Irritated with redirected missions.

I am really, really, really irritated with missions that get redirected. I'm almost to the station I'm delivering 60 tons of cargo too, then they want me to take it 22 ly to another station. I don't care if they offer me a small bonus. I have no other option than to take it there or dump it, pay a fine and take a hit on the faction rep.

At the minimum, I should be able to deliver the cargo to the agreed upon destination. Then choose to take it to another for the bonus. Under the current system I have absolutely no choice.

I delivered the cargo then logged out for the night. This is a game stopper.

Fix it FD.

Still mad. But wanted to play. I'll go pew pew for a minute.

they should put a choise to doit or not...but in the other hand maybe the npc thought u were just a ping pong ball lol

Cargo redirects has not being totally tested in 2.3 Beta. Too many other more exciting additions to play with. In Live lower paying missions does this often versus being aligned with many local factions with better paying missions they don't show up a lot.

I have dumped a few missions, but sometimes I take the redirection and end up doing 12,000ls to an outpost. I have credits so I'm getting picky. Don't want the long LS drag.
Still, I'll do it most times.
What I found was the most problematic thing about it was: Hey Cmdr. Don't go there, go here. Fine. I do what he wants. Then the wife says "Have you landed yet?"
I'm doing an extra 15 minutes or so, then I get a bloody interdiction and I'm probably making my wife more irritated. That is the outcome I hate.

I think the worst for me was arriving at the destination and I delayed turning in the mission immediately. While I was sitting on the pad checking out something else, the mission was re-directed. I was not a happy Cmdr to say the least.

Yeah, they really need to be optional.

One of the perils of doing missions around Sol is that, even if you decline anything involving Alpha Centauri, there's always the risk you'll be re-directed to make a delivery at Hutton Orbital. [where is it]

Be nice to not have that to worry about after next week. [up]

As a workaround, until 2.3 is live, just don't open any mission critical updates that you receive...

If you don't open them (look at them), then the mission doesn't update and you can hand it in at the original destination.

Dude.
I had no idea that the missions worked that way. Of course I never tried it. Can't stand having messages unread. LOL

Cargo redirects will become optional in 2.3. Passenger demands have always been optional.

That's good to know. A few times I've had a redirect to a planetary landing, on a planet that's locked so I can't actually go there - shows as red on the system map.

Irritating.

i had one last night in Arro Naga, which is a 450,000 Ls trip - i was prepared to make that run, as the mission paid quite well.

it got redirected, but i still had to complete the 450,000 because i'd picked up a couple of 'also rans' i.e. data deliveries worth about 10k each. so 450,000 Ls for 20k.

also had plenty of those cases where the redirect occurs just as i'm landing at the destination.

REDIRECTIONS SUCK

i need a bigger font to adequately convey the suckage

REDIRECTIONS SUCK

there, that's better. let's see how 2.3 pans out.

I hope, if you get a wrinkle redirect come in and decide not to go to the new station, your delivery to the original destination would pay you, either less than your were contracted for but with more rep for accepting that, or more money than you were contcated for (sorry) and less rep. In either case faction influence would be lower?

What gets me is who thought this was a good idea in the first place

We're seeing some development in the mission system .. new chain missions in 2.3 but I don't 'hate' how it has been; take it up with the issuing faction, they changed their mind. Fining you for not being 110% do or die for them, is harsh, but does have a certain logic to it.
