Oh my god... this is the best looking space shooty game out there.

The reason I've posted it here is that I wanted to make a comment about the potential for improvement in Elite Dangerous' art design and direction.

I liked the look of it, but I don't see the angle on the art direction and E:D. Apples and Ostriches.

It is very colorful to say the least. Very arcady.
I don't mind a bit more color in Elite's HUD, but I hope there is a modest middle ground, because this hurts my retina.

Of course there is always room for improvement in ED as much as in any other game. But I also feel this game is not at all the right example.
It is perhaps a nice game in its own right, but it's art style does not fit in with ED at all.
If you want more colorful ships then you can rest assured you will get that as the skins in newsletter 30 show us.

Despite Wings been technologically inferior (purposefully so), it skillfully blends together that limited technology with an art style that produces really awesome flashy effects, that really other space games could stand to borrow from.

Sounds like you have a personal interest in the game.

You an investor, backer or owner?

This brings back the feeling of the old and revered Wing Commander 1/2 games. Definitely looking forward to it, the graphics style, art and overall feeling is top notch! :)

I agree, Dante80, which is why I started a thread in the Games section of the Limit Theory forums back in August of last year. It's now slipped to page ten but at the time I was (and still am) impressed by how much it reminded me of the original two Wing Commander games.
