THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

I think something about all of this is going to lead to new FSD's, to whoever it was that said it pages back. Didn't FDev say they were working on in system hops? Maybe this is how they release it then. The theft of the new drive system, the call for drive related resources. Maybe they aren't directly related to the rift but I bet the same players are involved.

I guess it's an FSD designed on the Alien's drive which might allow us to access hidden things in-system that could only be reached with this certain Drive technology, which also would allow us to have in-system hops.

In fact, if I were committed to protecting her, if anyone shows up to the instance with a lot of rails or plasma. Destroy them immediately. Dollars to donuts they're there to help one shot her. Maybe I'm "weapon profiling", but I wager I'm right.

So as an independant trade pilot who just wants to see what all the fuss is about, my options are currently:
A- Show up armed to defend myself from the murder hobos that are absolutly going to be there and risk being paranioa-killed by Kahina cultists.
B- Show up unarmed to not be killed on suspiscion, and get murdered by the pvpers.

I'm hoping for some further clarification as to what we can expect in this event because there are way too many assumptions being held as fact right now and none of them seem like they will result in any kind of fun for me.

My thoughts too. I noticed in some of the alien hyperdiction vidoes that there are objects on their contact screens 70,000-90,000 ls out. Can you get to them? Can you supercruise when not in a system? Maybe you could hop to them with the new drive? They're probably just objects from the nearest system but what if the aliens are trying to tell people to look here? I've never been stopped by one so never got to try.

Yes you're probably gonna get murdered.

I've read from posters that the hyperdiction just drops you on the edge of the system you were previously in, so I would assume that these contacts are whatever was present in that system. Unless you mean objects that would show up as Radar blips, but I wouldn't know.

My thoughts are definitely running along the lines of the new FSD technology and the Alien ships being very much related. This might be some established fact already but I haven't read a lot on the matter of the stolen drives, just seen some brief video explaining one of the characters that was involved.

Yeah, this is sort of my dilemma as well, as it definitely sounds more and more like it will just be a PvP and Gank fest. I'd like to be there to observe without dying in the first 10 seconds. Assuming I can a) even get there in time and b) get into one of the (three?) instances, one for each of the characters.

This never made sense to me. The context of that phrase is always that the thing you thought was bad, is not as bad as this other thing. That's literally the definition of calling something worse.

Well here is an example.

What is the reason for Dynasty? What if it was something so bad, that if it came out it would cause mass unrest and violence, and may lead to the breakdown of order. Over thousands of worlds, that might lead to billions of deaths. Something like a plan by a major organisation like Sirius to wipe out whole populations. Some thing that would make the previous encounters with the Thargoids look trivial. But the plot might have nothing to do with the Thragoids or any other aliens and by a purely human affair. Thus something that makes the trouble with the Thargoids look a small matter.

How effective is silent running at not getting detected by other players?

Could be. Seemed to me like it was just a turn of phrase.

I was actually thinking about this. Why would this plot sit around for 30+ years? The only answer I can think of it that someone dusted off this exit strategy and is planning something big! I think the Salome reveal will be the start of us understanding why this plan was dusted off.

I'm torn between taking the Corv, the FAS or the FDL. That assault ship kept me safe a long time...

Will take ages to get there in the Vette. I'd really rather there be very little pvp and more of a "follow the leader" through the permit systems. I wonder if she has assistance in the pilots federation. How else would she get the permits removed.

You can still be seen on sensors while in silent running if you're close enough. Depending on the sensor grade you can get pretty close before you pop up though. It does break target lock (and interrupt sub system targeting) so if you're good at evading and have no shields... Still gotta worry about the ole' MK I Eyeball though. Really depends on who's shooting at you.

Sorry if this has been said before, because I haven't read all the thread as there were a lot of comments. But I think this is the moment to point something very relevant to the story.

One year ago I observed that a group of systems form a sort of line. I don't have the game running to see them in the map of the galaxy, but I'm talking about Robigo, Takurua, Almagest, Sothis, Ceos... all of them are pointing towards Formidine.

I honestly think that those systems were the beginning of a much wider project of colonization and terraformation, of which just the first ones were made (Sothis, Robigo). When I saw the colonies in EAFOTS, I thought it was coherent with that line. And now Zurara, next to a terraformable planet. All of them have relation with Sirius Corporation.

That makes me think that the plan was aborted. Zurara ended its mission (literally), and they didn't continue. The planets were abandoned, nobody continued the work. If so, all the planets would have been terraformed. Even more, I could guess that the colonization program may have continued across the RR line. Towards where?

And that makes me think. If it was a part of a bigger plan... was the plan to escape from the bubble? To create a route for humanity to a safest place to escape from a hidden menace? Was Sirius Corporation responsible of what happened with Zurara?

And why that line? Is there something at the end of it?

That makes me think. Nobody knows what Raxxla is. Some people says that "on Raxxla there are alien structures which serve as gateways to other universes." http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Raxxla

I'm not thinking of universes, I prefer to talk about galaxies. There are old legends of eight galaxies. They may have a bit of truth. It seems reasonable that at the end of the RR line you may find Raxxla, a portal to escape from the milky way to another galaxy, a new place for the humanity to start from the beginning, in the case things go wrong here in the bubble.

If there's something, does it exists? Could a commander find it?

I think we should focus on the end of the line.

I would second this, and will try to figure some things out on the way there.

Is this line of systems very straight and noticeable or is it very loose and hard to follow?
The names you've given, I'm unfamiliar with as I'm fairly new to the game. Are these system names? Could I take these names and plot them as points on the ingame Gal. Map?

I keep reading about the "RR" line but can I please get system names so I can plot these points and see the exact line myself? If there was indeed colonization efforts along this "line", then perhaps it's worth trying to follow it and find terraformable/earthlike planets that are on this line. As far out as we can go.

Project DYNASTY sounds like it was an expansion effort to colonize further into deep space that was halted by a higher power. I wouldn't be surprised if it was terminated due to how successful it was being, and how shephards of a flock don't like it when their sheep are lost or hard to control.

Update:

Plotted those names you listed and right enough, there's a clear line there. Takes you all the way to Heart and Soul, right through between them, and all the way to the Formidine settlements. If you keep following the line, you get to Heisenberg's Bridge - Zurara is nearby, though a little ways off the line, Could this possibly be because of the lack of stars in that part of the rift? It could have made a curve to try and follow the stars rather than power on through no-mans-land. I don't know if they thought of the pathway documented by Heisenberg. (Edit: Or something similar)

Well that sounds really good to me.
Thank you all for your thoughts on that matter. So I will be on my way to Colonia first and then the other part of the galaxy having a look at the other permit locked sectors out there.
For me there are too many people here. The void is calling ;-)

I really appreciate the work you are doing here!
