CMDR Customisation intems in store. FDev, Seriously?

Here we go again...
first of all nobody forces you to buy any of this..
those items are cosmetic only, gives ZERO advantage in game...

FD needs additional money to continue development do you really thing that FD can continue development for 10+ years only by selling expansions ?!

P.S.

i bought few nameplates to support the game, even update 2.3 at least for me is average...

Is that where you can no longer point at a green tag and have the system and CMDR specs displayed?

Not sure about the "CMDR specs" bit but yeah, it's where you hover the mouse pointer over Lave in the Galaxy map and the little signpost pops somewhere in the region of UDFj-39546284*1.

*1 astronomy joke - basically somewhere very far away.

Specs ... yeah, not really what I meant :)

Just their name and their favourite type of icecream.

I love this, it comes up relatively often but can be shot down within 30 seconds by saying:

Show me on the store page where it says you get these things with your purchase of horizons.

Checkmate. Game, set and match. Yahtzee. <- Pick one.

Admittedly the store page is not very descriptive, it was made in 2016 before any of the updates were finished and probably before most were even started. If you wanted clarity then support ticket query and/or wait until it's clarified before putting your money down.

So it says at time of writing:
2.3 – The Commanders
Available Now
Team up and stand together. Forge your own identity with the new Commander Creator, then share your bridge with Multi-Crew and fly with friends.

Can you team up and stand together - Yes, arguably you could do this with wings. A finickety person may say we can't stand without spacelegs/Elitefeet :D
Can you forge your own identity using the cmdr creator - Yes
Can you share your bridge in multi-crew and fly with friends - Yes if you have the ship to do so. Note it says share the bridge not helm.

So a few popular items:
1) It said nothing about name plates even being introduced let alone being free
2) It said nothing about paid for cosmetics one way or the other, all it said is that you could forge your own identity.

That 2nd point is actually interesting as to some people like Mel Gibson in that film you could argue the face paint is part of his identity yet he's still the character he was without it. I think unless you in real life have facial tattoos and they define who you are I doubt you'll have any grounds to argue. And the onus of proving your own identity relies on these extras would be significantly difficult to prove especially considering the alternative is £1

Anyway, I also find it hilarious all the people that don't play the game anymore try to argue and spread salt about things like this. So much of their free time spent (in some cases years after they uninstalled) on something they no longer care about paints a sad picture.

I want a Prince Albert in the store! Come on FD, the lack of a Prince Albert is outrageous!

Your wish is my command!

i`ve just had time to look at this: the problem is it sets up the uniform in the CC as if you can have it NOW for free, like the plain ones, but when you happily click on it - GO TO STORE pops up.

That kind of slap to the face will make any rational person feel a bit annoyed. In fact, the only decent choice that`s free is BLACK, possibly red. No wonder I saw so many people in black before.

Not had chance to get in game since the update (a few hundred miles from my pc). If thats true I guess it needs some kinda flag saying "store item" somewhere... although I seem to vividly remember people asking to be able to see what they are buying in game. I suspect paintjobs will go the same way.

Fair point though.

Firstly, I want to say that I have been long supporting FDev with buying paintjobs and shipkits every time something new came out in store because I liked it and at the same time I was supporting FDevs.

But, CMDR Customisations??? Seriously FDev??? Tattoos?? Flight suits??? Yes nothing would be wrong if there was some solid game mechanics like space legs to make your CMDR look little bit different among other players. But selling it for real money in the current state???
I know they are super cheap but in principle, it sucks that player have to pay for such primitive things like tatoos. Okay I may overcome the fact that flight suits are behind paywall but tatoos??? Sorry but that is little bit too much over from FDevs. I know that FDevs like to put everything that customise player's ingame items cosmetically, behind paywall but I do not think that such a things like tatoos should be paid items. It is very basic customisation in my opinion, especially in the state, where ED is now, without spacelegs it does not really matter. Flight suits are disscutable but okay, I can overcome that.

In the end I know that you guys are going to tell me to do not buy it if I dont like it or if I do not want to spend money for it.

I just wanted to express how disappointed I am about this CMDR Customization paid items, especially and mostly Tattoos.

It's cosmetics, non essential stuff and nobody forces you to buy anything. These things are relatively cheap too.
I am not yet buying these cmdr customizations either. I will in the future, but not at the moment.

There is a little white padlock on items you do not own.
The visibility could be better, but it is there.

There is an indicator that shows what you actually have and don`t have. it`s in the numbers in the lower corner. but it`s tiny and you won`t know what it means until later... I suspect this is typical practise of many business`. Hide or minimise the info knowing people will just click on the big shiny thing first. I wish companies would just be plain and honest- just put "Click here for more clothing options to buy."

You think this paywall is bad, take a look at EVE.
Their famous £75 monocle... They introduced a whole seperate currency for the character customisations, and made it so you could spend real world currency to buy Aurium to spend in the shop, but when you worked out the exchange, the cybernetic gold monocle for your character would have cost £75 of real world money!!! No that is a paywall...

I agree that paying for these customization seems petty, but as stated there is no-one forcing you to get these customizations, and let's be honest virtually no-one will ever see them outside of selfies.

I think I need to just add this to my signature but "Something else sucking more than ED does not make ED suck any less"

Been looking at these costumes. They`re no big deal. Even the Camo is nothing like I hoped it would be.

The plates are better and you get 3 for £2 which might be ok, but the plates aren`t even really plates. They`re just writing or painted on the ship which was what I thought was free! LOL.

I`m gonna go do some work...

I should beat you with a stick 3x a day because it isn't that bad, in other countries people getting beaten 4x a day, tortured and enslaved.

Is that now how we define standards of how soemthign is good nromal and bad? Wow the logic of some people is amazing.

I agree. For something that no one will clearly be able to see, besides a very brief glance at your commander profile (SMALL), there really shouldn't be a price. In this regard, I'm genuinely surprised that SCARS aren't behind a paywall, as well!
