Hardware & Technical Saitek X-55 Rhino out of stock everywhere?!?

glad I could help, been playing around with mine in war thunder .. but the SOLE reason I bought it is for elite.

and after using it I simply would not recommend anything but this stick... the warthog is great but no twist stick which means u need pedals :(

in this months pc-gamer they review flight sticks you should check it out.. x55 and warthog are the top 2, but if you read the comments closely the reviewer basically says the x55 is just as good as the warthog but its made from plastic not metal.

cannot wait for the 29th :)

Yeah I have this months PC Gamer, I have read the stick reviews through about 10 times and the x-55 is the best all in one option. I'll use it for battlefield every now and then but it is mainly for elite.... if I can get hold of one!

Heh yeah I'm sure you will if you keep checking. I know the feeling :( ... GL

I was in the same situation as you. I had pre ordered from somewhere, but they changed the delivery date on me So in the end I went straight to the Gameshark store.

Use www.followthatpage.com to keep checking for stock for you. It will email you when the page changes

Understand your need for twist, but I have the warthog, it replaced my X52, after age caught up with it's bad soldering. It took a few hours to adjust to using my thumb on the warthog chaff control hat (on the left side of the stick neck) but I no longer struggle with yaw. As it is so minimal in ED anyway, the hat switch makes it instant anyway. So saying I am not flight sim pilot, so maybe pedals would be sweet if I got into that..

I would never go back to a plastic stick now though, and as for the software, it is leagues ahead of the old sst in terms of quality, and customisation (though I have yet to find a use for it other than s-curves). I actually bought the x65F first, which was awesome, but the software and drivers had so many hangups I was unable to configure it the way I wanted.

Damn, you Brits have it hard. $200 was still hard for me to swallow and I wasn't sure if I wanted it at that price since it seemed a bit much, but hearing the prices you guys are quoting for the X55.. Holy ****..

I've got a spare boxed one accidentally sent to me by Saitek sitting in my living room unopened.

Still waiting to hear back from them after I informed them about it. Was just going to slap it on ebay but was advised I would be on dodgy ground if they came calling for it.

They said a week ago they are looking into it with sales and will get back to me, since then, nothing...

Directly from the mouth of Madcatz themselves, regarding an email inquiry when the X55 will be shipped to the Nordic countries (they're all out of stock here):

25 June
"We are actually going to begin shipping the item to our distributors in your region in the next couple of weeks."

I assume they have the same delivery intent for all of Europe.

It's a hot item at present but after it's still a £170 toy so I expect in a few weeks you will have a choice of suppliers. I was thinking about it because it is new and shiny but my X52 Pro is in perfect working order, and works very well in ED so I couldn't justify the outlay.

PcNation told me the exact same thing, a week before the end of July and that I would receive it on the 31st, but I'm not sure I trust them. They also said they may get some mid July but like I say, dodgy reviews.

AHA! this is what I am after. thanks very much! presumably gameshark will also be getting some by the end of the month if everywhere else claims to be?

I got a shiny £100 with your name on it if you hear nothing :p

Amazon.com lists it @$188 ($252 (£147) inc. shipping & VAT), but with a shipping date of 1-2 months I think you can assume it's not in stock :) . The EU Amazons have some stock, but not sold by Amazon itself so it can't be shipped to the UK.

if you are in EU, i ordered it from amazon.fr, it's never listed as in stock but if you order it will be shipped in like 2-4 weeks. i placed order june 6 and received it on 22.

hint: i check that link everyday and frequently price is jumping between 150-170-210, so if you're not in a hurry i would advise you to keep looking and when price drops to 150e (i have seen that price like 3 times in last 3 weeks, but just for short period of time like a day or so) place your order and start praying to your local shamans :)

Kinda need it for the 29th :( got a few emails back from various UK suppliers, all saying that they will have to let me know :(

A Logitech 3D pro to tide you over might be the best solution then. That or KB & mouse, which some say is more accurate anyway.

This is exactly what I did, bought a Logitech 3D Pro, as all of the HOTAS products are out of stock in the UK, and I'm actually very pleased with it overall.

It's the first time I've played a game using a twist yaw stick and I can understand your desire for that capability...it's very intuitive. Sometimes when docking I'll be using all 4 movement axis; roll/pitch/yaw with the stick plus the thumb hat for vertical/lateral thrust overrides.

Still considering the x52 though, possibly the Pro

Couple of reasons why I would try to avoid changing between hardware:

a) I imagine muscle memory will play a big role, especially when VR comes of age and you cant see your hands.

B) £170 is a lot of money to spend on any pc peripheral, wanna try and keep costs low

C) linked to point a, the first couple of hours (more like days!) in game are gonna be spent familiarising myself with the controls and physics of the game, seems silly to have to spend that time again once I get the hardware I want.

But as you say it may be my only choice depending on what happens in the next couple of weeks.
