Vulture retirement

I have been using my trusted fully loaded Vulture to Bounty Hunt for a long time.
I am about to upgrade to either a Fer or Python.
Do any of you Bounty Hunters go back to the Vulture after owning a Fer or Python or does the Vulture become obsolete after these two ships?

I sold my vulture a few days ago, I flew my new FAS for like 5 minutes yesterday. Never looking back

Before MRP's, and after Missiles were buffed, there was a period of time that the FAS was in a bad spot. With it's modest shields you'd expect to hull tank some, but missiles would just strip my weapons and send me packing. I needed to switch. The obvious answer was the FdL, not my favorite ship, but it's shields made a strong case at the time. I struggled with the FdL for a while, until the Ship Kit for the Vulture appeared.

After playing dress up with the Vulture I decided to take it out for a while. It was just what I was looking for. Agile, tough shields, and decent fire power. A shift back into the Vulture was much better than the step up to the FdL. I now jump back and forth between the FAS, and Vulture. If I'm going out to do multiple tasks, I take the FAS. If I'm just going to drop in somewhere and collect bounties, I will opt for the Vulture.

I've been looking for a PVP ship. Now I love the iCourier but the Vulture with double PA's is awesome fun! Actually managed to hit an NPC Sidey at range the other day in a RES where a new player was in trouble with a wing of NPC ships.
I felt rather smug with myself for a) helping a new player
And
B) looking like a way better pilot than I actually am while doing so!
It's a fun ship!
Although I'm gona test what the FAS is like with rails; more specifically Hammers (not sure how it'll handle the heat).

With the military slot and (in Beta) the buffs to large weapon Armour Piercing Values and MRP's, the Vulture has never been in a better place.

Properly outfitted and flown, it can hold its own against the FdL and FAS and Clipper in apex PvP duelling now. I treat it as a medium for 1v1 threat perception purposes, when in my Beta FdL.

In serious PvP duelling, how often you take hits and how much ToT you achieve are as important as how hard you hit. The Vulture makes up for its reduced firepower (compared to the mediums) with its agility.

It depends on what you want to achieve and how you play.

For me the Python is a big and boring trading ship. I sold the FdL after spending less than 4 minutes in it - the cockpit view kills the ship for me.

I love my Vulture. Absolutely fun to fly. With engineers a lot of interesting things are possible.

Sometimes I switch to a FAS, but the Vulture just is more fun to fly for me.

In short, no ship is obsolete as long as you have fun flying it.

Thank you for all your answers, I can feel the love you all have for the Vulture! I feel the same.
I am about to first get a Clipper as I've been grinding like crazy to get the Naval rank, but after that I'll try for sure the FDL and Python.

Try the FAS if you have the rank and the funds for it. I've heard its a vulture in a giant box with more power (as in power plant)

I bet there is a vulture somewhere in that box.

Wait I have it, They stole a vulture put a gaint box around it and the box had a better Power plant and two medium hardpoints. BOOM

And a slightly different flight model. A FAS isn't a bigger Vulture. Don't get me wrong, a FAS is a wonderful agile ship for it's size, but it's certainly not a Vulture. And btw, if you want a bigger power plant in the Vulture, there is an engineer for that (it might get cosy warm in the Vulture, but hey…).

For combat, I don't think the Clipper is a step up from the Vulture. The hardpoints are a mess on it.

I keep the trusty old Vulture in storage, but swap between my FDL and Python for various missions. The FDL is an amazing piece of kit, especially when up rated and engineered. Go for that first.

I see the FAS comments. Good boat, but you need Fed rank to get it. Same with the Imperial Clipper (Empire rank) and I sold mine due to the widely spread out hardpoints.

FDL does not need rank to own, just money.

I'm a sloppy pilot and I occasionally clip cops. When the happened my Vulture was toast. Made me switch to an FDL when ch could generally survive the cop spam

The correct response is probably "learn2play" but if you are a semi noob like me something to think about

does the Vulture become obsolete after these two ships?

hardly, it's pretty unique (like most ships in the game). from a purely utilitarian perspective, maybe, but no other ship in the game will give you the experience of flying a vulture. particularly the vulture. me, i'm sort of attached to most ships i've flown and keep them around, and still hop into them often, and engineer them.

I sold mine a week ago and got a FGS and have no intention in going back. Have a Python too and love it.

Yes.
Absolutely yes.
When I'm war profiteering, I take my Python.
When on contract to assassinate someone, I take my FdL.
When I'm just GP Bounty Hunting, I fly my Vulture.

And when I don't know what I want to do, I pull out my Anaconda.

My Vulture is the one ship I regularly come back to!

A-rated and grade 5 engineered, 'Huginn' never overheats, fires almost perpetual and looks sleek in his black kit-enhanced livery (with purple weapon color) when dancing around his prey. Conflict zones, underlayed with some black or death metal while targeting new victims before the defeated enemies even exploded, are almost a meditative experience. The flow is strong in this ship!

No, I won't abandon you, my beautiful raven! [heart]
