THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

FYI.

If you’re wanting to help Salomé in her Elite Dangerous quest on Saturday, you can be assigned a role here in Discord. http://discord.gg/nBXzhGZ It's a public discord channel, so caveat emptor! ;)

Cheers,

Drew.

Unfortunately, after joining a few days ago and reading some of the conversation from time to time, it's the only thing that's making me doubt my desire to turn up on Saturday.

Nope, it's Sol. She'll aim for the north or south pole of Sol and broadcast from there. Any bets?

Yeah, I'll lay you a pint it isn't.

If that's all that is needed copying the data to every cmdr out there and a quick telepresence to make the announcement to the first ship that made it to Sol would be job done with each cmdr spreading the data to others as they went.

They could stop 4, but 400 taking various routes? No chance. The 4 would be distractions only. Might seem like an exciting plot end but with knowledge that this is coming it would be a bad plan.

If that does happen it only makes sense if Hassan, Luc or somebody else is also running it behind the smoke screen.

I think it's more likely we will be taken to see something to expose the truth.

And on that I still think a second imp bubble, already broken the accords with Feds and probably some alien connection that will increase internal tensions within the bubble.

Stop tempting me to blow myself up Drew. :)

I can live without nameplates. I can visit the mega ships later. Supporting another fellow Imperial rebel is very tempting.

I'll take that bet.

Sol is permit locked.
I've heard it said that permits are not required.

No you can intercept her/them along a route, but as Drew has said, A good idea is to get a sol permit.

Follow the path to Phaetons reach, that takes you between Sol and the Orbit of Mercury...If I'm right.

As I see it she wants to shout to the widest audience, she'll only get one shot, so she HAS to put herself where she can reach all the core planets regardless of where they are in orbit. The only places she can be sure of doing that is the North or South Poles of Sol.

If the finale of the event is in a permit locked system, then the forum will be one enormous salt mine.
It's just asking for trouble.

I won't go into details, but tactics, meta and overt seriousness. Whilst I get the reasons behind some of it, helping based on the current plan (quite possibly the one most likely to succeed) promises to be rather dull.

Seems to me some people are taking this whole thing far too seriously.

"That being said, the name of the game is instance saturation and tactical interdictions."

Way to suck all the fun out of it :(

Then let's hope I'm wrong. (There's a bloody good chance I am, I've been wrong about everything so far) But sticking with the Mythological theme, she's trying to make Atlas shrug, and bring down the pillars of the world.
She'll fail, Mr Braben is not about to let Drew change the whole game setup just to produce a happy ending to a book.

Been saying for as long as this has been planned that instances would do exactly that. Number 1 reason I'm not getting involved. I refuse to play instance lottery, and I know from experience it's gonna boil down to that.

Anchor wings, instance saturation, tactical interdictions…

The "fun" of inclusive gameplay.

I going to get flamed for this, but: that is exactly how to make an event exclusively for an inner circle of favored players. Nothing wrong with that, it's just the contrary of what the organizers are constantly claiming that they want to do.

Unless there is something more planed, but I doubt it. Mere mortals can stand on the sidelines and talk a bit about the event - that's fun too. (It really is, I'm enjoying it.)

EDIT:
How about a "March against the cult of personality" in Sol (or whatever endpoint that Salomé event has).
Every protester comes with a Sidewinder or Hauler since we are all just normal CMDRs.

Let's peacefully protest
against secret organizations
against cult of personality
against the privileged not considering how their actions affect the masses

for information
for peace
for freedom

(drum circles and patchouli purely optional ;) )

I often thought about Sol as the final destination : I went on Charon yersteday to see if i could find something on it ( well , I found antimony but that's out of subject...).

It matches the phaeton lore , it matches the path of souls lore , and it goes with what Drew said about the Sol permit .

In addition , Sol permit is a very easy one to get . I am even sure that by saturday, one with no fed rank may get it.

I remember that it's on Mars that the first alien artefact has been dicovered....[alien]:x
