Abandoned Picard, the most handy toolEVER for an Inarauser

I don't seem to be seeing what everyone else sees when Picard runs. All I get is a very brief pop-up when I start it up, showing that it's logging into my Inara account. Then nothing - how do I bring up the interface? I must be missing something...

Picard should just open the list of materials/data/commodities after logging in. We'll have to get some more data before we can figure out why it's not working:

1. Windows version?
2. .NET runtime version?
3. Language? (We've got a bug in localization at the moment, to be patched soon, but it doesn't manifest itself this way)
4. Do you have Horizons, and are running 2.2.03?
5. Do you have a "Saved Games" folder in your user profile? It should also have an "Frontier Developments" and then "Elite Dangerous" folder with some log files in it.

Maybe one of those will give us a good place to start.

Thanks for trying it out, and helping us make it work for everyone!

Hey folks,

New Picard Release! https://github.com/jtickle/Picard/releases/tag/v1.0.6-beta

Just skip right over 1.0.5 and don't worry about it.

Features of Note:

* Multi-Commander Support

If you only have one commander and Picard has been working well, you should not notice any difference. If you have multiple commanders, it should autodetect which one you have been working with, or ask if it can't figure it out. You can then select a different commander from a list, and go through the Inara setup process again. For each new commander in Picard, you need to manually synchronize with Inara before setting up Picard for that commander.

* Journal Path Customization (and better guessing)

If you are running Elite Dangerous in a language other than English, Picard has been unable to find your journal files, because it was looking for "Saved Games" and not a localized version of that string. We now just look for any folder under your %UserHome% with files that match Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Journal.*.log. But if that doesn't work, you can manually enter a path to your journal files. You can use the UI, or set a string value for the registry key HKCU\Software\TickleSoft\Picard\JournalPath.

Now, I know this is probably a little out of spec, but would it be possible to update the following to Inara:

Current Credit Balance
Current System

and maybe even:

Rank and progress
Engineer reputations

Releasing this into the wild has been a bit humbling. I thought we beat it up pretty well, but the unknown unknowns always get you. But I think we're close to done with major bugs and features. After that, I can focus on cool new stuff. Credits, system (and current station, planet, etc) and rank and progress are relatively low-hanging fruit. I'd like to get them all done in the next major version. Engineer rep looks a little more involved but makes sense to prioritize due to the nature of what we're doing here.

Try the new release, and if that doesn't work, delete your %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\TickleSoft directory and run Picard again. If it's still no good, let me know and we'll see what we can figure out.

I have same issue like Gravious with latest Picard release (06). It started only for a first time and asked for logs directory (which I do not have on this PC in default directory; I have only folder with logs here, ED isn' installed) but was unable chose proper place and were appearing errors. After closing this app and tried start again, nothing happens. I reinstalled it few times with restarting PC (Win10) and nothing. Then uninstalled it and installed version 03 (creates TickleSoft directory with login data) and it started with asking for Inara account.

TickleSoft directory is with 06 version not re-created (after was deleted). I go uninstall this app for now and try next version.

Just given this a whirl and it seems to do what it says. I have been put of using Inara for a long time as I just CBA entering in all the numbers.
Looking at your wishlist it looks like this may be ANOTHER app to run with ED :)

Keep up the good work.

It seems I spoke too soon. The initial update with the new version, using the commander I had not used before, went fine. Everything updated as expected, and matched. However, after using up a couple of items at an Engineer, I exited the game and tried to update again. It is not finding any differences.

What should I try?

Edit:

I tried manually changing the values in Inara. Picard noticed that when I ran it, and asked if it should correct the values. So I let it do that, which appeared to work correctly.

Then I visited another Engineer and used up a bunch of materials. Picard still doesn't see the changes, so it is somehow not loading the current values from ED.

That's a wonderful new bug that will be fixed after I get home in a couple of hours. If you start playing before then, manually edit AppData\Local\TickleSoft\CmdrName.json and add your elite commander name under EliteCmdrName, which should fix it for now.

Hi i just started using this app last night , added everything in inara 1st , app picked everything up as should , then i started doing missions, collected a shed load of stuff that was filling my cargo hold so i sold them , but then i got this in your app, and i can't update inara because it,, so i had to manually add to inara,,
this is going to happen everytime , because i don't keep mod terminals etc , i sell them , is there a way i can delete the items in red , so i can use the app to update ,

That's odd, have not had that happen, maybe you incorrectly input some numbers when initially setting up? I did this to one material... There's only 3 to check, so pretty easy to sort out, I think. Once done is done...

I love this little app, btw, has made life very easy for engineering.

Z...

The last few days my version is refusing to boot in windows 10. Deleted and re-installed with latest and previous versions to no avail. Windows Smartscreen is turned off, anti virus is Bitdefender. Worked fine till now, any ideas?

Denis.

A bit off topic so apologies.. but does anyone know a way to contact someone at the inara.cz website? I've been getting this message the past couple of weeks when I try to open the site:

No mass site leeching, please...

I haven't seen any posts that the site is down, and everything else on my end seems okay.. with the ED and other websites that I use.. I have no idea what the problem is :(

Please lookup Inara in EDCodex entry. Use the search function at the home page. The Inara entry has an author mentioned, click on it and it will reveal his email address. Hope it works out, as the email address uses the same domain as his website.

Does this run on Win7 64bit? I've installed and run it but nothing happens. I looked on Windows Task manage and it just comes up as a task for a few seconds then disappears

Hello!
Picard is not working anymore on my PC (Win10 x64)! It crashed once and now, when i launch the app, nothing shows on my desktop.
I've uninstalled, rebooted the PC and installed the 1.07 beta, but nothing happens.
Do i've have to delete some folder to start from scratch?

Additionally, in the 2.3 changelog:

• Added info in player journal at startup with Cargo, Materials, Passengers, Loadout

Are you going to update Picard to automatically get the inventory at startup in order do not manually update Inara the first time?

thank you!
