I agree with you, when will Frontier have an "architecture" to easily detect the influence of systems as easily as the market (as is the case today)

PS : Sorry if my English is not good. French gamer you see xD

Thanks

No worries - the case you made is right on target.

Do you know what a PITA it was to try to keep track of the Diamond Frog/Space Poultry war? I had to login and spend forever tracking influences and states across 20 systems. Market data should be easily accessible from anywhere in the bubble. etc.

And that's exactly what's wrong with the community. They just know nothing ;)

Babelfish, I've read many comments in support of Frontier from you. I know you would gladly give an arm and a leg to Frontier so that they can improve the game. But saying that the community knows nothing is a bit too much, don't you think? There are countless 3rd party tools and there are thousands of people using them. They can't be all clueless, can they?

Of course the community is a pawn in this...but the community is more like rook than a pawn. The loud cacophony of half-truths, fake rage and impassioned debate is sure to steamroll right through Ed. Poor Ed.

And that is the point. As distasteful as it might be.

Also, forgive my ignorance, as I'm not participating due to many beers being consumed on my b-day, how does this impact the event?

Happy Birthday!!

All true. I'm superhardcore, I have a pointed stick on all my FDL hardpoints.

Nice. I believe you then, because true murder-hobos just murder-hobo without direction or purpose. You don't need a GalMap for that.

That doesn't make any sense - you don't support wjhat they're doing, so in other words, if you had the pwoer to stop them you would but it's their website and they can only do what they want because I lack the power to stop them?

Yes and the people saying they don't support their action (not that it's anyone's business btw) are simply wrong.

1) it's nobody's buisness but the owners what they do.

2) if you're against them shutting their site down you're against them having free choice on their product.

So if you had the pwoer, would you stop them from shutting it down? I'm assuming you are going to say YES as you're against their actions?

You are making arguments that don't reflect the situation. By the act of posting their position on the Forums they are asking for our support. Just as they have the right to close their sites. We have the right to comment on the support the OP and his group has asked for.

Not agreeing with the OP's methods has no bearing on their right to use them.

I will be rearranging what out-of-game services I use as a result of this attempt to use my voice as an extortion tool.

I really enjoy to play Elite but I don't know when I played it last without having at least one of these tools open the same time. Most of the time I load those tools BEFORE starting Elite.
Find a profitable trade? Call EDDB; Don't know what ship to build? Call Coriolis or EDshipyard; Want to know where to buy this ship? Call EDDB again; What the heck do I need to get this engineer? Hey Inara; and so on and so on...
Without these tools the game would take way more (completely useless) time, without these tool the game wouldn't be so much fun.
Also good luck trying to tell a Noob friend what ship to buy next without coriolis :D :D
I really appreciate the work of everyone involved in these sites and I hope FD will too soon.

BTW: Because I was not able to find some funny things to do without these sites I had to do pretty silly stuff. Have a look: https://youtu.be/SSZcpwiaou0

It's a shame. Frontier really needs this to understand that 3rd party developer are an invaluable resource not only for whom plays this game (and buy extra... and make videos... and so on...) but also for them, for the same motivations and many much more?!

CMDR Vroxigar

Nah they do, FD are good people all around. The game code has been in a particularly massive state of flux with 2.3 though.
A missed communication, maybe. Damage the game for it? Not exactly the action of a staunch supporter.

These 3rd party sites are constantly open when I play Elite as it's honestly the most effective and time efficient way of playing the game. The notion that these developers who have put their own time and money into these absolutely integral (to my gameplay) sites have received short shrift from FD does not surprise me, but nonetheless disappoints me. I stand with them in their attempts to garner attention to their plight.

Until FD sees fit to provide their own versions of these 3rd party sites for our use, 3rd party community support is vital and needs to be acknowledged as such. I know I would not and will not do trading, outfitting, or engineering without these necessary tools.

Did anyone notice there's over 600 participants to this thread?

Usually there's less than 50, maybe near 100 on a good day but to get 600 individual replies on ONE TOPIC in a FEW HOURS hasn't been seen on these forums in years.

So it's already having a massive impact and the response are overwhelming in support of the 3rd party's - anyone here still want to imagine cutting these off won't hurt the game?

To be clear they are not asking for FD to support any of this. What they are asking is for communication from FD on changes, coding and whatever. Basically any changes made to the game should have a sort of changelog made. They just want access to various things....THEY will support the third party tools. But to be able to support them they need access to back end stuff.

Think of it like this. FD has their Database with all the stations with the commodaties. Now these third part devs can manually go to each station and update these commodities and stats (which they do using tools they provide to us) or they can go directly to the database and query it.

There are many programs out there they provide which if they simply had access to it or communication they could much easier develop and support their third party programs. Theya rent asking anyone to support it they just want access so THEY can support their own tools.

This post is quite funny and revealing. I'm a young'in and I don't even use the Galmap. I suspect '84'ers' can't survive without someone giving them directions.

Your post is as nonsensical as the one you just referenced, which I've already criticised. Perhaps both of you should wake up and start trying to construct an argument that isn't based on whether someone is old enough to have played elite in 1984 or not. Assuming that someone's age has any bearing at all on their ability (or otherwise) to engage with modern technology is asinine.
