THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

I am confused about the "Fibonacci-Riddle". I have not followed the "Chilrdren of Raxxla" storyline. What is it all about? Has renegade explorer Salome aka Kahina discovered.. what? Is the Tionisla system of any relevance?

What are the CoR hoping to find in the Rift or the Conflux and how is this connected to some mysterious data in the Imperial databakns?

It's all very unclear to me...

Also is there a spreadsheat or some dedicated link exlusive for the recent riddle?

I assume with the latest tips, the riddle is pointing to a single location in space. Maybe a system name or coordinates, somehow to be decoded with Fibonacci????

Answers to the riddel lines (the german translation seems to give some more evident clues in some lines):

The river to the underworld - STYX
Gaia’s daughter all unfurled - RHEA
Fourth minor bear in vain
By viper’s sting was slain

Also known as Nemesis -
The doom of Chimera - BELLEROPHON
She is tasked with soothing pain - EPIONE
Suckling Odysseus from afar - EURYKLEIA

Mother of the mother of Odysseus - AMPHITHEA
Leader of the Titans - CHRONOS
He transformed into a hawk - DAIDALION
A daughter of Daedalion’s - CHIONE

The piercer was how he was known - IAPETOS (also a moon of saturn)
Mother of Ulysses - ANTIKLEA
Ruler of the winds - AEOLUS
God of night, primordial flees - EREBUS

Zeus’ namesake now lies in Sol - JUPITER
Achilles’ favoured horse - XANTHOS OR BALIOS ?
Women of vengeance infernal - FURYS OR ERINYS
The vain queen rides not forth - CASSIOPAIA

A final word, a course to follow, a poor miser’s sum
If you would understand it all, seek Fibonacci’s Zephyrum

Howdy folks. So it looks like we are at the end-game for all this?

I don't really have anything for you ... except to say 'hi' and 'good luck' ... I'll be watching. And waiting.

ttfn :)

O7 Luke, good to see you're still lurking!
Can't do much more than that myself - this thread is moving so quickly right now; some 25 pages since I went to bed last night.

Taken me half an hour to catch up, and what I've learned (or rather had confirmed) is that I don't like or can do cryptic. They either make no sense to me or are just obvious.

But everything on the list seems to point to systems, planets or places in game rather than a jump route, so if this isn't a route, what is it? I would think that these are the locations of ingame clues myself which then need to be solved for the final location, while the trailer is the event start point.

But as they will also be cryptic I'll carry on with kicking a Fed corporation out of control of my home system which they took while I was exploring and engineering, and keep watching the smart people solve it.

What if SUM(10,7,5,3) is a reference to planets? The 10th, 7th, 5th, 3rd Planets at Phaeton's Reach which is where David Braben and Ian Bell, in 1984, released a certain program that used a Fibonacci sequence to generate it's universe?

EDIT: I'm just wondering if the "overthinking it" that Drew referred to has something to do with trying to stretch a Fibonacci sequence out of this particular riddle. I'm thinking that the "Fi(0)" us just another reference to Fibonacci's Zephyrum

Here's a thought. Ok, so Tony H's solution was overthought & we need to simplify.
How about the first three terms indicate that trailer riddle is based on the fibonacci series used by David Braben & Ian Bell in the 1984 version of Elite. We need to get that, and sum the third, fifth, seventh & tenth terms to produce a number. That number will indicate (somehow) the solution, possibly some planetary/system coordinates in the original game? I don't know anything about that original fibonacci sequence, so anyone ...

I still think that some things were indeed right in that post though, otherwise why "unwrap a cigar"?
If you look at most systems, they are composed of a prefix (i.e. BD, DV, HIP), which could be revealed by the DB-IB part, followed by a number, or a series of additional letters (i.e. HIP 45236, or DV Aquarii). So for example DB-IB could just simply be DI (subtract the B and DI is what you are left with) and the SUM of 10,7,5,3 extracted from a fib series could give a number that we could convert into letters. Just an example...this would fit the "simplify" requirement.

Just a guess at things sorry guys

I believe this could actually be referring to a thargoid mystery. If you think of it thargoid ships if that's what they actually are look organic almost plant like and barnacles also if you take Zephyrum and relate to bee behaviour the month of April is time to pollenise unopened pods(referring and just a guess to the barnacles) so maybe Fibonacci's Zephyrum means use code to find colany.

x_X

Maybe there is something hinting in there. (It's from the german translated riddle. So i don't know how european names will match.)
The two last lines are missing, sorry.

ah nice! I have only one uncertainity with your answers: How do you know Xanthos was the favoured horse of Achilles could it not as well be Balios the other horse of his chariot-team? Else that's the same I found. Congrats.

Someone checking the moon/planets in Elite named in the riddle?

