The North Western Expedition

I was on my way back from the Abyssal Plain this week, having been in the Scutum Centaurus arm for the better part of the last year since the end of the Distant Worlds Expedition. There is still a lot out there to find. I love that part of the galaxy. "Magnificent desolation" truly applies. Safe travels, commander o7

I wasn't there for DWE. So, I made my own DWE called NWE. lol

Thanks cmdr.

Well done commander. I enjoyed my own western expedition on the way back from Beagle after distant world. You feel very lonely out there. Good luck

I already feel lonely.

Thanks cmdr.

Good luck on your travels!

Looking forward to hear about your crossing of the Styx region CMDR thestyx ;). Though the crossing should be no problem with the kind of jump range you have on that Anaconda... ;)

Well, this will take some time before I cross the Styx region. About 70-100 Kly, I guess. Cmdr thestyx is a ghost now, although there are some systems tagged by him. I let it change to Steyla.

Jump range, is no problem. No extremes though, like NS jumping into AH Cancri. ;)

Not much to look at.

After traveling more than 20 Kly I finally found not one but two earth like worlds in one system. The ELW's are in a K-Class star system. I thought to myself perhaps I find more ELW's when I search for the system designation, like looking for all system with KZ-X. I did not find any more ELW's, but all those systems contained interesting planets, like Amonia and Water worlds. Then I started to check out the G-Class system in the vicinity. And from 20 systems, which I visited, there was only one with a planet. In all other G-class systems there where either just one star or multiple stars, but no planets. Curious.

Oh btw, there were no city lights on the dark side of the ELW's. ;)

And then on the last system in the current leg I found a very small planet (250 Km), on which I parked for the night. When I approached this little thing I almost was afraid my 'conda wouldn't fit on it. lol

I never landed on such a small planet. It was very interesting. I had to approach in a very shallow angle.

explore
verb | ex·plore | \ik-ˈsplȯr\

2 : to travel over (new territory) for adventure or discovery

That is the definition of explore in the Miriam Webster. For me exploring is like 95% boredom, 4% excitement and 1% panic. And if one does not find the excitement, one has to look for it. Even if that means going 500 Ly back.

Leaving the Orio-Persean Conflux (Region).
Entering the Zephyrus (Region).

Thanks.

AFAIK you are one the way to BP. I'll be there too a little bit later.

Good luck with your journey commander.

Today I crossed the Ishtar region, sort of. It was just the outer edge.

After reading Cmdr Marx's thread (rep+) I filtered my route to class K star only and I found something interesting. A ringed ELW orbiting a class Y star which is in a class K star system.

Howdy commanders,

Yesterday evening I started my North Western Expedition.

This is just another one-man expedition which I planned for month’s. My home-base is Jaques. Getting equipment to Jaques was not easy and it is very expensive. I went 3 times to the bubble and back because I forgot some parts or some engineering. It also gave me the opportunity to participate in the DSE. Which was an awesome experience.

Since I have all my stuff in Colonia there was no excuse to delay the NWE any longer.

The ship I am using is an Anaconda named Nina III.

The first Nina was sold, I did not want to spent 280,000,000cr for the transfer. Nina II died with me on the DSE.

You can find the route of the NWE here.

I selected some historical markers and some random waypoints.

I am really exited about this. Especially going to Beagle Point.

From time to time I will post images in this thread when I find something interesting.

See you in the dark.

May fortune be with you cmdr.
