RECORDING

We managed to overpower the invaders. but not before
they took out the main reactor. We're dead in space. with
twenty minutes of life support left. Didn't get nothing out
of them before they died, but clearly it was all planned.
They took a drug which killed them. Doc says it's
nicknamed 'Hexedit'. First it kills your memories, then it
kills you. Neat and tidy.

So we're dead, just waiting for the end. This will be the last
log from the Zurara. Some of the crew have already killed
themselves. Others are praying to whatever deity they
believe might help them. A few are drinking themselves
into oblivion. I don't know what will get us first the lack of
oxygen or the cold. Battery power is about to die.

Me? I'm leaving this log. This far out I doubt anyone will

We all signed up for the promise of big payouts, a year of
your life in exchange for enough to retire on. I guess I
should have looked closer at it, but you would have
probably done the same, right? No need to work again.
What's clear now is whoever was behind this mission
never intended for any of us to come back.

The folks managing the cargo, jees, they were all psychos.
The moment we completed the mission they just
'snapped'. Killed the ship and killed themselves. Some
kind Of mental conditioning. Doc said. We tried to get word
out to the other vessels when we found out. We got a
signal out. but I don't know if anyone received it. It will
probably freak them out. I don't think they know we're
here.

We dropped a series of beacons out here, all targeted
around Earth-like or terraformable worlds We prepped
some of the terraform candidates with seeders and
biofilters. No one can figure out why it was necessary. but
that was the mission. Just as we were turning back...
boom, those cargo-handlers went nuts.

Regarding all the disappointed tantrums about the megaship in the rift being an anticlimax to the formadine mystery, I really think y'all are missing the point, the Zurara isn't the end of the rift mystery, it is merely the end of a chapter of the investigation and leaves a lot more questions to be asked than id gives answers to. Sure, it would have been sweet if we had found a technologically advanced civilization living in the rift that we were able to interact with, that would have been a worthy ending, but I do not think the Zurara is the ending of the rift mystery, merely the next step on the journey.

It's a Premonition after all... ;-)

Let me just tell you one thing: I've been following this thread since nearly 2 years. Since we restarted the Children of Raxxla in April 3302 we have shared every single piece of intel we found out in this thread. We have kept nothing to ourselves, I personally wrote several posts about things we did and things we found. Regarding the Rift-Mystery we were as open as we could be. So either you missed that or it is just envy that someone else figured it out? Or does it bug you that we verified the position before posting about it here?
But we better stop the debate here. It will lead to nothing and as you see Drew has recognized it as a community-effort. Which is entirely true and o.k. for the Children of Raxxla. No point to go on discussing it.

Well let me just point out certain truths.

1/ as already stated in this thread, these puzzles don't match my mindset so I contributed nothing to solving this puzzle and have no credit to gain. So accusations of envy etc. are so unfounded as to be false. However I do have comments from some who did work on this supporting my stance and your reaction is what they expected.

2/ sharing information after the fact is not the same as openly sharing with the community up front and the tendency to share when convenient for CoR puts you in the same grouping as any other organisation that is not open, works to its own agenda, is happy to take wins off others work and is secret when they think it's best for them. Check out my previous comments and you will see I'm consistent in not trusting any organisation as HQ on here. CoR have just proved it now.

3/ while since my comments some CoR members have acknowledged the community effort, please feel free to point out where in your original press release where this was done, as all I see is CoR taking all the credit. A few words when reposting your press release on this thread was it.

But hey, don't overreact and insult me with accusations as if you have a guilty conscience or anything.

Reading some of the comments here is like when a big discovery is made in the threadnaught. Everyone just says "was that it, oh it's all over now, rubbish!" Not only do I not think this part of the story is over, it's not like there's other things still left to investigate/work out. I guess the main question you have to ask yourself is why you were here in the first place. Was it for the journey, or the destination?

That the 'mystery' was exactly what we were told it wasn't

Well I'm not dissapointed with the floating megaship ( it's always what I was looking for while out there ).

The dissapointment is that the clues were forced upon us in this way.

It was an interesting riddle of course but I'm not sure how the previous clues like Eafots, Heart and Soul, Seven Veils, and the Vain queen clues fit in.

If anything they took us away from the R-R line.

Annoying thing is I typed that system name into eddb last night but didn't have it all as I failed to see the Rebecca link as it wasn't a fibonacci sequence.

I am kind of thinking this was a bit rushed in the final.stages as we approach the 29th as they want all.this wrapped up ad as a result changes were made.

Not a POI stands out big time as it was a POI.

Is this the end if the Rift mystery. Did Rebecca ( we now know the Old lady is Rebecca Weston ) discover aything more than just a large ship that had been terminated.

Big questions are -
What was it doing ?
What was the cargo ?
How does it tie into the Conflux and Hawkins ?
Who sent it ?
Who pre ordered the kill ?
Why did they pre order the kill ?
Is there more to find ?
Is this just a 50 year old cover up involving people in power ?

It's safe to say Patreus is involved somehow. Prob an investor prior to his rise to power politically.
Who else is involved ?

Will these answers be revealed on Salomes safe escort on the 29th. I certainly bloody hope so !!!

Who was behind the expedition? I suspect that's coming in the event and in the book.

What was the purpose of the expedition? The logs suggest the expedition was to create way points and something is coming. I notice the ship is in the direction of that permit locked sector, so it could be related to that?

Are there two more megaships to find? Remember the expedition went to Hawkins Gap and The Conflux. What happened to those ships?

Should we try to find the worlds mentioned in the logs?


To me, this is not the end, but a milestone in the story that we needed to reach in order to progress to the next part of it. Looking forward to the event

And even if I don't get mentioned in the book, I can read it and think "I was there, I was part of that!"

Well I was searching for an abandoned station... I never suspected it would be a megaship... but something is still out there in the rift and we need vengeance for the exodus mission! I'm sure there will be more revelations to come.

You werent far off yeterday with something you posted.

I followed that logic and ended up finding the system name. It was the wrong logic but it provided the first 5 letters of the system.

I was up until 5am last night going through the options. The Fibonacci clue was what threw me ( still not sure how that ties in )

I was looking for a generation ship that had been tampered with. I was trying to tie it into Ammonia world's and Thargoid interaction.

The whole not a POI thing was an issue though.

The latest clue I feel was a bit rushed ( probably due to us Rifters being rubbish looking at patterns of the devil in stars ).

We at Sap Core enjoyed helping and looking forward to the 29th. Hopefully we get Yuri to where is going we get a few more answers.

Just random speculation... If Rebecca said this goes beyond the super powers that really only leaves two organizations. INRA, responsible for infecting the Thargoid ships with the Mycoid virus and yet to take any known major part in the current iteration of the Elite galaxy or the Pilots Federation who control Galnet.

Pilots Federation: "Over the centuries the Pilots Federation has remained secretive in nature and neutral in conflicts, and has grown into one of the dominant financial superpowers of the galaxy through its GalNet data network. Originally a star chart, ship data and bounty management system, GalNet has evolved into an effective galactic infrastructure and content monopoly on news, market pricing and communication systems. This has not been without controversy, with periodic claims of data hoarding and abuse of its position." Galnet's symbol has a striking resemblance to a certain alien vessel... but then again, why would they allow the spread of news that points to the skeletons in their own closet?

My bet is on INRA being behind the Zurara and Dynasty Expedition.
