THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

I think Yuri will be our contact point on the 29th for the game event.

I think Yuri us a female name and will enable xbox players to follow the event through her possibly even a line of comms to Salome.

Yuri is apparantly part of CoR so that kind of makes sense.

So... Faulcon Delacy a clearly guilty of something. I flew my Python in VR for the first time today, and as usual the first time in a new cockpit/bridge, I stand up and have a good look around.

There are a bunch of cables going from the centre console, over the floor, to some other console behind the pilot's and co-pilot's seats.

This is super annoying for my OCD, and clearly, is there to distract me from the REAL mystery of the Rift. Every time I fly it, I just keep looking back at those cables randomly strewn across the floor, and it bugs me. Maybe if I unplug them...

Z...

It's your ghost girlfriend from Dead Space waiting to pounce

Yuri is a real CMDR on xbox, not an npc. Male pilot, and they are part of CoR. if you actually know this person please don't let them fly alone right now, it's going to be a warzone keeping him safe.

Ahh it's a male pilot, was it a female pilots account that has been taken over by her brother ??

I don't know them.personally but we are keeping an eye out.

Nice my xbox account only has a hauler and on pc I'm out in the rift, counting on you guys!

It could be the other way around, I just know there was a roleplay description of them last month "Name: Nakamura, Yuri Height: 6 foot 2 inches Weight: 182 lbs Hair: Dark brown Eyes: Grey Bio: Born on Mars in 3268. Yuri was born into military service. His father served under the banner..."

Ahh ok no probs.

Hopefully will.be able to set up voice comms

Attempt to retrace the Formidine Rift Beta/Gamma Expeditions. Day 3.
.
It has been a slow day with little progress and little to show for it. I have had to backtrack several hundred LY and am now making my way along the edge of the Perseus Arm, trying to find a region with a higher stellar density that looks navigable. Most systems have one or more CMDR tags but a fair few do not. I think my relatively low jump range is helping me here as I have to make so many jumps to cover any distance that I might as well be using economic routing. At least this gives me a greater chance of finding traces of the Dynasty Expeditions.
.
My only finding of note today has been an Earth-like World (previously discovered): PHROEA HYPA AX-N C9-0 2. There was no sign of city lights, signal sources/beacons or orbital bombardment. It has large ice caps and an unusually thick atmosphere (almost 4 bars of pressure) but it was in a system with only 5 planets (itself included) and no landables so there was little to investigate.
.
I shall see how I get on tomorrow, or if a period of 'Galactic instability' forces me to take cover in my ship. Fly safe!

4 Bars would not be habitable without breathing aids (Helium would help). Whilst a Human can easily cope with that pressure, both oxygen and nitrogen become toxic beyond 3 bars.

Sound might be an issue as well. Being near a thunderstorm in high pressure atmospheres would be 'interesting'.

That said I'm not sure if FDEV know this. At the terraformed world of Badfort, the pressure is 6 Bars, yet there are lights on the dark side. They must be in pressure domes (or as I say, most likely FDEV just don't know about how pressure effects gasses with relation to the human body).

I think they calculate the partial pressure of oxygen and use that, rather than taking toxicity effects into consideration. The actual figures for this planet are:
pressure: 3.89 atmospheres
95.8% nitrogen
4.0 % oxygen
0.1% water
Not likely to become a tourist destination! Plenty of nitrogen for plants, though. I wonder how much terraforming of Earth-likes goes on and if the planet you describe in the bubble is still considered a 'work-in-progress' by the inhabitants.
I wonder if the Dynasty Expeditions were placing beacons around all Earth-likes they found or only ones that met certain criteria... . It looks like I'll be in the area when 2.3 drops so I shall check a couple of other known examples on my way back as well as continuing to look for new ones.

MY scuba diving training (Nitrox) did have me questioning some of this stuff, though if the air mix is right... (which it probably isn't).

"Something is going out on out there," said an unidentified member of the Imperial intelligence community. "We think it could be...her."

Granted, I am assuming that the feminine pronoun here is referring to CMDR Salomé and her exploits; but what if it isn't? The article immediately follows this statement with the information on increasing the bounty, so I am pretty sure it's in reference to Salomé.

If not, potential "her"s:
a. Octavia (at least as dead as Schroedinger's cat)
b. Halsey
c. Probably not Tsu Annabelle Singh
d. TOW (again, at least as dead as aforementioned cat)
e. Felicia Winters (after all, where is her PP decal hmm?)
f. A vessel of some kind, referred to in the traditional pronoun
g. ... reaching deep in the tinfoil top hat... an Osirian/Tharg queen - just ruling out possibilities

any thoughts from my fellow Riftmates?

I'd vote for either Salome or a Thargoid queen. I was pondering this the other day & I'm tending toward the latter, but then Salome may be a texting addict. But it does seem to be a very large number of messages for someone who's trying to hide.

If someone is coming to slit your throat you don't hide in a dark alley. Head into the light. Somewhere with too many witnesses. Salome knows that the Empire is gunning for her. Calling attention to her location will draw out allies as well as enemies.

Tension is building up nicely....

Just hope this will not end up with me trying desperately to relog for two hours to get to the right instance with whoever I try to help or kill :) Would really like to get some more information.

I really don't think this event will depend upon being able to instance with a particular character. Everyone is invited, after all, but only 32 people can be in one instance (without using a wing exploit which makes the servers unstable). That said, I hope Salome has a shield tank Cutter ready, heavily engineered and with stacked shield boosters and SCB those ships can survive quite a pounding. (What I really need to do by the 29th is figure out how to put the accent on the 'e' in Salome, both on the forums and the in-game text chat.)
