Ive had no luck upgrading 2x now: It gets through maybe half, maybe 2/3 of downloading files and it stops.. I get an "unhandled exception during upgrade - data error: cyclic redundancy "

Edit: make that 4X now. Just restarted the ED loader.. and still no luck.. same error

Can't got the upgrade work. Mine stalls at the "Preparing for update", with UPGRADE butoon turn gray, with the WORKING text, than nothing seems to happens... :(

Got it! I needed to turn off Avast Secure Connection VPN. Now it's downloading... hopefully, I'll get the update in half an hour.

Just updated via steam (about 35mb) and game loads fine

Fyi there is a new menu under Options for "Network" and there is an "experimental" note next to it? Not sure if it was there before i never noticed actually

It continues to give me this error: sent in a ticket to customer service. (its not being updated through Steam.. but the ED loader)

I use the ED loader.
Tried the normal download method: got instant error "Failed to read from response stream. Network connection closed."
Tried the alternative download method: got the same-but-long-delayed error (at the end of progress bar) "Failed to read from response stream. Network connection closed."

Repeated several times each download method - none is working.

UPDATE: removed EliteDangerous64.exe.part/progress & some others - and updated finally worked successfully!

Installed the update, and tried to start up, but the game refused point blank. Tried uninstalling the ED Launcher, and re-installing it via a fresh download, which resulted in the same problem. I've now deleted the entire game, re-installed the ED Launcher again, and am currently re-installing all of the game files again. Good job I have a good fast broadband connection, but it will still take a while. Will update with the result..:cool:

Update as promised. After re-installing, and having no luck again, I had a suspicion and looked into my internet security settings, and found that on each launch attempt, my security had blocked the software, deeming it as 'spyware', despite my settings of ED being completely trustworthy!

End result, game is now running smoothly again..;)

The OP stated quite clearly...
"There are some separate issues that apply to Xbox Commanders only. We will put this update out as soon as we can too - we understand the frustration caused but rest assured that the developers are working extremely hard to bring these fixes in as soon as possible."

Multiple failures here too. Had given up on this game a few months ago as I could never just pick it up and play. Always needed updates of some sort which took ages - looks like nothing has changed. Still cannot play it.

Well mine updated 'okay' I was doing stuff at a ruins site - got 1 adjunction error and two disconnects. Then I flew to another system, I was in the System view, when to feed the dog, came back and my PC had rebooted. It's 2 and half hours later now and time to see if the game will stay working for longer that ten minutes.

Here update OK too, only thing is that "my" two bugs are not solved :(
The missing body while jumping and the missing sound file when selling something from the commodities market in the Cutter.

I can live with them.

I am only guessing mind but this makes me think we wont see a patch today. No word (as it was promised!) from Frontier at all. So here is hoping the Patch comes on Wednesday some time.

I know I am feeling bitter towards this game which I backed at Kickstarter four years ago. Finally a release has beaten me out of playing my favourite game. Server issues all the time preventing me from playing. Frontier admitted changing something with the servers and still put the patch out knowing it was bug ridden. And they have the effrontery to say "good progress has been made cleaning up the bugs!" What bugs? What and where is the change log details we can look at and get fed up when we don't see what we know needs fixing not fixed. That maybe the stars will be put back as they were and the Gal Map sorted out at long last but the terrible server outages will continue as it has since day 1 of the game only now it's much worse since 2.3 was not so ceremonially dumped on the player base. It should have been BETA tested for 2 or 3 more weeks. Not rushed out for the Easter Holidays.

Just get the patch rolled out and the patch notes so we can all find out what it is you are going to release to us all. We deserve better treatment than we currently get.

Just as an update.. the original problems I was having with downloading the 2.301 patch directly through the ED launcher remain the same with that error I mentioned prior (wouldn't work at the alternative dl site either) but I have a Steam account.. so I decided to try updating through Steam , and voila, it did work there.

My launcher doesn't seem to work, following the latest update :(


I click ELITE DANGEROUS: HORIZONS (64-BIT) and the small box disappears - as if the game is about to open - but nothing happens. Then after a few seconds the box reappears again, but no game. Have validated game files etc etc but no joy. Wahhh.
