of the matter is, regardless of what any of us think of Thatcher, she did get us a very good deal with the EU. We had one of the best deals of any country in there. What we'll get now is completely unknown but from a trade point of view it can't possibly be better or even as good as.

In order the stay competitive the average UK workers rights will likely be torn up, wages will reduce, hours will increase and all imported goods will likely increase as there's a very good chance the pound will fall possibly even plummet. Given we don't produce enough food in this country (I'm in the UK) that'll mean the cost of living will drastically rise. Oh and if we want to trade with EU (which is completely unavoidable) we'll have to agree to their rules without any say in those rules. Taking back control huh.

There's a reason the world runs on representational democracy, rather than direct democracy for the most part. Direct democracy mostly works on the city state level or smaller, like in Ancient Athens.

Using direct democracy as a political stunt like Cameron tends to have results like this...

Because of the politics you put aside.

The political reasons to play hardball weigh a lot more than the economic reasons to not.

It's plain dumb to leave the organization that enables you to protect your exports in your largest export destination(s).

No, we're not going to stop trading with each other, if we would the UK would be a burning pile of crap after 3 days. But now you'll get the terms dictated under which we're going to trade with each other. That's how international trade works, the larger partner dictates the terms.

What is the matter with you miserbale EU citizens, why wont you let us just get on with our lives ....lol

Talk about inteffering gits.

I see you went to the Boris Johnsson school of charm. We'll let you get on with it, of course. Just settle the accounts first.

Except the collapse of the EU if we let UK go too easy. Netherlands stopped, and France probably too? The risk is too high, to place our bets an assumption what can change too easily, especially if we consider how big moron the current leader of the free world... And also? I heard he going to negotiate with Putin.

Brace for impact!

You mean when the UK was a superpower and didn't import two thirds of its stuff from other countries? The situation has changed, the UK alone is not relevant anymore.

No, we're not going to stop trading with each other,

Even China has to follow EU regulations for market access. (but only because the EU has the economic size to make demands - otherwise, we'd be swamped with pesticide food and toxic plastic stuff).
If anything, the horsemeat lasagna will remain in the UK and the "good" stuff will be sent over here.

Funnily enough I'd love to try horsemeat lasagna. It just needs to be properly tested and labeled, not sold as beef.

Go to switzerland. Horsemeat is a delicacy there. Some parts of western germany, too. It's actually like beef, just even less fat.

Problem is that they re-labeled and re-labeled expired meat and in the end ground it into lasagna. Not very nice.

It always depends on what you consider Survival.

Will the People Die ? Nope. They will Survive. They will lose some Wealth and have a Harder Time to make a Living in the Future. But its not like losing 10-20% of your Wealth would Kill you.
There is Countries where they got not even 10% of your Wealth.

Will the Union Survive ? Well thats already Questionable. The latest Events show an Great movement towards Seperation.
It might not happen right away. As the UK will attempt to prevent it. And might Succeed. But the Cracks are showing. And with the current Course of the Government of Suppressing Independence Movements their Support Grows. Making an Future Split even more likely. Thus the Union might actually not Survive this.

The British Economy ? It will Survive. But thats about it. It will Survive. But heavily reduced. Imports go much more Expensive for you now already. This will catch up to your Industry in time. And the UK due to being an Island is dependent on Imports. It cannot possibly sustain an Industry by its own Ressources.
And the only closeby Tradepartner is the EU. Meaning that with the EU now having Border Taxes you will have massive increase in Cost of your Economy Running.

Your Financial Sector ? Oh very Unlikely its going to Survive. The reason that the UKs Financial Sector had such a Good Time. Was because it had Full Access to the EU and thus as the English Speaking Country was doing all Financial Business for non EU Countries inside the EU.
But with Passporting Rights gone and thus Companies not being allowed to do their Business from the UK. This is gone. Meaning that the UKs Financial Sector will Shrink by more than 70% which is Devastating and comes around the same as total Annihilation.
If Companies were to oblige the Restriction they can do it from their own Respective Countries. And anything else will be done in the EU.
Even now Frankfurt, Paris etc are all taking Bites out of Londons Financial Sector. And your not even Out.

So well.
Depending on which part you mean. It might Survive of Course :)
Being a bit Poorer is not going to Kill you at least.

But if you really think that nothing bad will come from it. Your very Naive ;)

Britain is falling apart now, with Scotland and NI looking likely to leave.

As for roaring, Trump has insulted our national broadcaster and accused GCHQ of spying on him. The British response? Send Boris Johnson to kiss his rear end.

The UK has gone from being a powerful voice in a community of free nation's to being a bauble of Trump.

A pathetic fate that was completely self-inflicted and done at the behest of the uneducated, the bigoted, and those led by the lies of the gutter press.
