How Long Have You Been In The Black?

I guess it depends if we're talking game time or real time as the two are vastly different for some players ;) I tend to use distance rather than real time as it varies how often I play each week/month, my longest exploration trip without docking was some 300kly

I've been out since November 5th 3301.

My hull is down to 50% (I hate high G worlds) :(

I'm a slow go-er, I'm very easily distracted and I do like driving fast across low G ice worlds, which wastes an awful lot of time.

I'm currently 7.5 klys from Colonia and making typically slow progress.

In that time I have seen only one other ship (npc or real) and that was a Fuel Rat - all hail the Fuel Rats.

Edit: I just did some rough calculations and I think I average about 300 lys per hour. I did say I was slow :D

Before Distant Worlds I was already out in the Corona Austrinae region and then bandwagoned on DW. After Beagle Point I took a 'slight' detour towards the Orio-Persean Conflux and came back to the Bubble via the then emerging Colonia area. All in all eleven months

My Alt account left the bubble June of last year. Arrived at Jaques in August and arrived at Sag A in September.
Been wandering back in the general direction of the bubble since then.
(see links in sig, commander Hutchins)
In an unmodified DBX. Hull is at 98% thanks to a close call with a close binary. Other modules at 97-99%. No AFMU.

Current Stats ...
Time Played. 1W, 4D, 4H , (268 hours?)
..........When I left the bubble I was at around 2D played.
Systems. 3,132
Total Jumps. 3,223

I've missed maybe 3 days where I didn't explore. (the cubs game 7 & server down time) but I'm looking at 543 days {not any record breaker} for this run.
I think I may go really deep on my next one though.
I'm comfortable and I'm good at it.
so we'll see.

The longest I was out was 6 months. I just started another expedition that will take me out to the Outer Arm, up the Outer Arm, crossing the Scutum - Centaurus Arm over to BP (again!), crossing back down to the Perseus Arm and following that down and back to the Bubble. Unless of course I want to stop off at the Core again. I didn't take any time to explore that are when I went through it on the DWE.

Maybe one day I will be a big explorer like Iain666!

I've been playing 9W 4D 17Hrs 27min.
Systems visited: 17,165
Total Jumps: 18,941
Total Distance: 451,489

15 months and counting.

Started with DWE in Jan 2016. Then took some RnR after arriving at BP and have been heading home for about 8 months now. Only about 40kly left to the bubble - I'm in no hurry :p

I left Santjalan on 25th Oct. last year.
Reached Colonia in February and now I am near the core.
I will take some other months to return then. Maybe back in the buble
around summer.

Regards,
Miklos

Oh, about a week now! I don't like to be out so long... ;)

It's a curious case though, because "how long you've been out there" can mean dates, or length of time. Compare two scenarios: Alice plays 7 hours per week, Bob play 28 hours per week. Both leave on Jan. 1, then both arrive on May 1. Both of them have been out there for four months, but Bob spent four times as much time out there.
Personally, I wonder which one is more difficult to endure: staying out for long but not playing much, or staying out for long and playing much.

As someone who is more of an Alice than a Bob, I'd say the latter.

Clipper won't get very much in jump range, I always check each ship with an eye toward exploration, Clipper is great in super cruise, and if you go lightweight as much as possible will only net you in the 30 ly range. With the buff to the Orca, I had it at about 22 lys before the update, now after I have it at 37, which makes it very viable as an explorer slash passenger liner, super fast at 575 boost with dirty drives, and fully armed and shielded, albeit size 4 shields, not to great for combat, but for running away from those pesky scans that give so many passengers hemorrhoids.

Well as of the 26th I would have been out in the black exploring one year in real-time, I dont get tons of time on the game these days but I started out on the 26th April 2016 after buying my ADS. I reset my save on 1st Feb 2016 and have been going forwards ever since :D.

Out two days so far; will be out for several months in this case. Decided it was time to do a galactic circumnavigation. Not trying for any speed records in this case; just making my way along.

16 months give or take in my AspX 35ly, not back from DW yet, sat off sometime in Dec 3301, pre engineers.
Just crossing the void now on my way back from BP.
Ship is at 66%