Just my 2 cents:

I went to the styx (system) and found several high-grade emissions, encoded emissions, fire detected signals, aftermaths, etc. Nothing interesting. Then I landed on the only landable planet and went to the zephyrum (0 lat 0 long) and found a few ships roaming, like searching for something. They were NPC. I landed and found a few salvages guarded by skimmer, but none of them was interesting. Styx might also be the second moon of Pluto but I've not been there yet.

In line 21 where the English says "a course to follow" the French reads "le fil d'Ariane" which is the ball of thread that Ariadne gave Theseus to help guide him out of the maze when he confronted the Minotaur.

Clever work.
My first thought for "A final word, a course to follow, a poor miser's sum" was "A line", though it was a stretch for the last.
Just had that the thought that "Thread" works for the second and third, but not the first (that I know of).

Lets see what we have (in the [] is the starsystem)
1 Styx [Styx]
2 Rhea [Rhea]
3
4 Euiridice [Eulexia]
5 Rhamnousia
6 Bellerophon [51 Pegasi]
7 Epione
8 Eurycleia [Prism]
9
10 Cronos [Elysia]
11 Deadalion [Prism]
12 Chione [Prism]
13 Iapetus [Sol]
14 Anticlea [Prism]
15 Aeolus [Aeolus]
16 Erebus [Erebus]
17 Jupiter [Sol]
18 Xanthus
19
20 Cassiopeia
21
22
These are the confirmed ones!

My bets:
3 Yildun [Yildun]
9 (according to the german version) Amphithea [Prism]
19 Furiea
21+22 Zero - Center of the contellation*

*) the figura which should be viewable after we found all systems should be a spiral, where the center is our wanted system

just bringing this on front again. Seems legit.

Could be nothing, but I do see a system in the formidine rift area as HIP 9164.
When I enter HIP 9164, the map shows me this specific star about 2000ly away from Sol, which is NOT in the Formidine Rift.
Anyway, could beworth a look, at least we cannot say we didn't check.

.
Ok, so according to Drew, I am over thinking this, so which part is correct? I think the Fibonacci series is correct.
.
I think we have to work out how to apply in some way the SUM(10,7,5,3) to the following Fibonacci series:

654,665,1319,1984,3303
.
Maybe its that part I have not worked out correctly. Or, maybe we have to extend the Fibonacci series further. I will continue working on this.

If you are overthinking it then try stepping back and just reading it a different way, a simpler way....?

DB-IB Fi (O) T-1319 SUM (10, 7, 5, 3)

Could this simply translate to...

David Braben and Ian Bell used the Fibonacci Sequence to generate their universe in 1984, here's a seed (25)....so....2 & 5?

As for the calculation of the Finonacci sequence, whilst they used Base16 nos, it's fair to say we're working in decimals unless someone has a reason not to think that?

Also from my research we may want to think of a single digit sequence?

From the Backroom Boys book...
At this point, they thought of the Fibonacci sequence. In its most generic form, it works like this: you take any old pair of numbers and add them together to produce a third number. Then you add the second and third together to produce a fourth, the third and fourth together to produce a fifth, and so on, ad infinitum. So if you start with 2 and 7, the sequence goes:
2 7 9
Adding the 7 and the 9 is going to give you the two-digit number 16, but the Fibonacci sequence consists of single digits. Consequently you ignore the carried 1 in the 16 and only take notice of the 6, giving you:
2 7 9 6
It's this that creates the apparent randomness with which the sequence continues:
2 7 9 6 5 1 6 7 3 0 3 3 6 9 5 4 9 3...

So if we simply take the sum as the seed 2 & 5 we get a signle digit sequence of...
2 5 7 2 9 1 0 1 1 2 3 5 8 3 1 4 5 9

Alternatively, the full number sequence is...
2 5 7 12 19 31 50 81 131 212 343 555 898 1453 2351 3804 6155 9959 16114 26073 42187 68260 110447 178707 289154

Anyway there is my simplification....

Yes, clearly TonyH was almost there. I was thinking the overcomplication maybe came from extending the F sequence & mused on one way to simplify, I'm sure there are many other ways.
DB-IB might be FD, since I understand Ian Bell isn't involved with Frontier Developments.

If we simipfly it further and just use the riddle as part of the fib series. Starting with F(0) being 0, discounting the line saying look for the fib sequence, the number of lines would total 21 or F(8) depending on the language

Maybe we are not trying to find Zero. maybe he is trying to hint that if we counted the lines in the riddle, maybe it's a clue. sort of, count the lines and see where it would stand on a standard Fib Sequence where we can only
find one number in the sequence. That number being the number of lines in the riddle, and setting the F(0) to be 0, so we know which number in the series it is.
